  1. That might look ugly though, a Curado on a Champion. How does it look? Yes, that actually matters to me ;D
  2. not true.never happened to any pfueger i owned. Only problem with that , your experience might not be the same as everyone elses. Agreed, you're not the only person in the world that uses a Pflueger. I'm sure it's happened to a Pflueger before... :
  3. Oh man, you just kill 'em on these no matter what. My brother loves to throw these when he comes out with me.
  4. It happens to all reels...it's not a brand thing. :
  5. Well it's either Daiwa, Shimano, or Abu. I'll never own a Quantum. Maybe I can find a Zill for ~$150 used.
  6. I really like the Zillion I fished a couple weeks ago, or another Curado. Heck, maybe a Premier.
  7. Ordered a Dobyns Champion 735c a little while ago. Should be here sometime this week. Can't wait! It'll be another pitchin' and flippin' combo, I'll also throw bigger jigs and plastics on it. Now...what reel should go on it? ;D ;D ;D
  8. That little 4 1/2" Gill swimbait looks pretty good... Anyone used them?
  9. Telescpotic? I think it would effect the sensitivity, and maybe the balance. Telescopic.
  10. The goal is a balanced "combo", where the pivot point falls in the center of the reel. In reality though, most combos are tip heavy, and oddly enough, when we buy the lightest available reel we exacerbate top-heaviness. Roger. Thanks for the explanation. I understand the idea of a balanced combo. I was just wondering what people mean by a balanced rod, since they would all be tip heavy. I hear people claim a certain rod is tip heavy but, like you said, if you get the lightest rod and lightest reel how could it not be tip heavy? "I'm getting a Dobyns Champion 735c soon that is supposed to be exceptionally balanced" I do not get this at all. would it not depend on the reel he paired it with? With Dobyns, not necessarily. They're known for great balance. I'll either put a Citisaurus or a Zillion on it, so it shouldn't be a problem.
  11. "Threw other jigs with skirts and weed gaurds..." Alot of times the slimmer profile of a craw style bait (I prefer Chigger Craws and Rage Craws) without the skirt of a jig will catch more fish than a jig with a craw trailer. I think the less bulky profile is more attractive to the big girls while it still provides an easy, filling meal.
  12. Balance is more important to me, especially on my flipping stick. I'm getting a Dobyns Champion 735c soon that is supposed to be exceptionally balanced. This rod will see flippin duty in reasonable heavy stuff. I really need a balanced rod more than a light rod on 7'+ sticks.
  13. You just need to deep fry that stuff man. Crappie and bass are VERY good when fried, as are catfish. I love me some deep fried fish. I like a seasoning pre-mixed, I just don't remember the name.
  14. Hookingem and I have a couple resolutions for this year, and one of them is to put me on a drop-shot fish for the first time. I flip or pitch 95% of the time, so ds'ing and shakey heads have never really crossed my mind. I hope I'll be able to tell you all what my favorite bait for this technique is later on in the year, but for now I'm going to try a Baby Rage Craw. On the other hand, Imma teach him how to flip.
  15. Lack of competition=prices soar. I have AT&T and I actually like it. I'm eligible for an upgrade and got a Blackberry, not realizing that it has a mandatory data plan. My mom won't pay for one. Blows.
  16. Agreed, every company has their blips, it just seems like Quantum has far more than others.
  17. Wow. Resolution #1 for you is checked off. Now I gotta get me one. What did she hit?

    Rage Baby Thumper!
  19. X2, cast and drift with the wind, it blows the baitfish and the warmer water in the same direction you will be headed. Throw a spinnerbait.
  20. Got out with hookingem and Sam today for a little pond hoppin'. We got on a couple decent fish with a few dinks scattered in. AJ and Sam are both real cool dudes and very fun to fish with! The young'uns put a beat down on Sam today, LOL. ;D AJ with a nice 3# caught on a Bandit. Me with a chunky 4# on a spinnerbait. Another 3# on a spinnerbait. Good times, hopefully we can get a big'un next time!
  21. Congrats man!
  22. Standard, and I would rather flip this in pads and slop than any other bait. Even a Rage Craw, but they're close. Can't wait to flip the new 5" model.
  23. These look really interesting. 7'4 H/F Big Jig rod and 7'7 H/F Punching rod. http://www.americanlegacyfishing.com/shimano-cumara-7-4-cuc74h-casting-fishing-rod.html?utm_medium=email&utm_source=constantcontact http://www.americanlegacyfishing.com/shimano-cumara-7-7-cuc77h-casting-fishing-rod.html?utm_medium=email&utm_source=constantcontact
