  1. Gotta be over 7'. So the 7'2 M/XF Crucial that's NOT the dropshot rod is a pretty stout little medium? Sorry, just trying to figue this out!
  2. Agh, maybe I should just save a bit more and get the 7'2 M/F Cumara. I have fished a 6'6" MH/F Crucial Casting rod, and it fished like a medium. Grr.
  3. That's an amazing fish! Congrats on the new PB, and welcome aboard the best forum on the net! We're glad to have you. Must have felt pretty good to get her out of the 'yak.
  4. Well, keep in mind I'm not going to be flipping with it, and I'll have braid, so power will not be an issue. I just want a good all-around rod for throwing light t-rigs and other finesse presentations. So is the 7' M/F pretty light in power?
  5. Looking for a review of the Crucial spinning rods. Anyone used the 7' M/F or the 7'2 M/XF? I need an all-around bass spinning rod, and I can get these new for $90. I don't want to get the 7' M and have it be a whimpy parabolic rod. I want something with a little bit of backbone for throwing light plastics. I'll be throwing it with braid and a CXX leader. Thoughts?
  6. Yes sir! AJ and I have been on some good ones lately. Haven't gotten any real monsters yet! Hopefully we will! You've been on fire sir!
  7. David, the 735 is a really good light flipping rod too! It's just a really good all-around rod.
  8. Dobyns Champion 735 or 765c.
  9. Got out by myself today for a little pond hopping action. Second cast yielded a nice 2.5, then it went dead for about and hour and a half. I did get a good fish to bite a Rage Hawg on my new Champion 735c, but she didn't want it too bad. Rolled up to the last pond, where they just put a bunch of blue dye in the water to control the pad growth, and made two casts before a nice 4.5 waked up to my spinnerbait. She wanted it BAD. I had to cast to the same spot twice, the first time it scared her and she rolled on it. The second time she knew exactly what she wanted. Another fish on this little 1/4 oz. spinnerbait! I love this little Econoscale, it's dead accurate and easy to use!
  10. Nice fish!
  11. Premier, it has a powerful drag.
  12. The CUC72MH is also a great swimjig rod. I caught a couple nice fish today including a five on it, great rod.

    5# Frenzy!

Shane you have been KILLING them this year! Your posts on Rage Talk are unreal!
  14. I left (skipped) my last class today and fished for a while, then AJ (hookingem) met me later to see if we couldn't get a nice one or two. We got three 5 pounders, so I'd say we did pretty good! I got my first dropshot fish as well. AJ is trying to turn me away from flipping and into finesse fishing... Here's the first one, a chunky 5 that hit a 1/4 oz. spinnerbait. And the release. Next I got another nice fiver on a swimjig, which was my first time trying that technique as well. AJ hooked a good'un on his Northstar 5/8 oz. jig. These things are sweet! Awesome day!
  15. 3 straight posts indicating practice. Get out in your yard and just do it! When you get a little bit better, set up a 5 gallon bucket and try to cast and pitch it into it. After a while, it just becomes second nature. I'm very good at pitching, because that's the way I usually fish. Just practice and keep practicing! If you fish in places that require long casts, short pitches, low-trajectory sidearm casts, or even flipping work on that the most.
  16. Agree with the guy above, and I'll add that if you're not using braid, you should be.
  17. Practice practice practice!
  18. My uncle left a HUGE dent in his fridge. That man is a beast. He's a cop. He showed me how he arrests people. I'm a pretty big and strong kid, but he kicked my A-S-S. He's just a diesel.
  19. I need to learn to fish the spring better.
  20. I hear ya on that one man! I'm 99% sure I'm correct, I'll make sure when I get up. I think my next rod is going to be a DX744. I like not paying for insurance, gas, mortgage, etc, haha!
  21. Richard Dobyns told me in an email that the blanks are different. I just love the cork on the Champion. I bet the Savvy is a good compromise though. Interested to see what they do with the line.
  22. Champion. I would spend the extra money, too.
  23. I use a Dobyns 735c. It's a very stiff rod, with a VERY stiff tip. You just need to set your drag so it can take line. I just gibe it line off the spool with my thumb.
  24. Baby Rage Craw, t-rigged with an 1/8 oz. tungsten sinker.
