  1. Watched this episode at least three times now. It's my favorite episode of ANY fishing show I have EVER seen. Mike, props to you for filming such a knowledgeable jig fisherman doing his thing. I don't even know the dude but he seems like a really genuine guy that really loves to fish, and is just happy to be alive. He seems like a really good dude. Everyone should watch this show, it goes in depth on how to jig fish! PS- Mike, was that a Zillion rod?
  2. Revenge Football Heads are real good, used to tie with them till I realized I didn't fish them enough to warrant tying them. Do you want an EWG jig hook or round bend?
  3. Shimano Callisto. Like a little tank.
  4. I love sticking a 6 with a jig right in the top of the mouth. Jigs are my favorite way to fish right now. Just use a good braided line and you should be fine. With braid, you really can just do a short, snap hookset.
  5. I'm really split. I want the best jigs for the lowest price, but now I'm starting to think it might be worth it (or I might just have to) spend more money per jig for the jig that I want. Plastics, there's really just no compromise for me. It's Rage Tail's and Zooms for me. They work the best for me, and I just love them!
  6. Same here! When that six rolled on the jig I just about lost it!
  7. In my search for the perfect jig, I came across these. Anyone using them? The look pretty good. I want a strong, good jig to pitch and flip but I also want to be able to throw it along weedlines in the summer.
  8. Hookingem and I hit the ponds again today and had another great day despite POURING rains. We were both soaked straight through, but we were catching them, so who cares? Apparently it was "spit or swallow" day for the fishies this morning. AJ hooked two real deep on a little crank, and we both had our fair share of good ones come unbuttoned. I shook a 6+ on a swim jig and AJ did the same on the Mattlures Baby Bass. He also shook a ~5 pounder on a squarebill, and I lost a 4+ on a swim jig again! All together we probably caught about 18-20 between the seven ponds we hit. We got a LOT of 3's today, but no bigger fish wanted to play. Here's a 3.5 AJ got on the Mattlures. I'm only posting this because they're hard to keep on once they bite, and it was pretty exciting to actually land a good one!
  9. I want one. Bad. Problem is I already have a heavy jig rod! What else could we use it for?
  10. Wow! Amazing! Nice truck, boat, and fish! I bet them trout are good man.
  11. The $250 is a guess, it might be higher. I might get the Chronarch. It would look sweet on a Champion. On a side note- Anyone used the Cumara 7'4 Heavy Jig Rod yet?
  12. ~$250. I might still a Chronarch just to see if I like it. I might put one on my Champion 735c with braid for pitching jigs.
  13. I can get a Curado NIB for $120, and Chronarch D7's for $220. Is it $100 better than the Curado? Smoother, better at casting?
  14. I can get Curados new for $120 and Chronarchs for $220 new. Is it worth the extra $100? I mean, is it really that much smoother and better at casting?
  15. Thank you! I must just set my reel extremely loose. I can really launch a swimjig with my Cumara.
  16. You look like you've lost some weight! The fish on the other hand doesn't! That's gotta be a 13!
  17. Swim jig for me lately!
  18. Pond fishing I like a 3/8 oz.
  19. Jig fishing can be so effective. It's really a bait that you can fish year-round. Just keep throwing it and eventually you will get one and your confidence will build from there. When I throw a jig, I might not catch as MANY fish as say a worm or spinnerbait, but the fish I catch on average will be about 1-2 pounds heavier. Read a bunch of articles and you will learn a lot. The most important thing is to just keep fishing it. Jig fishing is probably the most difficult thing in bass fishing to learn, but the payoff is awesome!
  20. Yep, they don't do too well in slop, but work great in grass.
  21. Forgot to mention, Rage Shad would be your best best.
  22. A Space Monkey would work better.
  23. I like a punch rig or a Hack Attack jig.
  24. This is a great thread.
