  1. I don't know the lake all that well but I used to fiah it frequently with my old club. I don't have a boat but I am willing to get some lines wet with you. Lmb are best caught on the northern end but they seem to be be getting rare thanks to the spots. Spots can be found around points, docks and sharp drop-offs all over the lake and they fight like a rodeo bull.
  2. It has been a long time since I have visited this site and I am very pleased to see that there are a ton of great people that still frequent it. I ran a charity organization for a few years that gave kids the opportunity to fish for the first time and I have to say that seeing the smiles on their faces is worth everything to me. I have run into hard times lately due to losing a great job but I have just ventured into the challenging world of car sales. I pledge a minimum of $100 from my first commission check, but my goal is going to be $500. I will be working very hard to make this happen. It makes my heart feel good to take on this goal in my life. I support what you are doing 100%. John B
  3. Hey all. Sorry that I have been a stranger for a while. I have been unemployed. Still trying to find a good job. If I finally get one I plan on being there.
  4. Dicks Sporting Goods carries it in my area.
  5. I know that you said for night fishing but, if you can find it, a sun tan lotion or spray with real coconut oil in it keeps them away very well. When I can locate it, I use it while on my job since I work outdoors. Panama Jack used to use real oil in theirs a few years ago, not sure if they still do or not.
  6. From the sound of it, I missed out on some very fine fishing. Congrats to all on your catches. Initially, I had to cancel out of the trip due to financial issues. As it turned out, I would have had to pass on the trip anyways as I have been nursing 3 broken ribs for the past month. 39 year old men just are not built for falling off of dirt bikes anymore, but it was fun and I look forward to riding AND fishing again soon. Fishing will be first.
  7. You nailed it. good job. It was the Hurrican Craw color.
  8. Around my parts a replica is around $11-$15 an inch (length).
  9. Jig, T-rig worm, beaver, weightless senko jerked over the top of the grass and let it drop in any holes. Also toss the senko just at the outer edge of the grass, let it sink and give it a small twitch or two and let it sit for a bit.
  10. The gator was nice enough to cut the line for me. I had a gator that was about 15' blow up on a frog out in the open. It cut the frog and hook in half like a pair of wire cutters. Speaking of brave/crazy...we say people inertubing on the lake. Idiots if you ask me.
  11. Caught this on a ribbit frog with a 5/0 hook this weekend. You can still see the frog hanging over the top of its mouth where the hook got set. It was roughly 4' long and we guessed about 30lbs.
  12. I got to go fish a 2 day tourny at Lake Eufaula, GA this past weekend. The fist day my partner and I spent 10hrs on the lake and I only caught 1 3lb LMB and a 2lb striper. On the second day we went to a different part of the lake and spent 3 hours trying to figure out what the fish were hitting. When we found it we only had 2hrs left till turn in. My partner got skunked again but I pulled in 5LMB on a weightless senko. 2 were not keepers but 3 were and weighed 2.6, 4.3 and 4.9. I also managed to pull in this 4' gator on my carbonlite rod and reel. We guessed it weighed about 30lbs and you can still see part of my frog stuck on the side of it's moust where the 5/0 hook was set. It was a rush to say the least. Sorry for pick quality as it was taken from my phone.
  13. SoFlaBassAddict, you will catch them. As for the reels, I have 3 of the carbonlite reels now and I love them. Those buggers cast an easy country mile. I got rid of my Johnny Morris Signature series reels so I could buy a couple more carbonlite reels. Thank you to all for the comments on the fish. It felt great to finally catch one on a jig and a good one at that. John
