  1. Recently purchased my first boat, a Skeeter ZX190 but it was missing the console unit. It initially had a Lowrance x135. Anyone know of an updated unit that has gps capability that would fit in that place in the console? Thanks.
  2. Recently out of college and finally got my first job. FIrst big investment will be a bass boat (Eventually) and wanted to get some input on what you would think is the best boat if I can find it used. Base your thoughts on probably price, motor and overall quality. Plus I dont necessarily need a 21 footer with a 250 hp motor, just a quality boat that I can compete in my tournaments. Thanks!
  3. Just got my Columbia PFG Supercell Gear and its by far the best IMO. Most breathable and useful for fishing.
  4. Dont overlook this for largemouth either
  5. I have about 10 setups as of now, but what I'm lacking is a frog setup as well as a jig/heavy flippin setup. Just wondering what (if possible) would you recommend for these 2 techniques that I can get away with on one quality rod ($100-$170).
  6. What's funnier is that Martens was using one and he did all he could to hide it from the camera since he's not sponsored by them. Later he said "I can't say what I used, but Kevin would have been proud"....
  7. I just wanted to get some input from others on how they like 5:3:1 reels for their cranking. I mostly shallow crank and have always used a 6:3:1 but lately have gotten interested in the slower ratio. Are they useful for all cranking or just when your deep diving?
  8. I agree that alot of the Quantum gear has vastly improved over the years. I'm strictly a quantum user and I love how they've progressed. I recently added a smoke pt and another energy pt to my lineup and couldn't be happier. BTW, listening to G.Swindle and some of the other guys using Quantum they also agree that Quantum is getting better and better...yes they are sponsored, but when it comes to their newer lineups (Smoke, etc.), they aren't afraid to tell you how much they love it.
  9. So a pretty good consensus for the 7' M for cranking?
  10. I've always been a quantum guy so I have no experience with Abu Garcia. I have come across a deal where I can get 50% off some stuff and wanted suggestions on rods. I was looking at the Veritas. Which ones would be best for 1) cranking 2) Jig 3) Frog based on how stiff the blanks are, the taper, etc. thanks
  11. The original vicious does have problems but I recently upgraded to the Vicious Elite and love it.
  12. In my experience all I've had were Quantum Energy rods, then stepped up to Shimanos, then Powell. Compared to those others, they aren't even close to the quality of Powell. And I'm not sponsored or anything so this isnt a plug, but their warranty, customer service (literally the owener, Keith, will sit and talk for half an hour to make sure you get the right stick), and their quality is great. As for balance, I would agree that a little heavier reel (premeir, energy pt) will work a little better, but I chose the smoke because i flip 60% of the time so i wanted something lighter.
  13. Same balance if not better. Like I said, I've been throwing lightweight baits thus far and with a very light reel in the Smoke and the rod isnt overpowering or unbalanced in any way.
  14. Hey guys, I see that several guys up here use Powells and haven't seen anything about the Endurance series so I thought I would post my own review for those considering it. First off, let me say these are what you would expect from Powell, same form, same handle design, etc. On the 723 which I got the guides are a bit smaller and of course the color is different (Black, some pink and some purple ; dont let that throw you off because it looks great and isnt overpowering). I got this rod for flipping light texas rigs and it does that perfectly. A sturdy backbone with an extra fast tip this rod flips down to 1/8 oz weight baby rage craws fine. Overall I would suggest it for anyone considering Powell. P.S. : paired it with a Quantum Smoke PT 7:0:1
