  1. Ok I remember a while back reading someone one here that got a sponsorship from a local car dealership where they worked out a deal that they get a new truck every year for free (but they didn't actaully own it they just paid insurance ect.) and then theyd trade it for the new one the next year. In return they worked at sales and things like that. I would like to know if anyone has something like this, how you can talk a dealership into doing that without getting laughed at. How do you approach it, who do you ask for when you go there, what can you do for that company?
  2. Hey guys I've got some good new, I'm 17 and I live in Clinton, IN. I'm a senior in high school and I fish as a co-angler on the Hoosier div. of the BFL. Right now I'm 10th in the points. well anyways there is this publisher my mom met and she told him about me and he wanted to do a story on my being so young and doing good in the BFL, so he did the article and had it published in most of the newspapers from here to Indianapolis. It wasn't much he just talked about how I plan on going to college in Business Marketing and trying to make it pro and combining my degree with fishing. So today im at home and I get a call from my local new, they want to do a story on me! He is going to go fishing with me at a local lake and he said he might even go to Lake Monroe this or next month so he can get some shots of me taking off and weighing in and stuff like that. I'm going to go as a boater next year, I have a 1997 19' Ranger and I do have alot of knowledge of fishing (Alot from you guys). Lets just hope when I get out there I can prove it with the camera on me, any tips on how I can stay calm and things to talk about and stuff like that? I'm pretty sure I seen someone post there Local News clip on here I cant remeber who it was though. I'm definitley going to pre-fish like crazy that way I know I can catch some fish. Well I thought I'd just let you know, i'm pretty happy, but nervous. I'll be sure to mention Bassresource.com
  3. Ok I guess I'll throw in my opinion. I think that a replica is better because it saves the bass, but I'm not against anyone getting a skin mount done. Some of you say that there isn't anything like the real thing and that the replicas look to fake, but if you have a good taxidermist you shouldn't be able to tell the difference between the real and fiberglass replica. Just my 2 cents
  4. I'm not sure how fast they actually are but I know there are times when i make a bast cast or something and I want it back in a hurry and I am reeling back as fast as I can with a 6.2:1 baitcaster and a bass will hit it. So I'm sure I cant reel in faster than a bass.
  5. Well I have a few weaknesses, right now it is that I cant find a weight to punch through the ice, but when there is no ice, I'm not very good during rain and/or cold. I am anxious for this year that because I have a lot more knowledge of where to look for the fish in these situations. So I guess i'll give it a try in about a month or 2, jeeze, 1 month, that is like 744 hours of not fishing. Winter is killing me.
  6. I like to just take pics and let them go, although I do have one on the wall, from now on I will most likely get a replica.
  7. I pull my boat with a Ford Explorer Sport Trac, with the 4.0 6 Cyl. It pulls with no problems. My boat is pretty light though it is just a 15 foot fiberglass Astro. Now these guys have me worryin about gettin a tranny cooler though lol
  8. You almost have to read it though, just to see what he makes up next. lol
  9. I think I would have to say....... 1) Rick Clunn 2) Jimmy Houston 3) Joe Thomas
  10. Would I be better off going into the business and talking to the head person, or making a resume similar to what people post on this forum and sending it through the mail? I would think that talking in person would be better, but a resume would also be good because I can give a little about myself. What would I put on the resume?
  11. ok, thanks that what I needed to know
  12. what are some good precautions and things that are necessary when storing a boat for the winter. I'm about to call it quits till nest year and this is the fisrt year I've owned a bass boat, what are the things I need to do? I'm more of a do it yourselfer and I'm good with engines and stuff. Thanks
  13. well i found joe thomas's home webpage with his email address, I will type an emial and see if he'd be willing to answer a few ?'s, hopefully he will be nice to enough to send me an email back, all I can do is try lol
  14. Avid that was pretty funny lol, some addresses would be nice, I'm sure someone would be nice enough to answer a few ?'s, anyone have Kevin VanDams email? lol Where can I find Aaron Martins webpage? I searched on Google but I am a little computer retarded so I probably just didn't see it.
  15. Well, I plan on trying my ways in the BFL next year as a co-angler, I'm not really there to win, but I do want to learn as much as possible. I wanted to get a few local businesses to kinda help me financially, and I'm pretty confident that they will help me out, but what is the proper way of asking for money from someone?lol The people I am thinking of asking dont really make products I can help get out, they are like construction, or excavating, businesses like that. Should I type something out and give it to them? If so what would I put. I'm thinking of having a shirt, and if they give me x amount I will put their name on the shirt, and if they give me x amount more I could put a sticker on my boat, because I fish locally ALL the time, so it would be good advertisement for them that way. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm also thinking of asking some sponsors on here but that will be on a different post, maybe discounts, etc. So basically what would I say walking into the business. Thanks
  16. Hey, I've got this school project I've got to do, and one of the things we have to do is interview someone about their job, and I'd like to do it on a touring pro. I know alot of you fish tournies but are there any of you out there that actually fish for a living? Thanks for the help
  17. yea about once or twice a year someone will pull out a 6 or 7 pounder, I think someone caught a 6.5 on a nightcrawler a few weeks ago.
  18. I will try those. I also forgot to include that the only fish here are bluegill and bass with just a few crappie. So the food source will be bluegill and crayfish. Would that change anything?
  19. I have a few local lakes, pretty small maybe a few acres each. It is a club that owns them but everybody and their brother fish them, so they have a lot of fishing pressure. The thing is I can go tear the dinks up like 10-12" on a weightless senko (I'm the only one around here that uses this I think lol) Now I know there are big fish in there because I see them all the time, I see a lot of 5-6 pounders (remember I'm in Indiana, thats pretty big). I cannot figure out how to get them to bite. This water is super clear, I mean clear, like I can see the bottom in 20' of water. The deepest spot in the lakes are usually around 30', and there are weeds (not sure what kind)and structure, and some cover. how would you try to get bigger ones here? It seems like when I do see the big ones they are usually cruisin a steep drop into deeper water, but HOW DO I CATCH THEM?
  20. Lately I have been having trouble finding the bass in my usual spots. The lake I fish has no weeds and not a whole lot of cover either. What would be good stategy to try to find the fish next time I go out, maybe a search lure or something and start shallow and work my way deep, I think once I find them I could start catching a lot that day but I am having trouble finding them in the first place, and advice?
