Ideally for a crankbait rod you want one with moderate or moderate fast action. The power isn't really as important. You can get a M, MH, or H as long as they have a moderate or moderate fast action. *EDIT* The BCC-4-17 would be a great choice for an all around crankbait rod. It's 7", but I think you'd love it.

The Curado is an excellent reel and they can be used for pretty much anything.

I agree. Even a top-of-the-line reel from 20 years ago isn't as some of the cheaper reels available today. Technology has come a LONG way.

I agree with RW...you'd be better off spending money on a few really nice rigs instead of a lot of mediocre ones.
