  1. I was fishing on a river bank without a whole lot of room for a back cast. It was a nice warm summer day in Oregon and I had my tackle box sitting on a small dirt ledge about waist high. I went to cast and I had hooked my tackle box on the back cast and flung the entire thing into the river. Unfortunately, the tackle box was open and I saw all of my lures floating away! So I had to srtrip down jump in the water and save all of my lures. Definitely a bill dance bloopers moment.
  2. Hey there. I'm a local casitas bank fisherman. February should be alright. A couple things to keep in mind that the water is usually gin clear and that they will be stocking trout. It can be tough this time of year . My suggestion would be to talk with the guy at the marina. He has that place wired.
  3. It was a well known that while in his prime with the A's, Jason Giambi, and teammates would wear a thong underwear during a slump to break out of it. Will it work for you? I don't know, but make sure you don't bend down in front of the cameras if you do. In other words, get your mind off it. Grilling yourself won't get you anywhere.
  4. I agree, give them both a shot. Always good to mix things up. I go with worms first and then tubes. But only because I have more confidence in them.
  5. Thanks for the input guys! Keep it coming. Fished yesterday, caught a dink on a drop shot in about 15 feet of water. Worked that kastmaster also. You guys throw deep diving cranks also? or predominantly swimbaits?
  6. Hey! All you that are just passing over and reading this, post your opinions. I want to know what you think.
  7. Hey guys, I should preface this post with the fact that I am a Casitas bank fisherman. I have been fishing and doing pretty good and then all of a sudden have not been able to locate baitfish or any topwater action. Think the bass have eaten them all. Are you guys out there experiencing the same thing at your local lakes? Also, from a bank fisherman's vantage point, what would you guys suggest?
  8. drop shot would work well so you are above the weeds. Good idea.
  9. Who gives a crap about what cigar butts or cigarette filters are made of! Do they occur naturally in the lake? NO. So pack them with you! >
  10. Hey guys, Have you recently experienced a little bass lock jaw? I found that this to be true last year, exactly at this time of year. Let me know if you guys are slaying them or are experiencing the same thing as I am.
  11. I had this problem as well until I bumped up my line strength. I started out using 6 lb mono and lost EVERYTHING! Since I switch to 8 lb floro I have done much better with losing stuff. Another thing you could try to to take off the front hook on your cranks, that is a little risky, but you might not get stuck as much. As for the jigs, work them slower and really concentrate on the bottom or branches you are coming in contact with.
  12. Hey great story! The stories are one of the best parts about fishing.
  13. I would use my cranks first and then slow down to a carolina rig if that didn't bring in any fish.
  14. bigbass2204, listen carefully to what everyone has said on this issue. Do not take the years of learning and experiencing and advice these people are giving you for granted. Kick butt in school and fish when you are done with your homework. Get up super early if you have to. School will surely develop the analytical skills you will need on the water. It will make you be able to process information faster and more efficiently than the other guy. Good luck mate and keep that dream burning. There are a lot of guys in your shoes and if you want to be up there, you need to stand out above the crowd. Also, check out the college bass circuit. Pretty cool stuff.
  15. I definitely work on my techniques everytime I go fishing. I usually start off with my weakest bait, that fits the situation, and fish that for awhile. I will then go to my strong baits. After I have caught a fish, I will then switch back over to a weak bait and work on that. This pattern makes me practice and allows me to get better for those days when the bite is really tough. The more weapons you have in your holster the better.
