I can't comment on the field and stream rod but I have a lightning rod and I had a shock. I would take the original over the shock any day, even if they were the same price. The shock had too much of a wet noodle feeling for me.
I have fished around them all my life and have had no problem. They usually only become aggressive if they have a nest or someone is/was feeding them. Leave them alone and they will leave you alone.
i have a 501pt and love it so far. I use it for pitching 99% of the time and have the flipping switch on all the time, tied my PB(9lbs) with it a few months ago also. I can't comment on longevity though as I haven't had it very long. It was only $50 on ebay brand new
I got a vicious popper the other day. I only got to make a few casts with it but I did have a blow up on it. It looks good in the water for only being $2.
I am fairly new to braid and got some 832 to put on a pitching combo. Before the braid limbered up there was little to no rod tip wrap, but now that it is broken in it has been getting worse. Is this common with most braids and can I correct it by changing my technique? It is 50lb braid
Thanks
I use the roosters, they are great. I primarily fish them weightless and have caught some good ones on them. They also produce t-rigged, c-rigged, flipped, pitched ect...
I use a 4/0 straight shank gamakatsu with 7" (give or take) ribbon tails like culprits or zoom mags. I think I get better hook ups than the EWG's I used to use.
