  1. What are some of the benefits of making your own rods? Is it cheaper? And what would i need to get started in it. Thanks in advance!
  2. very nice!
  3. x2 most people dont think of something like that, i too have got that feeling of needing to slow it down or thought i was about to get a bite and in most cases im right.
  4. I think if you explained your situation they wouldnt have a problem with it, You could atleast give it a try and see what you think
  5. congrats on a nice fish! Hope you continue with your success. Always tight lines! ;D
  6. Ive used both but you cant go wrong with either one. But some prefer the stx over the sx, reason being the stx has the dual breaking system and is supposed help against backlashing. I dont know if it warrants the extra money though, they are both outstanding reels. But i would buy the sx and use the extra money to buy lures you dont need ;D
  7. x2 witnessed the same thing, local creek backed up, and the bass paled,(i think i scared them) ;D
  8. Thanks for the suggestions will try it out and see, this pond seems to have potential. Have caught a 5lb er out of it, buts its ridiculous to see all the swirls when you throw your bait and for some reason i think that they are all small fish. They all seem incredibly healthy and fat and are deep green. just cant seem to get any more big ones to bite. Ive never seen stranger behavior out of bass. its kinda perplexing to fish this pond.
  9. Alright i fish a pond with some monster bass and just a ton of fish in general, but the pond is nearly covered in water shield (lily pad look alike), ive used top water frogs and jigs and such. But as soon as you cast 15-20 fish break the surface and swim off. There are pockets of dirt and grass that float up and they hang out in that stuff. What should i throw to get them to hit better. i thought about throwing a crankbait into open pockets and ripping it out. or tieing on a swimbait.whats yalls thoughts
  10. Thank you all good advice has helped alot, And money is no issue i want the best of the best. But i dont want to spend hundreds of dollars for a piece of crap.l
  11. x2 30lb. is sufficient for most everything, and smaller diameter should allow you to get more distance in a cast.
  12. Im torn between abu garcia, shimano, and quantum. possibly abu garcia premier or something. or a top end shimano or quantum. What is the best and why?
  13. The two ponds i fish have the exact same thing. And yes they are bass because i have caught them, usually a top water frog works. But they are sometimes as many as 10 in one little area and when they swim they push a wake of water in front of them and you can see their dorsal and tail fins sticking out. And unless carp put on a bass suit then they are bass. And i have no idea why they do it.
  14. wd-40 for real ; :-?
  15. lol x2 but i thought the same thing ;D monster fish
  16. x2 although bass resource has been a big help
  17. I hooked on a lmb it was huge jumped 3 times and finally broke my line (30# power pro) musta been on atleast 2 mins before it broke off. i was guessing around 10+ pounds.
  18. Ive used a 2/0 hook on it and noticed no difference in action, and i prefer the bigger hook,a confidence thing i guess. ;D tight lines
  19. its only illegal if you get caught i would just call your local agfc and ask, i have a hunch that they will know. ;D tight lines
  20. I vary, i always like going to a pond, but also enjoy going to big lakes. Just depends on how much time i have.
  21. Ive had alot of luck catching spawning bass on topwater frogs , i just try and figure out what kind of retrieve they want. Just try and get it across the beds, the goal is to pi$$ them off enough to get a reaction strike. Multiple casts to the beds. good luck and tight lines ;D
  22. thermocell hands down it works wonders. Also pair with a deet formula bug spray ;D tight lines
  23. My thumbs peel really bad all the time from lippin lmb, its kinda a constant reminder of the fish ive caught. And lets others know that i do actually catch fish. ;D ;D thats my badge of honor
