  1. Thanks for you couple of guys that sent me messages with websites, I really appreciate it. They are really helpful!
  2. Well, I'm finally in Bakersfield and I'm settled. I do have to tell ya, driving through Bakersfield and seeing the 'River' have no water in it what-so-ever really makes a guy feel empty inside! I'm settled down and looking for some places to fish, if anyone has any suggestions, give me a hollar. I unfortunetly don't have a boat as I sold it a few months ago, so try to take that into consideration when giving me some advise
  3. Thanks Fellas, yall have helped a bunch. I think I'll just need to scout this river some time soon and see what I'm up against and where I'll actually be able to productively fish.
  4. Where in the Kern river is fishing decent? Bakersfield proper or the state park? Thanks a bunch for your help!
  5. Reposted from general thread -------------------------------------------------------- I am moving to Bakersfield, California, and i recently sold my boat, so I think I'm stuck with fishing the Kern river for a while. A few questions, as I have never really river fished for largemouth (I'm from Texas and we have a surplus of amazing lakes, never wanted to fish rivers). What do I use? Where do I fish? Is structure just as important? Stick with soft plastics or do I switch to the rugger spinners and crank baits and rattle traps? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks fellas
  6. Well I'm just asking for general river fishing techniques, doesn't really matter to me if it's California related or not

  8. Yeah, you heard right...leaving the heaven of bass fishing in Texas and moving the great unknown for me in Bakersfield. Sold my boat to help pay for the new home, don't know a soul, and don't know how the fishing is in/around Bakersfield. I hear Isabella is decent, but it seems pretty big for someone with no boat, but man do I love lake fishing. I'm new to the forums and am looking forward to get to know all of ya'll. I've been bass fishing for a good 10 years and I love to worm fish. Top half of my tackle box is filled with an assortment of wave worms, texas rigged worms and the like. I tend to use an occasional crainkbait, spinner bait and rattle trap, but the places I'm used to fishing in Texas, a worm was all that was needed. How is Kern River fishing? Are the fish big? Are there places I can fish outside of Bakersfield proper? I'm not a fan of fishing next to freeways and speeding traffic, i like the quietness of the country and not seeing many people while I fish. If anyone would like to get together and fish, lemme know, I'm always up for fish stories and fishing trips. -Chris
  9. Howdy ya'll I'm new to the forums, but not new to fishin'! Born and raised in Texas and learned all my fishing in East Texas fishing Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend. I'm moving to Bakersfield, California in about a month due to my wife's new job and to be honest, I'm kinda bummed to be missing out on my Texas fishing. I recently just sold my boat to help pay for the new home in California (so much more expensive than Texas) so now I'm boatless, fishing in a state I don't know, and don't know anyone! What else...I'm an Aggie by proxy and work at the Texas A&M Police Department in College Station, Texas, whoop!
