    A decent rod for that reel would be a Berkley Lightning Rod for 35.00. That's the same out fit I started out with.

    WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You might have a problem if you're looking for just one set-up to jig with plus throw deep crank baits. The 6'6" ML rod just won't cut it for throwing deep cranks.

    If I were you , I would get the avids , a great rod .

    Each to their own but I use braid with a leader of flouro . Definately less stretch.

    Never used that particular rod but you are correct the high graphite rods are more likely to break if you aren't more careful with them.
