  1. Thanks guys, I thought it was a largemouth at first, but after I pulled in a few more "standard" looking ones this one had me thinking. Thanks for the info!
  2. I caught this bass today in a little 3 acre retention pond. It was my first fish out of the pond, and it put up quite a fight. Bringing her in, it just didn't appear like a normal largemouth. Its color was very light, and it had various size spots randomly around it's back, and the eyes were an orangish/light brown color. I'm thinking it was a spotted bass, but I have never seen one or heard of anybody catching one around here. Either way she was a solid 3+ lbs and I hope I can bring her in again to get another look. So what kind of bass is this?
  3. I am still pretty new to fishing, but learning everyday! Anyways, I just got a great deal on a new rod/reel but I don't know what to use it for or what to spool it with. I got a St. Croix Avid 7'6" MH Mod Fast, paired with an new Revo-STX. What would you use this set-up for? I probably should have figured this out first, but it was too good of a deal to pass up and I figured I just learn something new with it. The ice should be gone in about a week and I can't wait to try something on this, so how would you set this up? Thanks in advance.
  4. I was having the same problem a little while back. I switched from spinners to senkos and I now catch 10 to 1 bass vs. pike. It also seems like color has somethign to do with it. If I used a black and red powerbait worm I am guaranteed to catch pike on it. Once I change it out to a different color, I'll start getting bass again. I'm not sure why it is, but that is just how it works for me.
  5. That sounds so easy, but it's so tempting to bring along when you know it works. This year I would say 9 out of 10 of my fish are on senkos. I really want to have another one or two go to baits, but the senkos are just so hard to give up!
  6. I got back into fishing again about 3 years ago, and I started out doing alright. I have been lurking on the forums for over a year and it has drasticlly improved my confidence and catch rate! It is amazing how much you can pick up from this site by just listening to everyone. The only down side is I have spent more on fishing gear in the last year then I ever have! Thank you to everyone for providing so much valuable information, I look forward to learing a whole bunch more.
