  1. Depends if I am with my son or not. He is a numbers kinda kid but would be happy to fish all day for a 5lber. He's 11. Never met a kid who will fish for hours without a bite in hopes of a monster fish(for him) Doesn't complain, doesn't whine, just casts and casts in hopes of hooking "the one" Go big or go home I always say. The trip is not made by size or the amount of fish caught. The trip is made by the friendships, the scenery, and how well the boat ran, and whether or not your going to get in trouble for fishing too long when you get home......
  2. From experience. If you have a CO pull up on you and you have your casting deck filled with rods for bass fishing and have spinnerbaits, cranks, jigs, etc. tied on you are going to get a ticket for fishing out of season. The judge will uphold the ticket because you had multiple bass fishing lures attached to multiple bass fishing rods and are casting for "X" during a closed season. The judge is going to be more apt side with the CO and when the CO asked you flat out "are you fishing for bass?" you can either lie or tell the truth. Most law enforcement can smell a lie farther than a John Daly drive......
  3. The motor had a good pee stream even after it lost power. My temp gauges didn't go off but, I will check both before taking her in.
  4. Gonna have some time on Wed to take a look at it. Hopefully I can figure it out so I dont have to spend the 95.00 per hour fee. The fact that it ran fine all day and suddenly lost power and sputtered makes me think it could just be a small fix. keeping my fingers crossed
  5. Welcome aboard I love your articles and look forward to your contributions to the fourm
  6. If you are not very computer saavy it can be a bit intimidating especially if you don't like change. However, I think most members will see that Glenn has put together a great setup that will allow BR to reach new heights in terms of knowledge available and member benefits. Give it time. Personally, I think its a big improvement
  7. I am also in the market for a new TM. Currently, I have a 54lb thrust on an 18 ft boat. I think my boat would leave a rooster tail if I had 80lb of thrust. However, go big or go home. At some point you will wish you had more power
  8. oops I meant 5000RPMs to 3500 (not 500) sorry
  9. Ok Guys, you have never let me down before so here goes: Took the boat out for its maiden 2011 run. She started right up, water temps 48. I let her idle for about ten minutes to let it warm up properly. Got a good hole shot, ran about a mile and idled for probably 20 minutes. I fished for an hour with the TM and cranked up the motor to go back in. Again, everything was fine. About a half mile from takeoff she dropped from 500RPMs to about 3500rpms. At that point I threw her in nuetral and it sounded like I had lost a few plugs. By the time I got to the ramp as soon as I would put her in gear it would stall. Motor is a 96 Johnson 150. Never had an issue with the motor and just had a tune up last spring and ran fine all year. The gas had been filled and seafoam added before winter. I wanted to run it once to see if I should take her in for another tune up. Guess I will now. Thanks for the feedback guys. Could it be a bad fuel pump? Maybe just fouled plugs?
  10. Cadburry actually makes a peanut butter egg along with their traditional egg. Personnally, I prefer the Reeses ones, but thats just me. I don't like the Cadburry cream, too much sugar....
  11. In most little league rules once the ball gets back to the pitcher the play is considered dead and time is called. However, As the coach of an 8U, 10U, 11U, 12U, and 13U travel baseball team that is the first thing we teach the kids about base running during tournament games. If the ball is in play advance to the next base until someone picks it up. There are different rules for different leagues though. Your league official should have provided each coach with a set of rules at the beginning of the season. Good Luck.
  12. This is going to take a bit to get used to. I am SO used to the old format. Everything looks different and new.. I'm scared....... LOL This is great! thanks Glenn
  13. Why do you want to remove the DC???? It provides wind break for any rider you may have, and a bit of added space to store gear out of the elements.
  14. If you are going to LSC in the spring do NOT forget some Super FLukes.. Pearl or bubble gum. And Jenga: X2 on the lipless cranks
  15. I am thinking of going with a Pinnacle Platinum for a first time baitcaster for my son. He is constantly using mine. Most of my baitcasters are either BPS pro qualifiers or Shimanos. My question is: this rod will be used for everything from spinnerbaits to crankin and everything in between. In my experience with some "starter reels" in the past their breaking systems have actually made it harder to cast and prevent backlash due to lower end materials etc. How does the Pinnacle Platinum stand up to say a BPS pro qualifier? I really like the look and feel of the reel. Thanks for the feedback everyone.
  16. X3 Dont forget to wipe it down and check for loose items that may blow out during the trip home. (i.e. life jackets, wallet, phone, towels, etc.) Yep, lost em all at one point or another
  17. They make a mooring stake out of PVC pipe that you basically screw into the ground in the lakes of northern Mi. Especially for the party coves. However, Rhino is correct, why not trailer it up? It only takes 5 minutes and your boat is absolutely secure. If its a matter of not having a ramp or you are in a remote location then I have also seen (and done) beach the boat and tie it off to a tree
  18. I am actually excited to work it. If nothing else it will be an enjoyable day on the water. it may be tough not to get a line wet though. IMO it is imperitive that we continue to bring young people into our sport. This seems like a good organization and I also have an 11 year old who would love to participate but they are full. I will keep you posted when the event happens
  19. What health issues did he have? Cancer?
  20. Whats funny is that you can't really tell when he is being serious and when its schtick. I love Zona....
  21. already did. You need the same coverage as fishing tournaments. The lake I volunteered for is TM only also
  22. Curious: Have any of you volunteered to donate your boat for youth bass tourneys? I signed up for the Cincinnati youth bass club and am actually very excited to help get kids into the sport. Just curious what kind of experience you all have had doing this type of thing. Thanks for the feedback
  23. Tough conditions lately with all the weather changes. Don't get discouraged. Fish are very lethargic in these temps and chances are you are fishing too fast. When you think you are fishing too slow, slow down.
  24. Went out for the second time this season yesterday. Air temps in the mid 50s, water temps in the upper end of the lake 48.5 degrees. Hit lake points and shallower coves in every section of the water column trying to find fish. We tossed cranks, blade baits, jerkbaits, shaky heads, jigs. Nothing. Had one hit on a Gulp shaky head spot remover. We mainly fished the upper end of the lake as the temps were a bit higher. Marked fish suspended but could not get a bite. This lake is less than a mile from my house so I will fish it often this year. Looking for some more feedback on the lake
  25. BTS The only thing I use on my boat. Ocassionally, you can recieve discounts for being a member here on BR (hint hint BTS advertisers)
