  6. AJay My brother in law just spent the day with TT and the cup. He got Pics with TT standing by the Cup and Con Trophy. TT then played in a home run derby softball charity event and came in second. I have had the pleasure of drinking a few beers with TT and he is a great guy. Tim played hockey and softball with my Bro in law all through high school up until about two years ago
  7. Only been in Michigan less than a year and your already looking for an escape.... I know the feeling......... I have a few buddies in FL who rent condos. I will PM you if they have any ideas
  8. Depending on the length of your trailer they do make aftermarket swing-away tongue kits for under $100. That would save you more room as well. http://www.trailerandtruckparts.com/Swing-Away-Tongue-Kits_c_221.html
  9. I am appalled and disgusted........ I am also LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. The river can be an excellent place to fish. However, with your boat I would be very careful and pick your days wisely while watching the weather. LSC can get VERY nasty REALLY quickly and you don't want to be out there in 5-6 footers. The river, due to barge traffic etc. can also be quite rough so safety is a huge concern As for as the fishing, the entire lake averages around 15 ft deep with deeper water out in the shipping lanes. I would work the 8-15 foot range from metro beach to 8 mile. Let the current basically drift you down and look for grass patches and shell beds. You should have no trouble hooking up
  11. What are you fishing for? How big is your boat? How long is your stay going to be? These will help the rest of the members give you some more specific answers. I would recommend going anytime from Sept-end of October The 9 mile marina is a great place to launch and Kens Marina has some of the best burgers on the lake IMO Try fishing the mile roads from Metro to 8mile. You will be able to catch smallies, walley, pike, LM, Musky. Drop shotting, bladebaits, tubes, cranks, and jerkbaits should be a good starting point.
  12. sounds to me like you had a small obstruction. Then, when you freshened up the lines, carbs etc. you loosened the obstruction and it cleared. I am in need of cleaning out and replacing my fuel line and bulb as well. You may have just pushed me over the edge. Congrats on fixing it yourself.
  13. Must be raining............... Or, too hot to fish.... Cause I know it isn't winter yet... Lmao
  14. There are places that do harvest the Asian carp, in Asia. Actually saw it on Bizarre Foods and Anthony Bourdain. That would be a good way to keep the population in check and feed thousands of people. Heck, some countries consider the Snakehead a delicacy, why not Asian Carp
  15. Carp can be ground and made into fish patties, much like a crab cake. They are delicious. It can also be pickled like herring. There is a restaurant in Northern Michigan that serves carp broiled with lemon butter, fresh shallots, and served over a creamed spinach that is fantastic.... However, just cutting one up from a river and deep frying it without the proper care is out of the question. Much of the meat will have a brownish color as stated previously. This must be removed as it is similar to the mud vein in other fish. If the proper care is given carp is light, flaky, and quite buttery, much like a chilean sea bass. Proper care when cleaning fish is no different than proper care when field dressing a deer. The more vicera and silver skin you remove from a deer the less gamey it will taste.
  16. If you read the whole article it is pointing out that the Gitzit tube was designed for dropshotting but the further down it explains how tubes are used to bounce off the bottom etc.
  17. I recently purchased a set of Carlisle tires. So far, so good. They are rated very highly on Consumer reports. My last set of GY Marathons bulged out and I was lucky not to have a blowout. There was a huge story recently about GY marathons and blowouts. I believe they were tires manufactured out of the country. Search the site here. There has been multiple tire discussions about this very thing
  18. Just remember Hard work beats Talent when Talent doesn't work hard..........
  19. Contact the local DNR to check for regulations as well Also, one of the best ways to stock cheaply is to transfer fish from one pond to another. Grab a 5gal bucket and go at it. Sooner or later the birds will stock it for you in some fashion. As stated, bass are not cheap to stock. Those can be transferred if you have the means to do it. I would stay away from pike. They can compete heavily with the bass as the dominant predator in the lake and may affect growth rates of bass. just my .02
  20. With the huge number of responses already I feel I am late for the party. However, I would be more that happy to assist with any venture assosiated with BR. It would be an honor to be a part of it in any fashion.
  21. Jackas 3D = Beehive Tether Ball. Hilarious
  22. Actually, I have never had the clear???? Hmmmm might need to be sampled
  23. Or you could just call Yogi and BooBoo
  24. I have had one for a few years and absolutely love it. However, they are not without faults. - If you are using them in steady winds they lose their effectiveness quickly (however, steady winds usually decreases bugs anyhow) - I also use them for bowhunting and have wondered if the scent alerts deer to my position If you are looking for something to use while sitting on a deck, boat, bank, or tree in minimal winds they are FANTASTIC! Also, they have them at BPS with a $5 mail in rebate essentially making them around $14
