  1. Actually, we will be hunting in lower Indiana which is shotgun only. I agree Birddog, although he is an excellent shot (he can bust 90 out of 100 birds from the 18 trap) I completely agree with you. He has access to use muzzleloader, 20ga, or 12ga. I think he is just more confident shooting the .410 because of the lower recoil. Maybe its a first gun, first deer thing too.
  2. I just switched to a 3 bank charger to cover all of my batteries. However, just running your motor should keep your cranking battery charged. I was previously using a 2 bank and they were both on my 2 trolling motor batteries. I never had any issues with my cranking battery not being charged. Cranking battery lasted 3.5 years with moderate use and never didnt crank when asked. I think you will be fine just using the 2 banks for each trolling motor battery.
  3. My son is 12. He wants to go deer hunting this year and he wants to use his .410. None of his shots would be more than 50 yards and his single shot .410 is DBA shooting slugs out to 50 yards. What are your thoughts on this caliber as a sub 50 yard deer gun? Personally, I don't think it is a large enough caliber to be effective but I know a large number of people who have taken whitetails with it.
  4. you may have a blockage in the fuel line or jets. Or, you may need to think about cleaning the carbs. I would start simple and run a can of seafoam through the motor to see if that makes a difference. Then I would start to look at the more detailed issues like foulded carbs etc.
  5. The best advice I can give you is "whichever one you are thinking of buying, get the bigger model" Much like an outboard, you will NEVER complain about getting the bigger one......
  6. Sounds like there are a few back braces from your other unit. Catt is correct. Use bolts it will work better in the long run
  7. sounds like a dead battery. Mine did the same thing a few weeks ago. It also jumped when I tried to lower the motor. Charged the battery and all was fine.
  8. Turn your monitor 90 degrees. Problem solved........... seriously, looks fine to me
  9. GIT!!! GIT!!! GITT!!!! Thats almost as good as " SHOOOOT EM LIZBETH" LMAO
  10. CANADA....................... Hockey, Bacon, Ginger Ale, Crown Royal, oh, and limitless fishing opportunities
  11. Wow! that really surprises me. I would not have thought it would be listed over 10K. Hmmm, if it is really in That good of condition I would try to talk him down as low as possible but at least you know a boundary to stick to. I would offer 10k if all checks out. You can always go up. Good Luck and post some pics if you can
  12. I dont think that boat is worth more than 10k. NADA value. I could be wrong but I have a 96 and I don't think I could get more than 7k for it and it is like new... just my .02
  13. Here is a pic of my wifes PB. Caught in July at Patoka lake IN. She won't let me live it down either.
  14. My wife loves to fish. She actually has the 2011 boat record. So far. A 6.75lber caught on a senko. The funny thing is she prefers fishing with a BPS tourney baitcaster and a Zebco 33 spincast. She's outfished me so I can't poke fun at her. However, she fishes hard for 45 minutes and then catches some rays for a bit.
  15. STupid is is stupid does thats what Mama always said.....
  16. I was just there at the end of July. Temps were not favorable for fishing with air in the mid 90s and water temps in the low 90s. However, in two and a half days we boated 11 bass. My wife caught her PB a 5.75lber on a senko. We caught a few in the 3 range. All fish were caught on finesse presentations in 15-20fow near on in grass. We mostly fished the northern portion of the lake. Send me a PM if you need additional info. Patoka was once a mecca for bass fishing. However over the last 8-10 years I believe the introduction of the stripers has put a serious dent in the bass population as they are no longer the apex predator in the lake. Patoka still hosts over 60 bass tournaments a year but winning bags have been seriously lighter in recent years. The most recent BFL tournament there had a winning total weight of 13lbs. Many of the anglers reported it as the toughest lake they have ever fished.
  17. Honey, I don't know why our house smells like rotting meat????? It definately would work but I don't think I would recommend preparing jerky that way unless I was on an episode of Dual Survival. 1. Filters are not sanitary or food service approved 2. He has the fan blowing from the ground up on his patio?? Hello bugs, oil, gas etc. 3. The carbon or fiberglass fibers that are sticking to that meat are going to give it a nice flavor MMMMMMMM goood
  18. Something doesn't sound right... With that mixture I wouldn't think you would see that much smoke or fouled plugs that quickly. How are you mixing the oil? Are you pre-mixing it before putting it in the tank or adding gas then oil?
  19. Nice. Great Tip
  20. There was just a recent thread here on trailer tires. Maxxus, Carlisles, and GY Marathons (american made only) were the general concensus.

    Slugs

I have a winchester 1300 12ga. Unfortunately, it only likes winchester ammo. I have been using Winchester Platinum Tips for about six years and have yet to have a deer go more than 30 yds. I am getting 2 in groups at 100yds and have taken deer out to 150 using these slugs. The only issue is that my 1300 is synthetic and is fairly light. It definately beats you up on recoil more than any other gun I have fired and that includes 300 win mags, 45/70s and so on.
  22. Megastrike all the way... I have used JJs Magic but unfortunately, spilled it in my boat and it still smells quite strong. I have actually begun to enjoy the sweet smell of garlic on a beautiful morning.
  23. good stuff I would do that.........
  24. X2 Also, when launching by yourself just tie a 20 ft rope to you bow eye and the other to the back of your tow vehicle. when you launch the boat just let it float off. Get out, walk to the back of your truck, unhook the rope and pull your boat to the shore/dock. Tie it off and park your truck. Problem Solved. BTW if you float like a cork just tie some line to your ankle, flop in the water. Look, now you are a bobber...... who needs a boat
