  1. Since the Epley Maneuver worked so well, it may be that you have a condition involving the semicircular canals in the inner ear called BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo). The following link has excellent information about BPPV. If it describes you, try discussing it with your doctor. Good luck! http://www.tchain.com/otoneurology/disorders/bppv/bppv.html
  2. Surgery should only be considered as a last resort. Physical therapy can help you get through this. Find a McKenzie certified P.T. - go to mckenziemdt.org and use the therapist locator to find a certified or diploma therapist in your area. I use these techniques with my patients and have had success treating problems like yours. It's a difficult problem, but explore all treatment options.
  3. You might try a product named Zud. My brother used to collect beer cans and we used it to take rust off of old cans. If I remember correctly it had oxalic acid in it and it worked well on the rust. Don't rub too hard as it is abrasive.
  4. Try draining some water from the spigot at the bottom of the tank. You may have sediment built up at the bottom of the tank. It's not a bad idea to drain it periodically. John
  5. Google "plyometrics". This is an exercise technique used to develop the explosive muscle contraciton used for jumping. See if you can find plyometric exercises for the lower extremities. John
  6. My father does this with oak and cherry trees on his property. Try to cut them longer, eight feet is a better length. Once cut to length, find somebody with a portable saw mill. They are like a big band saw. This person can cut them into boards for you. Once you have it cut into boards it will have to be "stuck" - stacked to dry with small sticks between the boards so air can circulate. The person that cuts it for you should be able to tell you how to do it or do a search on the internet. Once it's dry you will probably have to have it kiln dried. It sounds like a lot of work, but it's worth it. I helped my Dad do this to a big cherry, and he used it to make all the moldings for the baseboards, windows and doors in the house he built - it's beautiful. John
  7. I'm not much of a musky fisherman, but plenty of people fish for them on Tamarack. Most of the time they seem to be throwing big jerk baits for them, usually at the ends of the lake where there is deeper water. There are many musky in the lake. The lake was drained about five years ago for dam repairs, and has come back nicely. No gasoline engines are allowed on the lake, so put a good charge on the trolling motor battery.
  8. I live in NW PA and am lucky to have a lot of water to fish. Presque Isle Bay and lakes that include Pymatuning, Conneaut, Tamarack, Wilhelm, Arthur and Woodcock. We also have a number of tout streams and French Creek that has about anything you would want to catch. A longer drive will take you to Chataqua Lake in NY, or even the rivers in Pittsburgh. Lots of good bass fishing - we are fortunate!
  9. BASS sent me a book once that I had not requested. I called them, told them that I had not requested the book and didn't feel like sending it back. They told me just to keep it. If you are sent unsolicited merchandise in the mail, you are under no obligation to return it.
  10. I usually log in once a day, sometimes twice. It sure has helped winter go by. Ice came off the lakes this past week and I thought I might be fishing this weekend. Instead, we get one of our worst storms of the winter yesterday and today. Will it ever end?
  11. From what I have read, the numbers of people fishing are declining. And we all know there are plenty of folks out there that would like to see even less of us. If the publicity gets more people buying licenses and getting out fishing, it's a good thing. We gain political power - more attention to clean water, developing new fisheries and maintaining the facilities we currently have. While it may mean more people on the water, we can all benefit in the long run.
  12. Good commercial! Evinrude must have hired an ad agency with a sense of humor. How about the commercial with the two guys flying down the lake and the driver's clothes fly off. It makes me laugh each time I see. It's usually on every Saturday morning on ESPN2.
  13. Fishing everywhere around here was tough last spring and summer. It was cold, and the rain never stopped. I suspect that since it never really got warm in the spring, they never moved into the bay like they usually do. We've had another bad winter, with ice still on the bay. Our club is sponsoring a tournament on the bay on 4/10, and were hoping the ice is gone by then.
  14. We have a lot of fun with the smallmouth on Presque Isle Bay off Erie, PA in the spring. Soon after ice-out the smallmouth move into the bay following the bait fish, and later to spawn.
