  1. Have a look at the st croix glass cranking rods. They get really good reviews and won icast best in show. I know a few guys who have then and say they are amazing.
  2. Hey all, I have an older Stella 2500 FD (2007) that's is in perfect working and physical condition. Only issue is the handle knob is rubber and it's breaking down. I remember years back I had stradic 2500/3000's that had same knobs that needed to be replaced as well. I called Shimano and these parts are discontinued, so my option was eBay. I found a knob from a 3000 size Stella that seller says will fit several models. I kinda have no other options at this point, anyone know if this knob will fit? Looks like it will?...
  3. Start at the source, check to make sure the battery is in proper working order. Check the voltage at the batter, if it's at acceptable voltage check it with the TM on high. If there is an issue check the wiring, if it's good then the TM has an issue and you can narrow down the issue. But I would start jumping until battery is ruled out.
  4. Interesting, gonna have to give that one a try.
  5. I’m not a very tall guy 5’8” so I need a little shorter rod. I use a 6’6” med fast and it works great. Nice soft tip to work the bait but solid back bone to set the hooks home. Works great for those 110 size baits. If I go to a little larger jerk bait the rod is a little too light but for 90% of my jerkbaiting it’s perfect.
  6. I have tried several over the years and have to say the g loomis e6x drop shot rod is a great stick at med xf. I find the ML Xf just doesn't have the back bone I need for these big ontario Smallies. I was losing fish on the ML rods especial in deep water. Made the switch to the e6x and I just don't lose fish anymore. 2500 reel with 15# braid and a 8# flouro leader. Awesome rod and reasonably priced.
  7. I have merc pro xs manual says 87-91 ethanol free if possible. Up my way 87/89 have up to 10% ethanol. I was having some issues with poor idle and performance with th 87 even tho I treat it and only fill boat with what I will use so the gas doesn't sit more then a week. After switching to 91 the motor has never run better...
  8. Are you able to exchange the 1000 size for a 2000 or 2500? That would be a good all around size reel paired with a 7' med fast action rod. This set up is good for many techniques such as shallow tubes, senkos, small swimbaits, small cranks, jerkbait, top water and many more. Spooled with braid main you can add flouro or mono leader as needed. *** makes some decent rods for the $100 mark.
  9. I'm heading up tomorrow for a few days. How will the fishing more smallies be?
  10. I'm heading down to the Bay next weekend. You think the smalies will be on by then? How deep were you fishing? THX Joe
  11. Hello, I was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions that I have. I will be visiting Erie PA at the end of the month for some early season Presque Isle Bay bass fishing. Will this be a good time? Also, other then a local fishing licence, will I need anything else to be legally fishing on the bay? Do I need a special licence to be boating in the bay? THX Joe
