  1. So, went out with the Finesse worm not the Trick worm and pitched drop shot with them. All I can say is it sits just as pretty as a roboworm and is more durable. Does it catch fish? Yes and unfortunately turtles too. Caught half a dozen bass and a huge snapping turtle.
  2. So is the consensus that drop shotting these will be fine or should I return them and stick to the Robos
  3. Does the zoom finesse worm float? It has a flat bottom so I assume these are poured and then would float. I am looking to use them instead of roboworms in my dropshot. 20 for $4 is better than 10 for $4... Thoughts?
  4. By far and away the Curado... you won't be disappointed best reel for the money in my opinion. In fact you may like it better then the Premier.
  5. Perfect... I will give that a try today and report back this evening.
  6. So I typically drop shot a 4" roboworm in aaron's magic and fish just kill it... it may slowly be my go to over a senko. Question: can you drop shot a tube; like a 3" gitzit? Will it have the same action or will it not work well?
  7. What aluminum boats do you recommend; knowing I would like a very stable boat in the water? I don't want to walk around the boat and the things is rocking so much I get sick.
  8. Why do you think I would upgrade from Aluminum to Fiberglass? What reasons do you like fiberglass more than aluminum?
  9. What do you recommend my first boat be made of Aluminum around $9K or Fiberglass around $14K. I understand aluminum boats tend to rock back and forth more when you walk around on them.
  10. I have a Curado and MG; the MG wins hands down, but the Curado can handle it with the right rod as people are saying, but do yourself and favor and buy a Chronarch.
  11. Tubes $5 Weighted Tube Hooks $5 Senko (Green w/ Red Flake) $7 Owner EWG Hooks $5 Zara Spook $7 Strike King Burner Spinner in Sexy Shad $7 Buy all of this and you won't be disappointed. Good luck, I live in the south and this is what works down here
  12. nope, I figured out the brakes just fine, I am recommending to a new baitcaster that they don't fiddle with magnetic brakes for their first baitcaster. My STX spool release broke on day two... yes I had a bad experience with REVO and yes I will stick with Shimano. I mean for $200 I should not have an issue... Do you think differently?
  13. It's an insane value for the money... i have the exact same rod, actually two 6'6" mf and couldn't be more impressed... Strap on a shimano and the bass jump out the lake and throw themselves in the boat.
  14. Can I tell you this combination is incredible... $180 Avid plus a $180 Curado or MG is so money... balanced well, great sensitivity and all for under $400. If you are looking for a new set-up look no further. I use my Avid MG for pitching light-weight lures and my Avid Curado for the heavier stuff... Amazing combo; look no further if you are looking for a new set-up. Hatty
  15. For the person having problems with the Citica I think you should go for 6 brakes on instead of 2 or 4... this will prevent initial backlashes and then with the cast control feel free to loosen it up a bit or else when you reel in the bait the reel will feel very stiff. Also, find a heavier bait, like a spinner bait to practice with before putting on the light stuff. Having lots of brakes on will decrease casting distance, having the cast control loose will keep the reel smooth, stick to a heavy bait until you gain confidence, make sure you are using 10, 12 or 14 lb line, and make sure you rod isn't super stiff like a (heavy or extra heavy) I tell beginners to stick with Medium and a 6'6" to 7' rod. I know people will tell you to put on less brakes but I think the key for you right now is to keep all 6 brakes on... I have used a Citica for a number of days out and I am sure you will get the hang of it. I couldn't recommend the Citica or Curado more, but don't take my word for it... go to www.tackletour.com and check out the review and video. It's their "editors choice." Good luck, Hatty
  16. Stick with Shimano Citica, Curado or MG... all great reels. I would stay away from the Revo, the quality control isn't as good had mine break on day two, BUT because the Revo SX and STX have magnetic brakes you will spend more time adjusting and less time fishing... if you have to have a REVO then go S it has non-magnetic brakes.
  17. Lakes in NC, pretty glassy water, budget is between $3K and $12K... It's my first bass boat so it needs to be great for learning; what I am hearing so far is start with a Tracker 17 or 17.5 that's used and around $3K... learn it, love it then upgrade when I am ready. Thoughts on brands? or anything else?
  18. What would be a good starter bass boat?
  19. I own both of these reels and use them in different ways... I like my MG for casting smaller baits; with the 50 spool size and overall weight is handles lighter lures better than the curado. I cast larger lures with the curado; having the 100 spool size is nice because I am constantly tying on heavy lures (3/8 oz spinners, buzz baits, ratLtraps, etc.) having more line on the spool allows me to really let the line peel off the reel. I like both of these reels but if I could only have one I would choose the MG because the Curado can not handle the lighter lures as well. You can't make a bad choice here, but if you aren't buying both then buy the MG if you feel you have too many MG's give the Curado a shot. Do not buy a STX; I had an STX and it broke on the second day out... plus I don't like the magnetic brakes as I found myself changing them often for each different lure.
  20. Zillion $269.00 or Chronarch 100BPV $186.64 or Core 100MG $349.99 or Revo Skeet Reese $279.99 or Revo Premier $259.99 then as a set up... trying to keep it around $450 or less Chronarch and G. Loomis IMX $441.88 or Zillion and Avid $439.99 or Core and Airrus Max $439.94 Or Skeet Reese and Avid $449.99 Or Skeet Reese and Powell $419.98 or Premeir and Avid $429.99 or Premeir and Powell $399.98 Please try and stick to these combos...
  21. Think 1/8 oz weight with a finesse worm attached... or just a finesse worm... or small crank bait... 1/8 to 1/4 oz weight stuff.
  22. Team, What does everyone recommend for a rod (length, etc.) and baitcasting reel for casting the light stuff... as well as what line size/lb would you spool on the setup. I have always used spinning for this type of fishing, but have wanted to transition to a baitcasting setup just because... Please recommend a value setup and a enthusiast setup. Thanks!
  23. Update... SO, Tackle Warehouse calls this morning and says they were very sorry to hear about the broken rod. They said I could pick any Avid I wanted for no additional cost and they would overnight it to me. Talk about customer service; I was blown away. The person on the phone said they wanted me to be satisfied and keep coming back to them for my fishing needs. Amazing!
  24. I don't mean to cut down too hard on UPS but I mean you should have seen the way they mangled this package and seen the AVID just trashed. Tackle Warehouse was awesome about it though. Back to rods... I named some in the $150 range but I am willing to spend as much as $400 on the rod alone... So feel free to recommend the best of the best. Hatty
  25. So... with the help of the board I ordered a MG51 shimano chronarch and an 7' St. Croix Avid MF... Well the UPS guys decides to play Jim Carey from Ace Ventura and my Avid is in a million pieces. Good news is that Tackle Warehouse is willing to ship me a new one, bad news is that I got the 7' MF for $130 and they are out of stock until JULY!!! I am not waiting until July for a new rod so I got a refund to my credit card. So I am back to the drawing board for my new 51MG. $180 Avid 7' MF (Can't get the $130 deal any more) $150 E21 $170 Shimano Crucial $150 Quantum KVD Tour Thoughts? UPS Sucks... I mean tackle warehouse shipped it in a bullet proof case and I guess they decided to run the brown truck right over the package. "Hey guys, check this out..." THUMP THUMP Hatty
