  1. Man. That's making me wish I wasn't in Indy for the week. Been here one day and I'm already wanting to get back home. Great fish!
  2. Rodents are a staple in my flippin box. Love them. I use both sizes fairly regularly.
  3. Fluoro leader material instead of filler spools. It's a harder line. That's not saying you can't use regular fluoro. Works just fine.
  4. I went north today. Up towards the alley. Try to find cleaner water. I'm by no means a holiday expert. If you stick a good fish, saturate the area with baits. The fish school up in stretches out there. Everything I caught today was on the ole flippin stick. I may go back out tomorrow. Either there or Lox. I'd rather get out on the flats and throw frogs and swimbaits right now instead of canal fishing.
  5. Exactly the same stuff I use. Works great.
  6. Hit up Holiday this morning for a few hours. Still not able to get a 30 pound stringer. I lost a d**n giant today in the pads that probably would have put me over. Water is pretty dirty, but the fish are still there. Off the water at 10:30 with roughly 25-26 pounds.
  7. Holes in boxes can let out just as much moisture as they let in. Go to a pharmacy and see if they'll give you some of the desiccant packages that medications come packaged in. For the most part they just get rid of them. Stick one in a box and you'll probably solve the problem. Change it out once or twice a year. You can also find them in a lot of products you probably have around the house.
  8. Great lookin fish! Congrats!
  9. I won't judge whether the review itself was fair. Certainly it should have been done a while ago. That reel hasn't had any changes to it for quite a while now. I've still got a handful of them left. They get used just as much as my other "name" brand reels. I would argue with the drag comment they had in it though. I've found all of mine to be quite smooth. Especially if you clean the excessive grease out of the reel. I've landed plenty of large hard running fish on the ones I take saltwater fishing. For the price, they're darn good. On sale, they're a fantastic value.
  10. Cover dictates line choice and poundage for me. If I'm around heavy vegetation, which I usually am, I'm mostly throwing braid.
  11. http://tackletour.com/reviewbassproqualifierbaitcaster.html Interesting read.
  12. Didn't need or want any other gifts than hanging out with my daughters. We made fried pickles. It was awesome. Gift cards to a few of my favorite places didn't hurt any either.
  13. X2 Great all around rod also. Not much it can't do.
  14. Oh that is a nice mutton. I haven't been able to hook up with any decent sized ones recently. Wonderful fish to put on the table.
  15. Jeebus. Without an impact of some kind, that has got to be a manufacturing defect. As far as I'm concerned, 2 footers and light wind shouldn't have caused that.
  16. White lithium is the way to go. If there is a build up of corrosion on the pedestal, you can sand it down pretty easily. Don't go over aggressive on the grit though. It'll come off fairly quickly. Might try some steel wool first.
  17. I generally go the full cork route. Just a personal choice. I like the way they balance a bit better.
  18. Water around the park and south was muddy. I went down to marsh access 3 and it didn't improve any. If I were going out today I'd head north all the way to the alley and start looking around there from what Mike said.
  19. Start with the soil. I've learned that's the key. Make sure you clean the garden each time you go to drop seeds. Excessive weed or root growth can choke off the veggies. I also added an automatic water system to mine that goes off twice a day because I'm lazy. No problems with my garden afterwards. Grow everything from veggies to pineapples. It's awesome.
  20. There really isn't much more to be said. Don't screw around with back problems.
  21. Yeah. Sad to see it. One of the best hitters of all time. Heard on the radio he averaged .338 for like 20 years. Just crazy.
  22. Man I know what you mean. I'll preface this with I am a professional carpenter. I work with wood a lot. I spend far more time behind a table saw in a week than most people ever will. I'll even go out on a limb and say I'm pretty darn experienced with the safe use and operation of one. And I never was more scared a few days ago using one. I've got a massive 3 phase Powermatic 66. It's a beast. Cuts like nothing is even being fed through it. We've had a lot of bad storms coming through here lately. Lots of lightning, etc etc. I was ripping a small piece of 1x4 stock down to thickness when we had a power surge. Normally when this happens, it's enough to trip the magnetic switch on the saw and kills the power. Not this time. I was halfway through my cut, saw blade buried in the stock when it happened. Was just enough to let the blade slow. I couldn't react that quickly and was still feeding when it turned back on full speed. Had the wood ripped out of my hand and sent flying. Came about an eighth of an inch away from losing God knows how many fingers. I shut the shop down and locked up for the day. I was shaking afterwards. I may joke around a lot saying things like "safety third," but we do take it very seriously. Body parts don't grow back.
  23. Only played through 4 straight finals, etc etc. Fairly sure the numbers say Lebron, Wade, and Bosh have an extra season of game time over the last four years. Nobody is making an excuse. I think I mentioned that I was perfectly fine with the Spurs winning. They deserved it 100%. What's funny though, if ANY other team had been on that run, them being tired would be a valid excuse. If it's the current Heat lineup, they're not allowed to be tired.
  24. No doubt. They deserved it. Miami was just tired and worn out. Shows you how hard running for a three peat really can be. If the Heat didn't win it, I couldn't pick any other team than the Spurs. I've got nothing but respect for Pops and his team. Classy group of guys right there. Already looking forward to the media frenzy that's going to happen tomorrow. Lol. Will make some interesting filler material between World Cup games and before football season starts.
  25. Since I bought a Dobyns 736 a while ago, I haven't felt the need to have another frog rod. It just flat out does it all. Some people think that the 735 is a better rod for walking type frogs, personally I like the 736 more. IMO it's got a great tip for walking, you just have to learn how to use it since it's not as soft. You can call Dobyns directly and ask them what they think about it. Good bunch of people there that will happily help you out.
