  1. Good luck, Mike. Go get em. Okeechobee is just fun right now. Went out and messed around with Robert for a good chunk of the day. Didn't land any giants. Boated a four, a few threes, and a bunch of ones and twos. Think we boated roughly 50 fish today. Most of the fish on the lake were on the outside edges of Kissimmee grass, the wind made fishing that stuff a bit on the hard side though. Sat in the canal for the last hour and got into a bunch of schoolies and just stroked them. Literally catching fish each cast, sometimes both of us each cast. All small fish, but just stupid, goofy fun. I think every bait we tried landed fish. They're hitting everything including the kitchen sink right now up on the north end. I think that's the first time I can honestly say I've caught fish on every rod I took with me.
  2. I did. Was or is it hard? Of course. Raising children is not an easy thing. Especially by yourself. Sure it's got it's good and bad moments, but on the whole, nothing is more worthwhile. Just don't expect to have extra cash lying around without having a good job. Kids are expensive...
  3. Heck. I'm 30. Twin nine year old girls that live with me. Their mother is basically not a part of their life. I've had a few relationships that have lasted a while, and a bunch of short term ones. I couldn't be happier. . I'm sure one day I'll settle down, but who the heck knows when. I'm a drama free type of dude. Marriage always seems to have unnecessary drama happening far too often for my tastes.
  4. You know it's bad when I thought the exact same thing after reading his post....
  5. Hard to argue with that. He put on an unreal show tonight. You can't help but admire what he did this evening.
  6. I'm set up just about the same. Rods are a Dobyns 736 or an 804 depending on how thick of a mat. Using a Citica instead of the Accurist. Lately I've become addicted to using the SK Baby Rodents instead of a cricket. I freakin love those things. I've also been playing with 832 for a while now instead of PP. Hooks are Owners. Either straight shank or EWG depending on the bait, though a straight shank gets the nod more often than not.
  7. Ask anybody I've been on a boat with that lives down here. Once the big motor is fired up, my face gets covered. One trip I took to Istokpoga with Piscicidal from the forums made me realize how much it's worth it. The sun started to drop and the bugs came out in swarms! Once I picked a few mosquitoes out of my teeth, the Buff was on in full face cover mode.
  8. Exactly. My primary reason I do it is number three. The pits I normally fish in are limestone strip pits. That stuff will straight out destroy braid. Another reason to use a leader: shock. If you've got a big strong hookset, having just a little give in the line isn't a bad thing.
  9. I'm sure you'll be pleased with it. Hit google up and you'll eventually find a video on the tons of different ways you can wear it. I believe Buff used to have it on their website.
  10. Shimano Grease Cal's light drag grease Shimano Oil The first two I've found work about the same. No noticeable difference to me. Both are great products. The Bantam oil has worked flawlessly for me for years. If I ever run out, I'll be buying more of it. I've tried Abu and Daiwa oil and found the Shimano stuff to work a little better IMO. Mind you, I've also got a stockpile of Shimano oil lying around that came with my reels....
  11. I treat my Buff like an Amex card. Don't leave home without it...at least on fishing days. Best 20 something bucks I ever spent on fishing related clothing.
  12. Gotta agree with RW 100% on this one. I only wish I had spent my money originally on mor LC stuff. Fantastic lures. Though there is a new company that ive been doing some testing for that is coming to the US market that I've found to be better quality at a better price.... Come ICAST, you'll probably hear the name a bunch.
  13. Scissors. You need to apply a little tension to the line to get a nice clean cut. I've used the so called braid scissors. Waste of cash. Just grab an extra pair or two of Fiskars child scissors next time you're at the store. Cheap, and very effective. The best ones I've ever had are these stainless scissors my father was able to get through AT&T. Wish I could buy more of them in a store. Do everything from stripping and cutting wire to cutting any fishing line imaginable. Fantastic tool.
  14. Albright Modified Albright (Alberto) Forget the rest of them unless you're going to be using an inline splice with hollow braid. Surgeons knots sit on top of the two lines instead of running with the lines like the above knots. If you like having knots hang, have at the Surgeons. If you want to use a quality knot, learn how to tie the Albright(s). Superior to the uni-uni splice IMO because of the way it wraps up into a smaller package.
  15. I think you may be the only person on the planet that hates the Heat and despises Wade instead of James (though I get the feeling you're no fan of his either).
  16. I heard the same thing from my girlfriend..... She was very serious, and is very blonde.....
  17. That's cute. The Mavs sure made one hell of a run this year didn't they....Oh, wait... I'm not going to go into smack talking. It's pointless. To say Wade is a joke is just plain silly though. Time for me to raise a glass, hop in the ride to the arena and enjoy the conference finals.
  18. Agreed 100%. Even with it's faults, it's still a great rod. Fantastic value, especially when you get them on sale.
  19. If you can get beyond the Powerhump grip on the BPS crankin stick, it is a fantastic value. I still have one here that gets fished just as much as my more expensive rods. Great rod. Best for the money is highly debatable. Personally, I've fallen in love with the Dobyns glass rods. Enough that I'm probably going to order another one or two before too much longer.
  20. You're over thinking this one. You should be able to throw a weightless senko on basically any decent casting rod with some practice. Either one of the two you mentioned will cast it without a problem. I've thrown them on ultra lights, all the way up to my heavy flipping sticks. Base the rod off of the area you're going to be fishing in.
  21. GoPro Hero Kodak Playsport The GoPro is the better camera. No question. But you will be paying for that. The Playsport is very budget friendly. Takes a pretty good HD video. Is user friendly. It's also cheap. It's not the best in very low light though. As far as advice. Don't skimp on a good tripod. Your videos will be useless without a stable mount of some kind. I'm not a big fan of the Hatcams personally. If you do go that route, the Playsport will work just fine. The mounting threads on the bottom are standard tripod threads. 1/4 - 20 (Quarter inch diameter, 20 threads per inch) I believe.
  22. If you've got the cash to spend, the DX 745 is an unreal pitching rod. If not, either of the two you listed will work fine. I kind of prefer the 7'3" rods from Dobyns though. If you're going to be pitching into heavier areas, you may want to check out the 736 also. Spend some time browsing through the TackleTour forums. Specifically look at the posts made by Civicrr. Dude has fished pretty much all of the Dobyns sticks and has provided some excellent feedback and comparisons on most of the rods.
  23. That OKC and Spurs series should go 7. That's going to be incredibly fun to watch. Can the Heat beat either of those two without Bosh? Sure. Will be it be very difficult? God yes. If I was a betting man, I'd pick one of the two teams out of the West to win it all as everything sits right now. If Bosh comes back healthy, and the Heat backups play like they did the last two games, it's a different story. That being said, I'll be sitting courtside again tonight proudly wearing my white clothing. LEHGO HEAT, What a rivalry this has turned into. Love the playoffs!
  24. She looks great! I've been eyeballing a Big O lately. As I'm narrowing down my choices, thats one boat that's very close to the top.
  25. Jigs and bigger worms? DX 744 and 745 depending on the cover you're in and the lure weights you'll be throwing.
