  1. I picked one up earlier today. Nice light rod. Ultra sensitive. I just need to get used to the extra fast tip on it for hooksets. I couldn't complain about it one bit really. My only gripe is that the hook keeper is mounted on the underside of the rod. I like mine on the side or on the face of it.
  2. Without reading the whole thread I'll say this: I hate the idea of the game being rigged. Sick to the stomach hate. I won't say you're right or wrong because there is some very coincidental stuff that happens. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if plays or games are rigged. I try really hard to ignore all of the political aspects to sports in general and try hard to just enjoy the game for what it is.
  3. Sounds like a plan. Just let me know and hopefully our schedules will work out one day. I'm always up for some fishin an bs'n. I'll bring the cuban coffee.
  4. Man, I've really gotta spring for one of those one of these days. Grouper fishing would be freakin ridiculous with images like that. Thats darn near cheating.
  5. x2 Make sure you read this http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1158577137
  6. Thanks for the link. Like airborne_angler said, thats a deal you couldn't pass up on. I grabbed one of each of the 70 ct bags along with a 50 bag of 9" pumpkinseed lizards.
  7. So I picked up a new rod today for worming... I just need to get used to the XF tip on it. I missed three fairly decent fish today setting the hook too quickly.
  8. Thankfully I'm single, no wifey to bug me about fishing. My daughters on the other hand have started to like fishing and are stealing a bunch of my plastics to stick in their boxes...
  9. Thats just what I was hoping to hear. I had a feeling it was just me jumping the gun a bit on the fish. And yeah, I know what you mean buy setting on pretty much everything. I was reeling down the slack to check.
  10. So I picked up a BPS Carbonlite earlier today. 6'9" MH extra fast. I'm just curious if the extra fast tip is a little to quick for a worm rod. I missed three solid fish today. Now that could have been coincidence, me not being used to the rod, or any other number of things. I'm just curious if I should exchange it for something with a softer tip to it. Love the rod otherwise, super sensitive and beyond light. Edited to add: As a side note, I do fish a lot of hydrilla and other vegetation on my lake here so I figured having that quicker tip would help a bit for hooking and pulling fish out of the slop.
  11. You'll probably be a lot happier with that going off of what you had planned for that Jon.
  12. At that price, who can blame her. Hell, send me a couple
  13. I may have to pick up some of those hooks. I fish a lot of large worms (10"-12"). I'll use a twist lock 5/0, or a ewg 5/0 gammy threaded way down through the worm body.
  14. What the heck, that aint no fanny pack. Thats more like a man purse. I've never seen one that big before...
  15. As much as I like my bag, sometimes picking it up and hoisting it over my shoulders can be a chore. But it's nothing that really bothers me (ex-army I'm used to humping a ton of junk). I'm looking into picking up one of the tackle backpacks that I've seen online. I need to take a look at one in person to see if I really want to drop the coinage on one.
  16. I'll bring 4, sometimes 5 with me in the car. I don't carry all of them around. Usually only two depending on the area I'm in or the baits I'm fishing. Occasionally three, but thats fairly rare.
  17. I recently look at those with the exact same thought in mind. But those are some pretty narrow boats at the bottom. I would be really leery of how stable that would be standing on a deck.
  18. You and I need to hook up one day, Sqhertz. We gotta go pound the banks somewhere. One area I keep meaning to hit is the large Canal on Griffin Road. I drive past it and see what could be some prime spots, but I never manage to go there with a rod in hand.
  19. Out of curiosity, how is that really different from the average person trying to balance a job, feeding and clothing their children, keeping a roof over their heads along with trying to enjoy the sport they love. I'm not trying to make it seem that college and being a collegiate athlete is easy. I've been there. You say "some people" don't get it. Well on the reverse side "some college kids" don't get it either. It's no easier in the real world. If something is that much of a pain to balance out, you need to rethink your reasons for doing it.
  20. The dual braking on this reel makes it a good choice for the experienced angler or newbie IMHO. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the reels mentioned. Too many guys try to learn on the cheapest reel they can find, and that makes learning a lot more challenging. Good luck. I just bought my second PQ, and will probably buying at least one or two more during the BPS Spring Sale. Can't go wrong with the reel. I've had zero issues with mine. Casts light baits with relative ease. Like K_Mac said, the dual braking is great. Makes it very forgiving and easy to cast.
  21. Thanks guys. I had a feeling that was a silly question. I've got 5 batteries on my large boat, but I was just dumbfounded about using the TM and a sounder on a single battery. I was mostly concerned about interference, but that doesn't seem to be much of an issue from what I've read. The boat is mostly for playing around in the backyard, so I've got a newish toy to play with for now.
  22. No clue, but I'll be more than happy to go out an break it in with you and watch you burn off some gas
  23. All I can tell you is to......MOVE. 25 is way too freakin cold. Forget that noise.
  24. So I'll probably be picking up some sort of depth finder for my little Zodiac (or Jon boat whenever I purchase it). Primarily I run on just a trolling motor hooked into a 12v deep cycle due to electric only restrictions. I've seen the clamp on fish finders that transom mount and run on a few AAA batteries. My question really would be, if I was to pick up a standard depth sounder would I need a second 12v battery to run it or would just a single work. The clamp on style really limits the options to what electronics you can buy.
  25. Yeah it is the Flambeau. I had a Plano bag before that one. This one just seems to be built a lot better. Much better zippers and a thicker material that the bag is made out of. Plus it holds more stuff than I can ever usually use on a single outing from a boat or on the banks. The only thing I haven't found a spot for are those Mann's 12" Jelly Worms that I picked up earlier today...
