  1. I use it. 20lb braid. Love the sensitivity. Stick a fluoro leader on the end of it and I'm set. All of my rods are braid with a fluoro leader now except my cranking rod. It can get a bit blown around by the wind, but I've never really had an issue dealing with it.
  2. I hear you. It's been ridiculously hot lately. Great fish in the picture there. I need to pick up one of those ThermaCell's. My uncle had one out yesterday on his patio when we were doing some work, didn't have a bug near us. I'm heading out offshore tomorrow to drag some baits through the Gulfstream. Hopefully it doesn't get insanely hot like it has been recently. I'm not brave enough to troll around out there at night....
  3. I picked up seven new rods and reels this year. So I probably won't buy another new one for a while unless theres a deal I can't pass up either on the flea market, or in a store.
  4. I don't mind the design of the hook keeper at all. My problem with them is that they could have at least been made out of stainless steel. The darn things rust like theres no tomorrow.
  5. Wow. Didn't see that one coming. Werdum got a fantastic triangle in deep. Didn't even land a strike and got the submission. Cung Le looked pretty good tonight also. Absolutely nailed ole Hands of Steel with that kick to the gut.
  6. Love both of mine. 6'9" MH XFast. 30lb braid with a fluoro leader. The other is the 6'9" ML spinning. 20lb braid and a fluoro leader as well. Couldn't ask for more from them. Ultra sensitive rod. The only complaint that I have is the crap hook keepers they come with. I'd cut it off if I wasn't afraid it'd void the warranty. Fantastic rod, epsecially for the price.
  7. I can't stand the darn things in my lake. They're everywhere. Really irritates me at times, I'll see a shape or two sitting on the bottom and hurl lures at it only to realize that I'm trying to catch a literal bottom feeder.
  8. Ponder better than Jacory? Umm...naaaa. I'd rather have Jacory. This year it's win the ACC or it's a failure. They've been very steadily improving. BACK TO THE ORANGE BOWL!!! C...A...N...E...S CANES!!!! The Gators? Hell with them and their legions of bandwagon fans. Tebow's gone, back to being irrelevant for the Gators.
  9. For the most part they seem to be the same reel. The handle on the Carbonlite is carbon fiber. The main gear of the Carbonlite is made of a different material as well. Other than that, same reel. The cast control knob clicks on the Carbonlite, but that really doesn't matter. If you need pictures, let me know. I've got a few PQ's and a Carbonlite sitting in the garage.
  10. x2 I may have to sneak up there and toss a UM sticker on your car windshield or something.
  11. My family has a stadium box for the local stadium, I 'm not much of a soccer fan but I ocassionaly go to see the local team ( Leon ) play, man if you find that sound annoying while watching an aired game you should experience it in the flesh ..... and to make it even worse, my home is located not far from the stadium and one of the streets from where the traffic from the stadium flows after the game passes right next to my house, so not only I "enjoy" vuvuzela sound at the stadium when I go but also when I don 't go > , vuvuzela, horns, screams, flags, win or loose the local club it don 't matter. I went down to Azteca for the last Mexico/US match. The vuvuzelas aint got nothing on crazy drunken Mexican fans. Those dudes are flippin ridiculous.
  12. Theres almost nothing better than a baitrunner when free lining for kings. I've got a couple that I use only for that purpose when we hit up the reefs with a good chumslick. Like snook said, you can use a light drag just as well. Pay attention though, if you're using a smaller reel, you can find yourself re-spooling. As far as the rod holder, a good tie down is always smart when dealing with fish like kings. And if you need to clamp it down, make sure you measure the railing first. I've never been one to trust those things though, I'd rather be able to blame myself if I lose a rod.

  14. One of the best matches I've seen in a long time, period. World Cup, League, pick up games, etc etc. Spectacular action throughout. The Algerian keeper played simply amazing. If it weren't for him, the US would have put at least another two or three in the net. Scoring in the 91st minute was just....FREAKIN EPIC!!!1111 You just gotta love the drama of the World Cup. It don't get much better.
  15. Big Tom wins. Try the search button. It's that funny one up there, with the word "Search" in it.....
  16. Plantar fasciitis I picked it up a couple of years ago playing soccer. Had to wear this strange immobilizing boot at night for a long time before it got any better. Combine that with a cortisone shot and I was good to go after a while. Still acts up once in a while. Painful stuff.
  17. x2 I've got four of them. Great reels, especially for the price paid.
  18. It's quickly becoming a popular thing. I can't remember the last time this year that I've gone offshore to do some trolling for Billfish and Dolphin that I haven't seen some kayaks milling around a larger boat. He's lucky he didn't hook up with a large Marlin. Four and a half, five hours, on a small Marlin is just plain silly. I understand he was using 20lb test, but you're seriously doing damage to the fish at that point. You can see how brown he is at the end of the video. Hopefully they took a good while to revive it behind the large boat.

  20. Way to go Steve, great fish as usual.
  21. Great pair of fish right there, gar-tracker.
  22. Blegh...
  23. I've got to add something to my list: Pistachio Nuts. I've become re-addicted to these things again. I gotta stay away from the red ones, stain your fingers. But man do they ever taste good....
  24. Not the best R8 I've seen, certainly ranks high up there though. There are a few ridiculously nice ones prowling around my area. I personally would have painted that goofy panel on the side the same matte finish as the rest of the car. Gotta love the good job with the VHT Nightshade on the tail lights.
  25. With the crazy temps we've got down here in South Florida during the summers, even more so right now, I wouldn't be comfortable leaving my gear inside of a car for the day. It's got to get to 150+ degrees in a car down here on a hot day. Can't be good for any types of adhesives on a rod. That certainly can't be good for grease inside of a reel either. I'm not sure what quantifies "high heat" in lubes, but it's gotta thin it down some in a reel at some point.
