  1. Head out for the first time in a few months to actually catch some fish and landed this spawned out little lady. So glad to have some time off from work.
  2. Very good, and affordable fluoro. It's certainly not on par with products like Tatsu, but it's a darn good line. At 10 bucks a spool you really can't go wrong. It's about all I use for most of my fishing on the rock pit lakes around me. If the grass starts getting thick, then I'll go to braid.
  3. I primarily use ON and MTS whey. If you haven't tried MTS, it's worth it to pick up a tub on their website. Stuff is the real deal, and tastes phenomenal.
  4. At first it stunk. But really, I think it was a good break to focus on work. Spent the last couple of evenings gutting my tackle storage area and cleaning it all up. Looked like a bomb went off on my workbench.
  5. Albright or modified Albright (Alberto). Hands down the two best. I've used them from fly fishing all the way up to giant off shore big game. The trick with the Alberto is to be patient and make sure it all seats properly.
  6. I'm back! Been quite a while since I've been around here, much less being around anything fishing related. Finished up a massive project a few days ago, and finally got my fishing mojo going again. Spent a couple of hours on the boat yesterday after replacing the batteries and remembered how much I really enjoyed just being on the water. See you guys on the forums!
  7. It happens. Just one of those things. You can do everything right and still lose them. I can't even begin to count how many big fish I've lost. Makes for a good fish story though.
  8. I look at it this way, we do this project each year. It's nothing out of the ordinary. I can make a very significant portion of my yearly income in three months doing it. Besides, I fit family into it. My parents and daughters hung out at a hotel on the beach. Kids got to play around and build sand castles on the Today show. Hung out with Ron McGill and the animals he brought. They understand that I'm at work and know its a short term thing that I'm away. Plus they usually get to do some cool stuff during it.
  9. Got out for a couple of hours on a pair of short trips. Saw a couple peacocks doing their mating rituals and whatnot. Wasn't really trying to catch any though. Was more interested in finding largemouth. Found a good school and had a little fun. I did find a monster female on a bed deep in some grass that I plan on visiting soon. Little too windy to check it out today.
  10. Congrats! Gorgeous lil rug rat you got there. The long sleepless nights are so worth it. There is nothing more rewarding than having a kid of your own.
  11. I love it. Had it for a couple of years now. Use it in both fresh and saltwater. Normally use it through the iPad for the bigger screen when I'm in saltwater. Keep the phone handy for a backup. Pretty darn accurate. Worthwhile purchase.
  12. Jerkbaits/Slashbaits fished hard and aggressive. Seems that the recent weather we've had has triggered a spawn in some of the southern Broward lakes. Saw some on beds today as well as some mated pairs cruising and courting. Looks like I might have lucked out this year and picked up some time off from work at the right time.
  13. Finally able to sit down and really relax a bit and log back into the forums. First real time off since Christmas. As much as I love what I do, sometimes you just wear down a bit. Missed checking in once in a while. Looking forward to catching up with you all.
  14. Running like new now. Took some work, but that old monster is turning over like a champ now. Amberjack. Fun, hard fighting fish. Usually found around offshore reefs.
  15. So, I cruise out on the boat today. Head out to the Gulfstream to hopefully find some Dolphin to bring home to put on the table, or a marlin that felt like dancing a bit. Didn't find a single sign of life. No birds, no bait, no nothing. I haven't seen it that lifeless in a long time. Oh well. Still had a little bit of time left, and a block of chum in the box. Head on over to one of the deeper reefs that happen to have produced some fish in the past that was on the way back in. Chumslick goes out, and we instantly have fish swimming around the transom. Nothing worthwhile, but fun on light tackle. Smaller yellowtails, jacks, houndfish, etc etc. I notice that there are some larger fish streaking around in the tail end of the chumslick, so I stupidly grab bass rod that I know I can launch a bait about a quarter mile with. Get a couple of brutal hits, losing a handful of baits in the process before I hooked into this wee little beauty. Pretty d**n fun to catch on a MH flippin stick and an old Shimano Cardiff. Just a hair on the large size to even think about bringing home. Oh well, still a great fight. Stripped out drag like a freight train.
  16. Swimbaits of all shapes, sizes, and styles. More specifically, soft plastic swimbaits more so than hard baits. I just feel that I can use them more efficiently. I'll always be a worm dragger at heart though.
  17. I'll check my schedule. I should be free towards the later part of the week.
  18. DX 795 Doug. Or just go custom. Knowing the gear you already have though, custom would probably be the better fit for you.
  19. Largemouth..... I'd much rather catch a DD Peacock though.
  20. X2 My phone was ringing off the hook last night. Though I'll admit this; I had fun messing with some of the people that called. Hehehehe
  21. Dobyns 804C Dobyns 736C 50 pound braid on both of them. I prefer using the 804 because of its length. The 736 gets the nod if I'm getting into nastier cover or have a swimbait on the other rod.
  22. Pretty sure you can get the 745 in a split grip, Mike. I personally feel they balance a bit better with the full grip though.
  23. Hard to not mention the original Sweet Beaver. Just a great bait. Over the last year though, I've been using the SK Rodent more and more. I can't even begin to count how many fish the baby Rodent has put in the boat for me. Flipped or as a jig trailer. Great little piece of plastic. It's just a little longer than the Smallie Beaver. Able to fit a hook into the meat of the bait a bit better.
  24. I swear. Wayne, you've got some fantastic screenshots saved.
  25. Looks phenomenal, Robert. I'd be willing to bet that it just looks sick in the sunlight.
