  1. @Swamp Girl Ya ever seen the movie "The Perfect Storm"? 135 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico during a storm that made a 70' boat look tiny. Still will not watch that movie today!
  2. In my teenage years I worked as a deck hand & First Mate on charter fishing boats in the Gulf of Mexico. Even on bright sunny days this was how we maneuvered from location to location. Fog! Night fishing on Toledo Bend near Turtle Beach on the Louisiana side, a dense fog rolled in about midnight, somewhere around 3 we decided to head back to our camp on the Texas side. There was a huge sign on a tree in the mouth of Negreet Creek that advertised Turtle Beach Lodge. I idled over to the sign, pointed the bow towards what I believed was due west & the Texas side. 30 minutes later & directly in front of us was the Turtle Beach sign! Again I pointed the bow westward & again 30 minutes later the was the Turtle Beach sign. Sleep in the boat until daylight tied to the Turtle Beach sign!
  3. @N Florida Mike Speed Worm - Mr Twister Buzz Worm Fluke - Mpack Shad Baby Brush Hog - 6th Sense Hogwalla Different profiles 😉
  4. I totally agree with the "new lake effect" but what needs to be understood is that this happens numerous times throughout the life of the body of water. Example 2007 Toledo Bend's lake level was lowered 15' to allow work on the dam. All of the exposed lake bottom had a resurgence of vegetation. When the lake level came back up it brought with it the new lake effect.
  5. When was Toledo Bend impounded? October 3, 1966 Toledo Bend lake record is 15.67 lbs, set by Bill Cook of Houston, Texas on February 11, 2023 Texas ShareLunker's genetic research has proven that regardless of food source if the proper genes are not present in the bass, it will never obtain record status.
  6. Tornadoes occur during sever weather, they knew that but went out anyway. Can't fix stupid 😉
  7. @N Florida Mike An explanation of just how much "weedy" ya talking might be helpful.
  8. That perfectly fits the Lite Medium Heavy, I would add it handles weightless plastics like a Wacky Rigged Trick Worm. The 7' 3" Medium Heavy if better suited for 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 oz with biggest plastics. It's also a great jig rod It comes down to personal preference
  9. I have 2 ea TP1B70MH Worm Rods & 1 ea TP1B74H Pitching Rod The 7' MH are excellent worm/jig rods for weights 1/8-1/2 oz. The 7'4" H is excellent frog rod, flipping-n-pitching rod, & Medium punch rod up to 1 oz. Pretty agree with @Brian11719 accessment
  10. Reservations for 5 days on the Big Pond, dates to be determined.
  11. Buzz Worms comes in 8" & 12", I've had better luck with the 8" in green pumpkin blue tail. I would also suggest Yamamoto's 10” Ichi Worm, it's made from Yamamoto’s Mega Floater Formula, which makes the tail stand up off the bottom. It's heavy enough to good distance unweighted.

  16. IDK 😉 2007 was my best year ever on Toledo Bend, the lake level was 15' low. I generally target 15' +/- 3', which means where I normally fish I was walking around kicking dust. I ended the year with 11 double digits including a 12 lb 8 oz PB. 2008 the lake level came back up to normal, the fish scattered & the big bite fell off

  18. @Glenn I have a little experience with cell phone coverage around Toledo Bend. Quite often I have to ride around in the truck to get a signal or walk around outside the camp. But most of the designated weigh sites have wifi for cell phones & a land line to reach ShareLunker.
  19. Medium Heavy that leans towards Heavy, X-Fast because I want to get into the backbone asap. I want to turn that head & get her coming up all in one motion.

  21. I don't give my rods names, that way if I throw a worm on a spinnerbait rod it doesn't get confused. My favorite "worm" rod was a Shimano Crucial 6' 10" Medium Heavy X-Fast, it was rated by Shimano as a spinnerbait specific rod. Sorry but not even Gary Loomis can tell me what I like in a rod.
