  1. There's something about that little tail that just produces bites.
  2. One reason some larger bass move maybe due to their food source or the lack there of. Radio telemetry studies on Toledo Bend showed a 8#+ that lived exclusively on a huge flat 100+ yds from any structure. She had an ample food supply & didn't need to move. Wanna catch larger than average bass? Location Time on the water, not just pre-spawn/spawn but year round. Patience, be prepared to be out in less than ideal conditions...for us.
  3. Possible 😉 Thinking of something 17' with a 75 hp
  4. If I were to evacuate it would be north! My grass will need a brush hog!
  5. What Biologist gathered from the research is that we're spooking a percentage of bass regardless what we do. That doesn't mean we throw caution to wind, it means we accept a percentage will spook @A-Jay mentioned deleting his waypoints because: I generally mark structure with at least 3 waypoints. Wind & current determines from what direction I position my boat.
  6. Some of y'all would be very surprised what radio telemetry & FFS revealed. When a waypoint was approached with the outboard then "ran" over with the electronics. A percentage of the bass spooked but a large percentage did not. A percentage of the bass after being stealthy approached spooked from the first cast. A percentage of the bass did not spook even after sitting on top of them dropshoting in shallow water.
  7. 6' 10" Medium Heavy X-Fast for everything except punching.
  8. Y'all laugh but there has been Pros incognito here for years. Some were active members.
  9. @Happybeerbuzz You are correct! During that time frame all of Housen' Bayou & 6-Mile Bayou are the #1 areas to be.
  10. No they didn't! If I remember correctly MLF was won on the Louisiana side, Elite was won on the Texas side.
  11. On Fork I need waypoints
  12. @Tennessee Boy I can't verify it as fact but I heard some were reading an article, "So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?" on bassresource.
  13. @Pat Brown It takes a rare breed of fisherman using simple techniques to perfection to consistently catch bass.
  14. Ya ain't sticking with the weed guard!
  15. IDK 😉 Research shows some bass are affected by the outboard, some are affected by the trolling motor, & some are affected by the first cast. Depth of the water had little to do with it. Watch this series of videos https://youtu.be/PYYmscMNg0E?si=EjyJtNuGkUZTeELv
  16. Patience 😉 Some of us have fished a lifetime without a double digit.
  17. Ditch the heavy cover jig for a Hack Attack Flourcarbon Jig. Designed around a smaller diameter hook than the original Hack Attack Jig, the hook’s smaller diameter allows the hook to penetrate faster with less effort, so you still get solid hooksets despite the added stretch of fluorocarbon. I throw em on straight Big Game.
  18. Round here we call them "schoolie" bass, they're generally smaller bass. Chasing them is futile, they're busy eating shad & ignore most lures. Try a clear Tiny Torpedo, clear Pop-R, or clear Tiny Spook. Or your favorite in those categories but clear.
  19. Wasn't me, I don't even like worms
  20. This is why I don't put a pen to it. I keep about $1,000+/- in a Local Credit Union. I occasionally help a friend install granite & cultured marble. My biggest expense is Toledo Bend, I hate going for a day, its gotta be 3-4.
  21. Some old dude 😉
  22. I compared the HM40, HM85, & the TP1 Black. Ended up buying 3 TP1 Black only because my local tackle shop had them in stock.
