  1. Work great for vegetation, timber, or brush
  2. The Rinky Dink is a 1 Ā½" x Ā¾ oz chunk of solid lead that vaguely resembles a small fish, a small spinner is attached to the tail end. Thrown in is a small treble hook that not even attached to the lure; the line is threaded through a hole in the body and tied directly to a split ring/hook, meaning the weighted body can move up and down on the line. The lure was developed in the early 1990s by local angler Hugh Rinkle molded off another local bait called a Wing Ding that had been discontinued. Once the bait was put on the market, anglers began learning just how effective it could be but the only problem now with the lure is it's not longer in production. However, there's still an option: the Norman Knock Off; as the name implies, it's a copy of the Rinky Dink. Rinky Dinks are late fall and winter structure bait fished deep on the main lake or shallow in the creek channels. While many anglers equate cold temperatures with slow moving small lures this can be a big mistake. Rinky Dinks are most productive when casted and fished with a yo-yoing retrieve, the bite all most always comes on the fall and will be extremely subtle. When you feel something that's just not right, set the hook! To effectively fish the Rinky Dink or Knock Off, I usually use 12# fluorocarbon matched with a medium to medium-light rod; even at Ā¾ oz the Rinky Dink (5/8 oz Knock Off) is definitely not a power bait. Lighter line makes a difference in the number of bites and the lighter rod will give you a better hook sets without ripping the lure out of the bass's mouth. 3. What I look for in a jig is a smooth transition from the line to the eye & around the belly, which requires the eye to be slightly rolled forward. Examples: Terry Oldham's Eye Max Strike King's Hack Attack & Flourcarbon Seibert's Supreme Grass Jig Most anglers try forcing a jig through grass which is all wrong, you gotta finesse the jig through grass! When you feel the jig starting to load up in the grass...stop. Release pressure, pull up until you feel heaviness again but apply slightly more pressure, then release, continue until the jig breaks free. You want the motion to be similar to & as fast as working a shaky head, you're just applying more pressure. The denser the grass the more vertical you want your presentation.

    I'll be back

Oh happy day! Only about 80% & improving šŸ˜‰ Stomach bug pretty much gone. I damaged both knees but the right knee more. That's the one I tore the ACL, had surgery on, & did damaged the ham string. Thanks for all the prayers y'all
  6. Being sick is often described as being under the weather. Well I've been under a category 5 hurricane since Veterans Day. That night I jacked up my back & both knees...again. Then Saturday before last my wife & I contracted a stomach virus that's spreading here locally. Spent most of the week taking meds & sleeping. But I will be back...soon! Later Y'all šŸ˜‰
  7. Still cover the same amount of water. There are just as many times a slow retrieve will out produce a fast retrieve or vice a versa.
  8. @JHoss Covering water doesn't mean fishing fast. I cover as much water as you i just do it more effectively. I throw Megastrike Cavitron Buzzbaits which are designed to be fished SLOW.
  9. Why certainly šŸ˜‰ Most anglers fish buzzbaits to fast.
  10. Calcasieu (Big) Lake 15 minutes from my house. One of top destinations on the Gulf Coast for Specks-n-Reds. Black Drum
  11. Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap Mini HammerTrap 3/16 Hammer Trap Knock-N-Trap
  12. Looking at the head design I would say Yumbrella Ultralite Rig.
  13. My birthday is Dec 20th, I combine birthday presents with Christmas presents. My wife & kids know there's two things I want. All the kids & grandkids home safe and week on Toledo Bend.
  14. I've always advocated buying a quality reel first, that way I don't have to budget for reels again for years.
  15. Once I learned how good bass fishing is during late fall & winter I quit hunting.
  16. EWG šŸ˜‰ I ain't necessarily "swimming" it; twitch it, jerk it, pause it, everything you would do with a Fluke.
  17. @J Francho & @Pat Brown I can run your sound system for ya!
  18. Y'all need to try a paddletail weightless & fish em like a Fluke. Y'all be amazed at the action. @BrianMDTX I switched to a taller pedestal but instead of a butt seat I use my regular seat. This is a lot more stable & I can sit of need be. Instead of casting, I roll cast a lot.
  19. If Fake Jake was any good let's see him get in the ring with Jon Jones.
  20. techniques that you have moved away from None! Some never were in my rotation, some never will be. šŸ‘
