I'll be coming from south Raleigh, so probably the closest one to me, but my buddy that's going with me knows exactly where you're talking about. I was planning on going Sunday after church but it's supposed to be blue bird skies that, so I may skip Jordan Friday and go to Falls.
You can catch some nice piggies out on Harris just watch your depth finder because parts of it get really shallow and in a hurry. Went out there today for a couple hours and got skunked. You could literally feel the air temp drop 10 degrees when the clouds rolled in. Some nasty winds and a couple lightning bolts ended that trip quick.
Cool, I plan on going to Falls after sunrise service next Sunday. Any idea what they're hitting?
PS Thanks to everyone on the forum for making the noobs feel welcome.
Hey guys. I grew up in South Alabama and I've been in NC for quite a while now. I mostly fished ponds and the Tombigbee river but I recently inherited a bass boat and I've been having a blast fishing in central NC.
I'm amazed by the number of quality lakes within driving distance. I've fished Jordan for a few years with a buddy of mine but I plan on hitting all the major lakes around this fishing season. I've been to High Rock and I'm going to Badin Sunday. If anybody has any suggestions in helping me map out my trips they would be greatly appreciated. I've heard good things about Harris, Kerr, and Falls. Anybody know which lakes around are better in Spring/Summer/Fall?
Thanks guys and I hope to see you out on the water.
My stepfather has his 12 acre pond surveyed every year or so (for free) by Auburn University's Wildlife Dept. They come in and seine it, and take water samples. They advised him to harvest 20 lbs per acre per year of bass and 80 lbs per year per acre of panfish. This pond is is in South Alabama so it stays warm pretty much year round. I'm sure your situation would be much different because of water type and location. You should try contacting one of your local universities and see if they have a similar program.
