  1. Need some ideas/plans for a fishing pole rack to hang in the garage. Fairly skilled at building and have plenty of wood. Any help with plans for a decent horizontal hanging system would be appreciated. Wife wants my fishing equipment out of the sun room (I don't understand why I just do it to keep the peace). Thanks John P.S. I was not sure which forum this should be posted in, apologies tot he moderators if it is misplaced.
  2. Yes indeed, great fish to consume. As for fishing I have luck with just about everything including small floating Rapalas, small crank baits, tubes and beaver-tail grubs.
  3. The reason they wouldn't hit anything (I think) is because if you were close enough to see them, they see you, too. Don't think a fish has to scoot away at high speed to be "spooked" from your presence. They probably get tons of canoe traffic, and know what you are. Maybe wait an hour or so after paddling away a good (100-yards) distance, then stealthily paddle close enough for a long cast. I fish out of a canoe a lot in the Ozark's Smallmouth rivers, and I see folks basically sitting on top of the spot they're fishing, where I try to get back a long cast away from good spots and tend to catch more (and bigger) than most others. Smallies can be very, very spooky. That make sense.... Good sound advice .
  4. I've used the tiny torpedo but the pan fish hit it hard also. One question, when you twitch is it in a straight line or back and forth?
  5. Those are beauties!
  6. Agreed! I have not found the head color to matter.
  7. Endless, I have the 15 dollar BPS special from a few months back, has two bearings. Actually caught a carp while I was pan fishing last night. a good 2 pounder, man that is one ugly fish. Need to start packing a camera so these are not just FISH STORIES.
  8. I use a BPS Microlite all the time, love it, catch Crappie and small bass with it all the time in a pond in my back yard. Love the way it handles. No complaints. Great fish!
  9. Wow, those are some beauties. Congratulations!
  10. Those look great, how do we get our hands on some?
  11. I have had luck with mini cranks and grubs. Beetle spins work great too! They love the flash.
  12. Those look really nice. What did you catch them on?
  13. Caught a 3 foot long shovel-head, any ideas on how much this would weigh? Caught it jigging a 3 inch Berkley white minnow and 4 lb test. It was FUN!
  14. Results from trip, caught walleye (up to 2 1/2 lbs), saugeye (fry only), white bass (up to 1 1/2 lbs), large mouth bass (up to 2 lbs), crappie both white and black, some of the largest blue gill I ever seen and channel cats (up to 2 1/2 lbs) and a shovel head, 36 inches long no weight, scale maxed out at 30 lbs. Will follow with some of the picks. All in all a fantastic place to fish , many unexpected catches, almost forgot, caught the Shovel head on 4 lb test, it was like catching a manhole cover.
  15. Nice fish, congrats. Man I got to get in on the smallie action.
  16. Thanks, put the trip off until next week, rain and low pressure and work got in the way. If I learn anything I post results. Thanks anyways.
  17. What, not one person has information, honey hole etc they wish to share. I can not believe that no one hereon this forum has some insight to impart to a novice fisheman.
  18. Looks like a nice fish too me, great catch.
  19. Will be fishing early next week at Seneca lake in East/south east Ohio. Any tips, advice, tricks etc would be greatly appreciated. Birdy
  20. I'm John from West Chester OH, just north of Cincinnati. Fish mostly ponds by foot but occasionally fish the little Miami for smallies. Going to visit Seneca lake in a few weeks, fishing from a pontoon boat. Any tips from those of you that have fished there would be great.
  21. Purple and Gold it is. Thanks for the tip. I may pass on the music, the golden pipes are not that harmonic.
  22. Thanks, much appreciated. I was looking at the lower lake for Sardis, looked promising.
  23. Will be traveling for work for two weeks in December. Wanted to know if anyone has information about fishing holes near Oxford? Thanks
  24. Road Warrior X2 No special equiptment needed. I'm new to smallmouth and am having a blast with what I have already. Good luck, you'll be hooked in no time as I am...
