  1. I've had more luck fishing when the pressure is changing, either up or down, than relying on lunar or solar tables.
  2. Could not agree with you more, great post.
  3. Nice hog, looks like 8+.
  4. Holy Moly, that is a beast!
  5. I fish in my neighborhood retention ponds. All stocked about 10+ years ago. The ponds have crappie, bluegill, bass, carp catfish and shad. There are plenty of crawfish and snakes as well. These ponds are low pressure when it comes to fishing. Fish few years I could barely catch a bass. Now I'm pulling in all sizes. Is it the practice, patients, skill or a combination of these, who knows? One thing is for certain, the knowledge gained from fishing in such an environment has added in my ability to catch fish in public waters. I enjoy both, I consider myself fortunate to be able to walk out my back door and fish, mind you it is on the bank, no boats, so I river fish in a kayak as well. To each his own I like to say, Fish on!
  6. That is totally ridiculous, way to go, green with ***.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help.
  8. Wow, those were unbelievable shots of absolutely magnificent fish!
  9. I have been fishing the ponds around my subdivision for about 5 years. Have increased my catching each year, much of it due to advice I receive from many of you on this site. I have a question that I'm sure one or many of you can answer and I apologize for my ignorance. The fish I've been posting about I have reported as Large Mouth Bass. Some of my buddies at work that I show some of the images say they look more like spotted bass. Here a few shots of the fish I've caught this spring. Any help with the differentiation of the two would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Thanks Dwight, extremely generous of you to share your experience with the group!

  17. Thanks all, and I agree, love the action and so do the fish. The timing was perfect for catching the big ones today!
  18. Caught 4 nice large mouth bass today. Temp was 60 when I started fishing at 10:45am pressure 29.87 and holding steady. Water temperature unknown. Fishing in my own private idaho (old B-52s song), retention pond, fishing from shore. Using new BP pro Qualifier, 12lb test. Using a Yum craw, on a scrounger jig head. Caught four really nice ladies. A 4.5 lb, 4.97 lb, 5.5 lb and a 6.17 lb.
  19. Holy Toledo, that is a beast.
  20. WOW! That is one big fish, nice!
  21. Thanks all, I really have a nice set-up for bank fishing, little to no pressure from other fishermen. Good sized pond with plenty of bait fish. Relearning fishing with plenty of help from the posts on this blog.
  22. March 6th, early thaw in southwestern OH. 6.17 lb LMB
  23. Fishing a Zoom natural colored worm weightless, caught a beast yesterday afternoon, 6.17lb man she was a pig. Hope to have a picture up later this week. Love these prespawn monsters!
  24. I'm reporting back with my purchase, my cheap nature won out, I purchased the Pro Qualifier, with the rebate I ended up paying 54.00 with 10 off for credit I had built up on other purchases (I live 10 minutes for Bass PRO). I know after using it this weekend that I will be purchasing more reels in the future, one of course with be a Shimano. I think the PQ will be perfect for learning baitcasting techniques. Took it out back to my pond and cast it for about a hour on Saturday and really liked the way it performed. Smooth, only one cast where there was a little loosening of the line, easily corrected. Really like the way it casts.
