  1. ive been looking at these and decided im going to give one a try yet i dont know which one to get. i fish in PA and a good bass here is 3-5 lbs my biggest being 7.5, the lakes all have perch and blue gills that i fish and i see a lot of people are killing them on the blue gill. so out of all his swimbaits which would you suggest for the slightly smaller northern bass? thanks!
  2. hey im looking at getting a new rod to use for pitching and flipping jigs, from 1/4 oz up but im on a tight budget and would like to keep it around or under $100 with $140 being the most i can spend. i played around with a kistler H action jig rod and liked it a lot but im not sure if i want to drop $135 for it. what rod would you suggest?
  3. thanks a lot for the info its helping me narrow my search down! i just dont think i would feel comfy in a inflatable kayak but i've never really seen one so i guess i need to get out there and do some shopping!
  4. nice! thanks guys, the can dose have roof racks so throwing a kayak up there wouldnt be a big issue. SimonSays- you're using a inflatable kayak? how well dose that work? do you feel safe in it? i am afriad i would pop a hole in a infatable on my first cast :-/ or is the rubber thick enough that the hooks wont poke through?
  5. oh and the van is just the reg. 4 door 3 rows of seating but i thought maybe if i took the back seats out i could maybe fit a small jon boat in there but im not sure?
  6. hey im 17 and i have been fishing out of my buddies boat forever now. but i got a lot of new lakes that i can fish but there is no way for me to haul his boat to the places its just to big. i was thinking of buying something like a 2 man kayak or a canoe. here are the two main problems though. 1. until i save up enough for a small truck ill be driving my parents van this summer 2. i dont have much money to spend maybe $500 tops has anyone on here ever fished from a kayak? was it easy to fish from or more of a pain? and where would you look for a cheap good kayak? sorry for all the questions guys but it would be great if you can give me some ideas
  7. hey, i have a few spinning setups but for baitcasters all i have is a 7'MF St. Croix Premier with a accurist real and its been great but i want to get another setup going this season i have an quantum burner reel and was thinking about getting a kristler MgJTH70 i really like the looks of the handle and it seems like a great rod for the price. this will be mostly used for jig fishing and throwing tubes and frogs in the thick stuff. so what do you guys think? is there a better rod for the price or is this what i want oh i forgot what kind of line would you suggest? i have been using 12# sufix and its been great but since ill be using this setup for thick cover would you say maybe 25# test? i was also thinking maybe something like 40# powerpro but the last time i tried braid i hated it but it wasnt powerpro and all i hear is good things about powerpro
  8. i just got permission to fish a new small lake "around 10 acres" i went out for a little while yeasterday with a complete newbe but we had some fun. she caught 4 on a senko and i caught 6. 4 came off a spinner bait and the other 2 from a mans-1. i wasnt really fishing as much as scouting for friday because we are going to have a little tourny there. i dont know where to start out at our what to be looking for on this lake. heres the layout of it -shallow mostly 2-4ft but maybe 8ft in some spots towards the middle. -1/2-1ft of weeds growing up from the bottom -no cover or structor other then 3 or 4 small docks -a small run off -a little steam running into the lake -2 small islands near where the stream lets in. -about a 20 yard section of reeds that i caught 3 fish out of - has 3 water spouts in the center -lake is shaped like a L out of the 10 fish we caught 7 where small dinks 2 where around 1-2 pounds and the last one was pushing 4 pounds. most of the fish came from right off shore but we caught 2 out in the middle and missed 3 more. so what would you do on a lake like this?
  9. bassmasta if they just let everyone off noone would buy a license and just say oh oficer i only fish one day a year ;D ;D
  10. i know all the "rules" and stuff for things to be power or finesse fishing but when i say i am power fishing i am tring to cover as much water as quickly as i can, and when i am finesse fishing i am tring to cover every inch of the lake with a slow drawn out retrieve
  11. hmm that is funny, i would say if i could fish everyday of the year or at least 3 or 4 a week i am willing to bet i will catch fish with those 90% of baits you wont buy, and i am not even that good of a fisherman some of the guys here may catch fish on all of those baits. there are some baits out there that are more made to catch fisherman then fish but 90%?? maybe 1% or 2% of the baits wont catch fish. also i think you said you got tired of catching fish so you moved on and fished a tube? wow....maybe you should have tied on the spinnerbait and let her rip. most of the time when i go fishing my main objective is to catch fish. also i am still baffeled 500 spinnerbaits?? you are either not very smart, rich or both. spinnerbaits are my main bait that i fish and i do catch a lot of fish on them. i think i have maybe 40 spinnerbaits altogether but if i was someone who never caught a fish on one i may buy 5 or 6 of them and when i dont catch anything put them in the box and buy baits you catch fish on. and i should mention they aren't cheap. for a good soild spinnerbait you are looking at least $4 and the normall probally around $6. or you can go to wal-mart and get the $1.50 and catch lots of fish but they wont last as long as others. how about this- you send me all those spinnerbaits and ill send you pictures of the fish i catch with them
  12. 10,000 cast and no fish? are you sure you are throwing them into the water? i can catch them on a spinnerbait when nothing else works and you can bet i will have one tied on all the time. if you work them right you will always catch fish. somedays they want it right under the surface other days dragged along the bottom or zig zaged back to you or...... figure out what they are hitting that day and just hang on
  13. thanks guys i ended up staying home watching fishing shows and getting my glove fixed :-/ it rained all day and t-stormed in the afternoon.
  14. it has finally warmed up a little this week and i have nothing to do tomorrow so i figured i will go fishing. i never have much luck this time of year though so i was hoping for some help. -the pond i am fishing has 3 water spouts that shoot water up and a small waterfall the pond is about a acre, last week it was mostly ice except for around the running water. -it has been in the 40-50's this week and it is going to be like 55 degrees tomorrow with light rain early. -there isn't much cover on the pond except for about 10 pipes in the middle with some weeds in the deeper water -most of the pond is like 7 ft. but out in the center it drops off to about 12-15ft. -water has about a foot of visabilty -i plan on going in the afternoon when it is warmer so how would you fish this pond?
  15. PA in cresco Nick_Barr- i think that would be really funny to see, you should try to get a picture of it
