  1. I used to canoe Goose Creek a lot...even Little River, the beautiful tributary of the Goose. I recently moved back into the area and found that one of my prime put-in places is off limits....namely the water treatment plant on Belmont Road. There was real good crappie/bluegill fishing just below the big dam, and a nice little run down to Route 7, including a cool class III rapid at the golf course. I know you can go way up river above the dam somwhere to put in but it's a loooong flat water paddle, done that too! I recently though put my canoe in just under the route 7 bridge ( some small riffles that are easy to re-navigate coming back up stream ). Some good opourtunities here for some floating and casting.... A ways down from the bridge there is a little 3'- 4' high or so dam that completely crosses the Goose.....i caught several nice Largemouth here just above the dam on minnows ( suspended under bobber ). I have run this dam w/ my canoe before but this time just kind of pulled it over and continued on.....there is a very nice, long rock garden rapid just before the River Creek ( ? ) golf course. This is as far up the Goose as bass boaters from the Potomac can go. Caught a vey nice Smallie here at the bottom of the rapid. I portaged my canoe back up the shore and made my way back up river to route 7...other than the aformentioned rapid and the little dam, it's pretty easy to head back up because there isn't much current at all ( except in high water! ) All in all, a great little adventure and good fishin' for those who have the right craft and don't mind a little exertion!
