  1. Thad, Just completed the survey. Good luck on the research project.
  2. I'm new to fishing, but I have seen fishing shows where spinners kill again and again. I personally haven't caught a fish on one either... very aggrivating, really. So, my question is about the presentation. Do you need to be doing anything else aside from varying your retrieving speed until you get that speed the bass want? Any stop and go, etc? Thanks
  3. Welcome aboard! Lots of nice people here. Where do you normally fish?
  4. Welcome... I am a new guy here too, but the guys are very friendly and there's a ton of info all over the place.
  5. I had automatically assumed that BPS brand is a cheap brand and it would be worth while to throw your money into the better, higher-end stuff. I have been looking at Rapala x raps and stuff like that because of this theory. But this isn't the case at all huh?
  6. Yeah, I figured it would be pretty warm by then. Trust me when I say I'd rather go sooner, but it's not entirely up to me or I'd be there now. lol
  7. Hey, all... My friends and I are thinking about setting up a camping trip here, as I've heard the fishing is some of the best in IL. We're thinking about sometime in late June probobaly that last weekend. Is it too late for some good bass fishing there? Thanks
  8. Thanks for the tips on ponds. I've never fished one before, actually. I think it would be a great place to start trying to learn the waters, as they're a lot smaller than the lake I have been studying- Busse Lake.
  9. Has anyone been working spoons vertically? I've seen it popping up more and more in magazines and shows. Has anyone tried this? Also, how hard is it to swap hooks on baits? The spoons I have in particular have huge hooks but am interested in learning how to modify lures. What tools would I need? Thanks a lot.
  10. Thanks for the warm welcome! I like it here already. I have been to Lake Mallard but in July... a little late. When does the water going to hit that beautiful 55-60 degree mark usually? I get the feeling this is going to be a rough spring for fishing when we had snow yesterday.
  11. Great suggestions, fellas. I think this will be a great help! Thanks again
  12. Anyone have any tips or know of gadgets that will help you figure out the temperature of the water you're working without being in a boat? Thanks
  13. Hi, guys. I recently moved to the west burbs of Chicago (near Lombard). I fished a lot with my uncle when I was younger, but am pretty new to fishing. I am always open to learning about new tips and tricks. My goal for the year is to find a nice spot near the house that I can rely on. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.
