  1. Yeah, that is slate run. Definetely a good area of you can access it! It's also great for giant blue gills and crappie during their spawn. Ill be fishing there this week for the weekday tournaments!
  2. Guess they are blaming this weird grass on the geese, bringing it from who knows where. It's 100 times harder to fish in this grass than coontail or whatever. All you do is have to make contact with this grass and you are brining a 20" string of weeds in with every cast. They float too which is horrible because they have been dredging the marinas and dumping the weeds in the middle of the lake....i know of guys that nearly lost the lower unit on the motor from getting these weeds around it.
  3. My fishing partner and I would be interested in glendale AND raystown.
  4. Hey Nate, I think Glendale, Flinton, PA should be added to the poll!! Peace for us central pa folk!! My fishing partner and I would defintely like to join a little get together as long as I have enough advanced notice to request off work. Raystown or Glendale would be my best bet.....Glendale has 20hp limit but is ideal for electric.
  5. SPEEDBEAD: There are definetely some big muskies up there....Pike too. The weeds are awsome this year for Musky and Pike.....As far as the lilly pads, im thinking you mean slate run, or slatelick run? There are actually two shooting ranges with two coves will lillypads. The one near Noel's Custard Stand and Glendale Boat Sales is Slate run, the one near the airplanes and skeet range is mudlick. Both are awsome fishing areas. The back part of slate run near the bridge is hard to get to by bassboat due to it being extremely shallow in most spots. But the fishing in the entire Slatelick branch is probably the best in the lake. Glendale is definetely my "home lake" Ive fished there for about 20-25 years now. Where are you from? Im originally from the Fallentimber/van ormer area.
  6. Hello all. I fished an evening tournament at Glendale Lake in Central PA last night. It was extremely windy to say the least! I was throwing a 1/2oz peanut butter and jelly jig with a rage chunk trailer. I caught some nice bass but also lost a 4+ pounder and a few others. These were my 1st jig fish EVER!! My question is: When I feel the strike while swimming the jig, should I set the hook right away or drop the rod tip real low and give a big hookset like with a carolina rig or what? Any preferences or suggestions? The ones I did catch and got the boat were hooked great but the other seemed to just spit the jig out.....am I possibly setting the hook too early?
  7. My cousin Shawn and I fish Glendale 3-4 times a week. The grass is definetely getting bad up there. That's where the fish are at though! It can be frustrating. Where are you launching from?
  8. Darn geese.....had a flock fly over my boat the other days and I got dive-bombed to say the least!!!
  9. I was always told a good way to tell is the bottom "lip" if you will will be more of a point on a male and more rounded on a female. I fish in Central PA where we don't get the big big bass like some others do!! We do have OK fishing though, can't complain.
  10. Have been fishing a lot this year at Glendale Lake at Prince Gallitzin State Park. There is this crappy foreign weed growing all over the place.....it is real stringy and looks like it has seeds on it. There is grass from shore to 12+ feet of water. I think the park sprayed the weed but then didn't do anything else about it. They are floating EVERYWHERE!! Ive been running down the lake and hit a big patch of floating weeds and it will bog out the motor. Actually had them plug up the impeller. Luckily I was paying attention coz who knows what coulda happened! Anyone know what this grass is? Definetely not coon tail or milfoil of anykind. Every single cast you bring a 6ft string of weeds back to the boat. BLAH!!!
  11. Thanks a lot Delaware. Im hoping it is just a simple fix. If not I can just keep it if anything would break on my other 3 I have. Thanks to everyone for their help.
  12. I'm at work right now so I dont have the exact model. I know it's a johnny morris edition and its like 7.1:1. Like I said, it doesn't have the anti-reverse in one spot. If I reel past that spot or stop short it is fine. I readjusted my magnets and the knob under the drag and nothing seemed to fix it.
  13. Hello, I was fishing a tournament yesterday morning and a problem arose that nearly cost me 2nd place. I had a nice smallie hooked and got it right to the boat and something happened to my reel. Something in the reel just felt like it gave loose and it felt like there was no drag system at all and the the reel kinda went into "free spool" mode, giving me one of the worst backlashes I have ever scene!! The fish darted away about 20 feel before I could grab the line and hand line the fish it. Now when I cast, i engage the reel and can reel without problems. When i stop reeling at only one certain spot I can back reel freely. If I am conscious enough I don't stop the reel at this one spot but when I have a fish on, it's a hard thing to remember. Any clue what may be causing this problem? It's a fairly new reel and I have 3 others just like it and have never had a problem with them. Just didn't know if it could be a simple fix.
  14. Thank you......but I would rather be fishing! There will always be crime.....the fishing around here is only good a couple months out of the year......
  15. Well, first off, I nearly missed the tourney coz I got stuck at work Friday night until nearly 130am. Had to try to get a quick nap and be at the launch by 430. The day nearly started out bad when I got to BS'ing and nearly back in the lake without putting the plug in. Started fishing at approximately 5am, made about a 2 minute run to my first spot. Had a good first half hour to say the least! Three keepers in the boat by 530am! Can't say I ever had that much action...especially at Glendale. Fished until 11am and ended the day with the tournament limit 4 fish. Our club pays 1st place-biggest fish, 2nd place-larges bag, 3rd place-2nd biggest fish, which I wish they would change because Ive had 4 fish with a good weight but get beat by someone who got lucky and caught one decent fish. Anyway, I placed 2nd and won some money. Now I'm sitting at work dead off my behind.....working until 4am. Can you say LONG DAY? I love being a police officer but man.....the hours STINK!! Have a good day everyone. **Caught all my keepers on a Ragetail Craw T-rigged**
  16. I *** some of you guys on this site....you guys got some good fishing locations!! I would give almost anything to be able to fish Pickwick or Kentucky Lake just once!! You can go North, South, or West of Pennsylvania and have exceptional bass fishing!! Just my luck!!! And with my job, it's hard to take time off to travel.....maybe some day!!!
  17. Like I said Shortbasser...The bluegills can peck away.....The benefit definitely outweighs the inconvenience
  18. I fish mainly Glendale....which is def. not a lake known for a lot of lunkers! Im just wondering if the pike and pickerel have something to do with the shad tails ripping. Im sure I could melt them back together because they aren't big rips but as soon as a small rip or tear develops, they lose all of their topwater action. Thanks for you info guys.
  19. Hello all. First want to start off saying I absolutely love the SK ragetail craws and shad. Also totally fell in love with the Crazylegs Chigger Craws. I'm from Central PA and I don't know of a lot of people using any of these baits in the area where I fish. I was just wondering if anyone else has the problem with the pinchers being pecked off by blue gill and other fish and the tails tearing on the SK rage tail shad. Is there anyway to fix this problem?? Believe me......i'll buy 20 packs a week before I quit using them because of my lilttle "problem"!!!!!!!!!!!! Just seems like the bass won't hit the craw with just one pincher....... Anyone fishing around Central Pa, (Altoona, State College) drop me a line!
  20. Every time I go on that lake I swear it is going to be my last.......have said that about 5 times now. I will be sure to get ahold of you....thanks BIlly
  21. The picture to my left is a pic of a bass I caught in late April just inside the Aitch cove, almost to the James Creek Launch. Weighed almost 7lb and is by far my personal best. We are fishing there again July 11 and I probably wont have time to pre-fish so I may hit you up for some advice!!! Thanks, Billy
  22. We had a club bass tourney that launched out of Aitch at 5am. Ended up being cancelled. The lightning was horrible!! Been catching much there?
  23. Went fishing at Glendale over the weekend. Caught several 11 3/4 inchers and several pike. Glendale is full of 11 3/4 inch bass. Wish they would put at 15 inch limit so the bass would have a little more time to grow. Here are some picks of the bigger ones.
  24. Thank you for your opinion!!
  25. Hello all, Just wondering if anyone has tried the newer model of the banjo minnow....guess it's the 006 model. I was having trouble sleeping the other night and turned on Versus and saw an infomercial for the banjo minnow. Im not usually one that believes everything I see on TV but those minnows had really good action and looked great in the water. I had the older version of the Banjo minnow and caught a lot of fish. Was wondering if anyone had success stories with the bait or if people just wasted the money getting them. Thanks in advance for your opinions.
