  1. I've fished 4-5 tournaments on the lake. I've done well and I've done horrible!! How have you made out? Last time I was up we lost our trolling motor early on day 1 and it spun me out! Think I caught 4 bass in the two day event. Was an expensive trip to finish last place. Thanks for the camping info. We figure that if it gets too warm or pours we can sleep in the truck.
  2. No one able to give suggestions on a campground or hotel?
  3. Any new reports? I did hear Weaver's might be open but that was just heard through the grapevine.
  4. Hello all, My local bass club from PA will be fishing a 2 day tournament at Chautauqua in late July. My fishing partner and I are looking for a place to stay for that Friday and Saturday night (Tournament is on Saturday and Sunday). Any suggestions? We stayed at the Red Roof in the last couple years but we missed out on the group rate and now they want to charge 110 a night. Anyone have any suggestions or an old shed we can camp out in for the weekend? We are both police officers and would gladly provide security during the night.......LOL. We were also tossing around the idea of finding a campground in the area. All we pretty much need is a place to sleep and access to electric to charge the trolling motor batteries. Any suggestions??? Thanks, B. Mayes
  5. Looking for a little help. Fishing a tournament on the Clarion River. We are launching at the Mill Creek Rd launch off of Strattanville(sp?) Road. I fished it last year for almost 9 hours and didn't have a bite! I was told if we go up river from the launch we can probably catch some smallmouth. Anyone have any tips, tricks, advice, or anything to go on? We will be there Sunday at 7am.
  6. try the transient pier off of the Lempe (sp) campground. From the bay to the main lake. Very good area to bounce a heavy jig off of the bottom for some smallies.
  7. Fished a night tournament at Sayers. Definitely like the stuff you guys put in the lake. I've won a lot of club tournaments at Sayers with my old club but have been cursed there with my new club (Tyrone Bassmasters) Slowly getting better though. Definitely like the cover and structure changes and I'm looking forward to see it in the daylight. Thanks, Bill
  8. Fished a night tournament at Raystown, PA last friday night. Was having a horrible night in the back of the boat while my boater had a limit before I even had a bite! Anyway, about 5am I got horribly sick and started vomiting and had chills. Out of respect for my boater I asked him to take me to the dock and drop me off. I then spent the next couple hours watching from shore/vomiting. Anyone ever had a similar experience? That was the first time I've ever quit a tournament early and I felt like I failed my partner because I couldn't continue. Just wanted to see what other have done or would have done in the same situation.
  9. Hello all. Been awhile since I've been on here. anyway, I have 4 tournaments the next 4 weekend at raystown. Was wondering what people have been using. We'll be launching out of aitch for all but 1 tournament. Any little bit off advice will help. Anyone catching bass on the alabama rig yet? I through it a couple times at glendale tonight with no luck.
  10. Hello. Over the past year I have bought 4 tec spec rods from Dick's Sporting Goods. Two flippin sticks, a 7ft casting and a 7ft spinning. I was at the store and online recently and was unable to find any more of the tec spec 7ft 6in flipping sticks. For the price they are great rods....was wondering if anyone knew if they quit making them or they were just out of them at the store and online. Thanks, Bill
  11. Hey guys, Haven't been on here in awhile. Fishing at Glendale, Sayers, and Raystown has been pretty tough. Have been doing OK at Raystown but it's all at night!! We are heading up to Chataqua New York for a two day tournament. It will be the first time Ive fished in NY. Guess it's a good smallie lake with a lot of docks. Ive been reading that you can get caught up on the dock pattern and miss a lot of fish off shore. Any suggestions as far as location, GPS coordinates??...HAHA....etc. We are leaving next Friday morning. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Bill
  12. Caught this one last night at Raystown, PA. Great fight. Caught her on a black and blue "justice jig" with a black and blue rage chunk trailer......the jig and trailer looked so good coming through the water I almost jumped in and ate it!!
  13. Thanks Joe. I think Im gonna try to get there next week sometime...The fish we found at Raystown were definetely on the post spawn pattern....at least moving out. To the other guy...I fished Aitch several times past couple weeks. Moderate success....really good after dark. Black senko or black and blue jig has been my baits of choice......
  14. Hey JK....have you been on Canoe Creek lately? I have a tournament there on the 25th and haven't fished it in a week or two. Any suggestions? Prefer to be away from the stumps coz that's where everyone goes!!!! Thanks! Bill
  15. Just got back from Raystown....didnt start catching any big fish til the sun went down....Caught a nice one down from Seven Points near the cliffs. I think I posted the picture correctly. Ended up catching about 6 nice ones.
  16. Heading down to Raystown for the afternoon/evening.....Haven't been down in a week. Anyone know what the largies are doin?? Wanna catch me a tagged one!!!! Ill post a report when I get home. Bill "fishincop640"
  17. I thought it was you.....I was fishing from shore started at the spillway up to the launch. I got them good at raystown Sunday.....how is park ave been? Haven't been down for calls.....I know the new stop sign at 5th st is gonna be my new place to sit!! If you make a Facebook page send me a friend request. I got some good pics on there. See ya bud....be safe.
  18. Were you on a red and silver aluminum boat? I was fishing from shore and saw the guys in the boat ripping up the bass!! We caught a couple crappie....
  19. Has anyone heard about the tagged fish contest going on? They put tagged bass and walleye in Raystown, Sayers, Penns Creek, and a couple other lakes across Pennsylvania and the U.S. Wouldn't it be great to catch a million dollar fish!! Im not sure if Im allowed to put the website up that is sponsoring this but it's a fishing and hunting store that starts with C....and it's the worlds foremost outfitter......... Caught 8 nice bass at Raystown last night....didn't notice any tags.
  20. Anyone else having trouble viewing the posts? There seems to be a lot of blank space between posts and Nate, your posts seem to be all messed up!!
  21. You may be right Nate. I just was looking through the Altoona Mirror and it said about the launches at Raystown being closed. I remember a couple years ago the state parks shutting down because there was no state budget. They said the operations at the resort would still be up and running. This stuff is so confusing!! It also said that IRS workers working on tax refunds will be furloughed. Does that mean since I haven't filed my taxes mean I can wait for awhile? I bet they have IRS workers collecting the money...just not dishing it out!
  22. I've been watching the Capitol Hill saga over the last few days. Is it true that if a budget isn't passed within the next few hours all of the state park lakes and anything governed by Army Engineers will be shut down? Anyone hear anything?
  23. What does it take to get into those fisher's of men tournaments? Im also hoping to join the Tyrone Bassmasters. Anyone member there?
  24. Due to having to work late Sunday afternoon we didn't make it down to Raystown. I did get my new trolling motor though. Got a 2010 Minn Kota Maxxum 80lb thrust trolling motor for $500. Guy I got it from just got out of fishing the Stren Series Tournaments and this was his back up TM.....Not a single scratch on the thing!! Hoping to make it down to Raystown sometime this week. Will post report!
  25. How did the tourney go at Sayer's? Im sure the water temp was back down in the 40s.
