  1. The local bass season closed on March 16th and only reopens on May 15th, that doesn't leave much to do. So I've decided to start rewatching some of my favorite movies, some that I haven't seen since I was a kid either on VHS or DVD. Here's tonight's feature
  2. Not tackle this time (my TW order has been "stuck" in Paris since Monday for some reason, thanks FedEx) but more like some oopsie insurance. Had to get these from US Amazon (or, as you might know it, Amazon) because they don't have a European distributor, but it's exactly what I was looking for - especially when we fish from floating docks or rent a boat or canoe, or even on guided trips. Basically anytime I'm fishing somewhere if I dropped my phone only James Cameron could get it back.
  3. @TNBankFishing thanks. I have all 3 of these already, it was just to see the best one to throw the S-Waver on. The Expride is my frog rod and yeah, the BCR875 is Loomis' old heavy Carolina rig rod, so it's about as bottom contact-y as it gets ? To be fair, the Expride's weight range even allows for the 168 as well. I'll get a couple of those as well and try them out with heavier line.
  4. Over here they're a delicacy. There's this Portuguese dish, ensopado de enguias or eel stew that's really popular. So are fried eels. Served with toasted bread slices, all rustic like... My grandad loved it.
  5. Good call. Try them both, even though the 150 is lighter I ended up liking the 70 more on that particular rod. On my jig rod, even though they both felt right, I went with the 150 because the bigger spool made more of a difference with larger diameter line.
  6. The 150 is lighter, just by a hair. I have both and I use the 70 (71 in my case) on my jerkbait rod simply because it palms better with it. Also, with either 20# braid or 10# fluoro, spool size is definitely not an issue. Also, even though the ratio is higher, the spool is slightly smaller, effectively bringing in less inches per crank (about 29 on the 71HG, 26 on the 150), so they're closer than they seem.
  7. Thanks @Deleted account and @WRB! The BCR875 is the only one I'm not really using now, and the 844 is the baitcaster I take with me when I'm bank fishing. So that works out great.
  8. Are you trying to start a rumble? ? Have you considered the 70 size MGL instead?
  9. Hey guys I'm looking to dip my toes into this whole glide bait business. I have a couple of 120 S-Wavers on a TW website wishlist that I'm ordering before our local bass season opener on May 15th. These things weigh almost 1oz and I have 3 rods that on paper are able to handle it. I don't want to get a dedicated rod just yet, so out of these three which one would you throw it on? - Expride 7'3" XH (1/2-2oz) - Old Mossyback BCR875, now the CRR - (3/8-1 1/2oz) - 844C MBR (1/4-1oz) Trying to save a trip with all of these 3 just to figure stuff out, thought the easiest way was to ask on here. P.S.: Actually, scratch that about ordering them from TW. Just found them in a local sporting goods store for €11, or just over $12 in today's exchange rate. They should get here next week.
  10. I have both and although the Ks are great reels, the MGL is the better choice. Unless you need help balancing a rod with a heavier reel or you really need the 200 size spool, the MGL will work better with a wider range of baits. I already swapped the Ks over to MGLs on two of my bottom contact setups and have the smaller one on my jerkbait/topwater rod. And I'm definitely getting the lower ratio one for my crankbait setup.
  11. I haven't tried any recent Shimanos above the Curado, so I'm gonna have to go with the Curado MGL 150/151. Just picked another one up yesterday and it throws the light stuff, it throws the heavy stuff, and anything in between. If we were talking all time I'd have said the Core 100/101 Mg. I loved that thing.
  12. 20# Sufix 832 to 8 or 10# Sniper. Works great for wacky rigs, Texas rigged 4 and 5" Senkos, even nose hooked Flukes.
  13. I have the Plano E-Series and I really like it. You can use it as a regular backpack or with 3600 size boxes, you can place a box on the outside for easy access, strap two or three rods to the sides... For a 50-ish dollar backpack it's actually quite nice.
  14. @BassBlowup354 just came back, they didn't have the 894. Handled the 893 and it felt nicely balanced, though. But I do know the 894 is a different animal, so...
  15. I needed a good t-rig rod (well, needed is a strong word) so I took a 3 hour round trip to a little store to pick these up. It's my first current GLX. Considering my track record with the NRX in 2020 and the Expride last year, you can now look forward to the GLX line being refreshed next year. And on Thursday I placed an order with TW for a light Simms jacket (the Flyweight Access hoody) in blue, because I have the black one and love that thing, plus some U-40, fluorocarbon line, and a few more odds and ends. As soon as my order was processed the jacket got $80 cheaper because of their "Winter Apparel Blowout Sale". Called them up yesterday and they were cool enough to apply the discounted price.
  16. I'm thinking of getting the exact same rod. I'm going to check it out in person on Saturday, if I manage to get my hands on it, I'll let you know.
  17. @Derek1 you actually did it! ? Those look great! That black red and Black Neon is giving me some ideas because I have a pack of those lying around somewhere... And that tequila sunrise combo, oh boy.
  18. The new stuff I want to try this year includes the Jackall Kaera frog, the Teckel Sprinker (I only fished the Maracker last year), the Vision 110 and the Rerange, and the OG 6.
  19. Here's another one that's worked for me: Brown/Orange Special Dobyns Extreme Football Jig and a 3.75" Watermelon Copper Orange Red Laminate (956) Yamamoto Flappin' Hog This a variation of Greg Blanchard's cheater jig (that's the Craw Daddy jig color with a 954 Flappin' Hog) that has worked for me, as you can see from the trophy sized fish on the photo below
  20. @MN Fisher the first time you mentioned the Pit Boss as a jig trailer I bought a pack and tried it out - I was not expecting the action to be that good!
  21. I can see why, this thing is all the rage with the fish around here.
  22. @roadwarrior it's a great summer-ish color for our clear water reservoirs. It doesn't really show in the photo, but the skirt has some purple flash to it
  23. 953 "SMK W/PRP BLU/042 W/BLU". I have some Flappin' Hogs in that same color.
  24. Last year I got into jig fishing and this led me down the path of matching certain jigs with the right trailers. Now, before you @ me, I know that it matters a lot more to me than to the fish, and that you can pretty much get bit on any jig and trailer combination. This is about the aesthetic, as the Instagram crowd would say. Here are some I've found that go great together. PB&J Dirty Jigs Finesse Jig and a Cinnamon Black and Purple Flake (221) Yamamoto 4" Double Tail Grub Watermelon Pumpkin Craw Bass Patrol Silicone Football Jig and a Hard Candy Strike King Rage Chunk And my absolute favorite, the Green Pumpkin Craw Bass Patrol and a Falcon Lake Craw Range Chunk. Green on top, red bottom. On these last two the light from my desk lamp does not do them justice. In direct sunlight they look a lot better. And compressing the file down to a sub 350kb JPEG didn't do wonders for that first one either. So, what do you got? What combinations have you found that just... Click?
  25. @NorthernBasser wow, that almost looks like a super obscure JDM bait. In a good way!
