don't give up......i've had good luck with them. with either a light screw-in weight or a weighted hook, even weightless to get through cover well. just need to make sure you have them rigged straight for best action. heck, i've even used wacky style. they have fluke-like action and with paddle tail give good vibration too.

Cabelas has Owner wire ones in 1/0. those are plenty big. i use'm on 5" trick sticks/senkos all the time and have great luck. i initially thought that they might be a bit small too, but they aren't. good luck...

i've even rigged it wacky, it has action of a dying fish. it kinda moves like a fluke and has that paddle tail to give it some action. let it fall to bottom then raise rod and let it fall on slack line.

i've had good luck with the yamamoto swimbaits. i got the "kit" from Cabelas in the 7" with six different colors. they are great. have good action. i even cut them down to 5" if i wanna go small. but as for the regular senko's. i lov'em. but have found that the trick sticks from *** you read about here are the "bomb"! you can't beat the price and they have just as much action and weight. for the money you can't beat ***. half the price and twice the numbers of worms.

i agree, not sure how it would hold up to a large fish. not to mention how i would fit it in my tackle box!! :-/

i just started using o-rings on my wacky rigs to conserve on the number of worms i go through. one thing i am concerned about is the direction of the hook now. it is parallel to the worm instead of sticking "out" sideways. or am i hooking it wrong? do you think it will affect hook-ups? thanks...

yea.... i agree... on the "what hook size for that size worm?? i have rigged with 5/0 EWG and it looks like a "dink" compared to the worm?? what else would/could be used?? :-/

chrome/blue trap senko, i like mine wacky white spinner white chatter and i always seem to throw a double tail hula grub at some point... 8-)

yamamoto double tail hula grub in green pumpkin, black flake. can fish it so many different ways. weightless, t-rig, c-rig, jig it, swim it, bounce it off bottom, even could pinch tails off, fish it backwards like a grub if needed.

i've seen my buddy throw the red eye trap in sexy shad in a tournament we were in. he did really well with it when nothing else was working. and we had tried everything. so... it convinced me.......for that day anyway probably all about location and timing though.

great idea about putting it on the line a few feet. i can see where in the summer they will get really messy. so..... i will take them out of the ziplock i have already done it with and try to "clean" them up a bit and put them in another one. after i did it, i was concerned about maybe "breaking down" the plastics if on there too long??? obviously i was bored and just had to do something "fishing related" one day when it was too cold to fish... thanks...

instead of applying megastrike before i use each plastic, i recently decided to add some to each bag of plastics. then move them around in the bag to grease them up that way. the whole bag. i know it is easier that way.....but my question is.... since the "strike" will be on there for a while, maybe all summer, if i don't use the whole bag. will if affect the plastic, break it down? or lose the effectiveness of the megastrike. i have the "old" formula and really like it. is it bad to put it on and not use that particular plastic for a long time? :-/

senkos, trick sticks, trick worms work best for me. finesse jigs some also

i've had luck here in water temp less than 55 with a chrome/blue rattle trap. i know a lot of people say red or orange, but i have not done any good with those colors here......and i sure have tried.. :-? also, strike king red eye trap in sexy shad

working on a limited budget... i have not tried the spro. but am sure they are good. just a little pricy for me. i have had great success with the basic scum frog and their trophy series. never ever had a problem getting hung up. always land on their bellies and the body is plenty soft for hook sets.

i've had luck with the the basic scum frog as well as the trophy scum frog. they are less expensive than the spro. you can throw them anywhere and not get hung up. i am in bloomington, in. i think it is a little early here to throw them. it won't stay warm long enough... nice days then it gets down in the high 30's or low 40's. water temp is not yet 55. my favorite way to fish is to throw those two scum frogs...in as much slop as i can find or parallel to the bank, even up on the bank and swim off of. i don't have a boat, so all of mine is from the bank. the key is to not try to set the hook too soon. it is very hard to wait....but if you can wait 2-3 seconds, you'll have much better hook up rate. there is nothing more exciting that seeing the explosion on a frog in the slop....or on any topwater!!!

thanks a lot guys... sounds like i may have some luck with em'.. we've had so much rain the water is too muddy right now. there is a place i have in mind though when the water clears up. they look good enough to chew on.. 8-) i really appreciate the ways to rig them... i had a buddy who said to try these...so i was wonderin'......is he for real? or messin' with me? :-? anybody tried this color? if so, best to use in clear water? and how did you rig it? thanks..

there ate only a few times i will actually pay for the "big names". i have had great success with Cabela's crank baits. so why pay for the Rapala? i prefer Yamamoto's stuff because it is so soft and seems to have better action. like his double tail hula grub. my number one soft plastic. but i ordered from *** last week and can't wait to try theirs. i have heard nothing but good stuff on here about them. not to mention the price is right. so, if their stuff is as good as or really close. i will not pay for the yamamoto stuff. a lot of is is confidence.

thanks for all the ideas/suggestions. the water temp is still a little cool. around 50. i have not been able to go there yet. i hope to tomorrow morning. i have to walk down some riprap to get there. it sure seems like there has to be some fish there. once i do go i'll try what has been sugessted and report back. i am relatively new to serious bass fishin....but am addicted. and have read so much here...i seem to be educated. just have to put it to use now. 8-) i really like how everyone shares. very cool
