  1. 6" u-tail in watermelon seed and red shad trickworm in motor oil red and pink
  2. are these basically the same? i know it's not "aaron martens" scrounger any more. it is LuckE strike. and i can't get through tackle warehouse. i know i can through Bass Pro. BUT Bass Pro doesn't carry Fat Ika's. i was getting ready to order through TW to get Fat Ika's and was going to pick up a couple scroungers (one stop shopping). now that they don't carry them i saw the sworming hornet fish head shaker. just wondering if they are the same?? :-/ thanks..
  3. might i suggest you get the cork handled "graphite lite" sticks instead of the cheaper eva foam grip ones. the weight and sensitivity difference is drastic that is exactly what i was looking at...i prefer the cork handles as well. it is 7ft medium. i have other 7ft rods but none have 9 guides so i was curious as to the affect? dick and Delaware.... thanks for your input.. much appreciated... so.... 9 including tip is not a bad thing...and should not keep me from buying.. ? i can't see where a guide would add much weight? but i will be first to admit...i aint no pro... :-? my Dick's doesn't carry the All Star.. ?? thanks.
  4. i was recently looking at some rods at Dick's. there was a Shakespeare Ugly Stik spinning rod that had 9 guides including the tip. it seems like a decent/average rod for the price... $45 all my rods have 6 or 7 guides. how, or will more guides affect the performance? :-/ thanks..
  5. what is your opinion? if you use a spinnerbait trailer.... what is your favorite? what works best for you and when? thanks.. i'm getting ready to order some spinnerbaits from ***.... can't let that free shipping offer pass by...
  6. i typically use double willow also. or front colorado back willow. i do use colorado in stained to dirty water. but, like you i have read ***s article and am considering some double-oklahoma. does anyone have any feedback on these?
  7. Anyone else use the cloth method? I was considering this but did not know if it wasn't necessary. i believe the bottle says to use a cloth NOT COTTON when first spooling. turning and spraying cloth as needed i use an old dress sock and it works fine.... also sprayed spool a couple times as spooling...and now spray the night before..
  8. Lake Fork Tackle Live Magic Shad weightless... either swim it or jerk it..
  9. X2 on always worth 2-3 fish. i joined a club as a non-boater 3 years ago. the first tourney i had one tied on. my boater kinda laughed and said he didn't know anyone used them anymore.. i caught 3 keepers within the first hour. the next tourney i noticed he had one tied on before we all headed out from the dock.. ;D i carry 2 but have never changed the hooks...sounds like i should. although i've never had hook up problems..
  10. i am not familiar with this Shimano model?? Stimula. my buddy's wife bought him one for christmas. she knew of the Shimano name so she thought it was a good rod. we have no idea what she paid for it. 7ft spinning med/fast. anyone know of these? good/bad? thanks..
  11. wow!! psychedelic.... Jimi Hendrix where are you??
  12. A standard $2.99 Scum Frog is just fine. Very soft body, collapses easily,,hardly ever miss with them. X2
  13. Rapala original floater silver/black first bass caught when i was told "last cast" and i was reeling in as fast as i could.... been addicted ever since
  14. one of my favorites i don't leave the house without these. it made my "top 5 bait" list yes, they don't hold up real well...but they are worth it. i like the idea lightsout had about cross slicing and gluing.
  15. i take out 3-5 of whatever plastics and put them in a sandwich bag in the backpack. so instead of carrying around 20 count bags of plastics , i only carry what i need for that outing. X2
  16. senko 5" zoom u-tail 6" yamamoto dbl tail hula grub zoom trick worm 7" anaconda lake for tackle live magic shad or fluke rage tail toad
  17. i think you shouldn't limit yourself too much. it's putting the bait at the right place at the right time. one of my favorite rigs is a Quantum size 10 reel with 6lb yo-zuri ultra soft (thanks RW) on a med action rod. i fish weightless 90% of ther time. i like the Zoom u-tail worm 6" watermelon seed and red shad. 7" anaconda, green pumpkin. lake fork tackle live magic shad. yamamoto dbl tail hula grub, green pumpkin blk flake. Zoom trick worm, bubblegum and motor oil red. 7" berkley power worm, black. usually use 3/0 or 4/0 Gammie hook. never had a problem with hook set or landing plenty over 3-4lb range and more than a few over 6lb up to 8lb. so, don't think you can't use a variety of baits or think you can't land some nice size fish. i truly think it is being at the right place at the right time... as it always is. yes, there are limitations with a lighter set up... but you CAN another site with what you are using. good luck!! i am having withdrawals here in S IN. too cold.....or, is it? i've never fished when the temp is in the 30"s and water temp is in the 40's.... :'(
  18. i use Mustad weedless wacky 1/0. they hold up well and stay sharp. i considered using a larger size but have never had an issue with gut hooking. realy no need to "set" the hook either. they hook themselves. just watchyou rline close as always. i get these through Cabelas. less than $4 for 5.
  19. zoom u-tail watermellon seed jitterbug 3/8 black lake fork tackle live magic shad spinnerbait white double willow 5" yamamoto senko pumpkin grn/blk flake WACKY wow....very tough to limit it to 5..... guess thats why the BAIT MONKEY LIVES!!!! 8-)
  20. anyone used these? they look like they may be produce some good action... good....bad??? thanks...
  21. well....the bait monkey is hungry. i've read so much about these.... i see TW has many colors... what would you say are the top 2 or 3 colors? thanks..
  22. don't know about underrated everywhere, but around here I am the only person I have seen for the last couple years throwing a jitterbug. I catch fish on it almost every day i go fishing, usually 2-4 fish. I have not seen another angler throwing a jitterbug. I have even had a few comment on my throwing it as they go trolling by; things like, " wow, I haven't seen anyone use a jitterbug for along time" I just smile and wave. X2
  23. Mustad weedless wacky hooks 1/0. Cabelas. 5 for $2.89. they hold up well. 4" GYCB senko pumpkin w/blk&grn i also use an o-ring and can get 8-10 fish on one worm.. i initially was worried about the hook-up due to the hook sitting parrallel to the worm with the o-ring but that has been a non-issue. just watch your line. they hook themselves.... no real hook-set. usually hooked in the corner of mouth. good luck.
  24. depends on the style/type of worm 4" senko- wacky all others (zoom u-tail, anaconda, trick worm, etc..)usually weightless texas rigged
  25. X2 on all the info.... but... don't forget the good 'ol black jitterbug.... early morn and at dusk.. it's almost idiot-proof (maybe that's why i like it! ) i've had luck in 15-20ft of water
