  1. KVD stuff works... i had my doubts before.....but after using for for over a year.... i will never let myself run out. i haven't used anything else.. and will never try anything else. why change if it works??
  2. zoom u tail in watermelon seed and red shad are my go-to curly tail. yea, i catch some dinks on it....but also caught my pb 7lb 8oz i also use powerbait 7" and have had luck with them too. black. in straight tail i prefer zoom finesse in green pumpkin magic and trick worm in watermelon magic and any senko wacky rigged....i've never caught anything with a regular texas rigged senko?? :-/ then again.... i rig it wacky 99% of the time 8-)
  3. Don't feel too bad about that. I have been at it for about 60 years and some days I forget to unhook the boat before I put the trailer in the water. ;D jitterbug has been one of my favorites for years. i still get made fun of from my boater when he sees i have one tied on for the first morning run in a tourney...but they soon find out IT FLAT OUT CATCHES FISH!! i think one reason it still works is that anglers are too busy using "the new, hottest" lures. cast...let it sit. then slow steady retrieve. and don't try to set the hook too soon... it is addicting...
  4. Watch the video, and learn. my mistake.... i couldn't open a you tube video at work.. i guess i had a "premature evaluation" i hate it when that happens.. :'( now i understand... and like the octopus hook use
  5. thanks guys... yea.. i think i'll pick up a new one.... unless i can get him to take $30... 8-)
  6. i hear what your sayin... but...if they haven't fished much...they have no idea how many plastics there are. truthfully i don't know about you....but i always have way more variety than i end up using...so maybe just narrow down what you take..... :-/ just an idea... being a non-boater i know the night before a tourney i drive myself crazy trying to cram everything into one tackle bag. and i end up using maybe 1/3 of the plastics...maybe. i usually end up sticking to just a handful of the ones i have a lot of confidence in.
  7. X3 on the 3/0 EWG Gammie how could you possibly use a 6/0 :-/ must be some big beaver ;D
  8. i've got a chance to pick up a one year old president 6730 spinning reel for about $45. i know the guy..its in great shape. i've read some reviews....these seem to be really good reels..for the money..new $55-60. any input is appreciated.. thanks..
  9. Try a Duo-lock snap X5
  10. those are crazy!! you come up with some pretty cool creations. let us know how they work..
  11. it will be intersting to see what kind of true "bargains" they are listed at. a "buy it now" price. :-? or if we truly get to bid on our own and let the market determine the price. good to know this is happening though...thanks for the post
  12. zara spook hard to beat for the money... and easy to work
  13. i bank fish 90% of the time... parallel to start always... then fan cast.. i've had best luck with.. zoom u tail in watermelon seed and red shad zoom trick worm watermelon magic zoom finesse worm green pumpkin magic lake for tackle live magic shad any color zoom fluke white and baby bass 4" senko wacky rigged pumpkin with green/blk flake rage ananconda green pumpkin black jitterbug...early and late cavitron buzzbait black and white spinnerbait white i've not had much luck with cranks or jigs 'cause they get hung up all the time where i fish....too rocky and too many laydowns. good luck!
  14. when i fish from the bank i always take 4 or so of each type plastic i plan on using and put in their own zip loc baggie. except for the RAGE plastics. they stay in their original. sounds like same plan... i do put some megastrike in each baggie...to keep fresh and slick them up.
  15. Gamakatsu 5/0 Offset Round Bend X2
  16. the o-ring definitely works to preserve the senko. i also put the hook just barely thru the senko sometimes...because after greasing it up with mega-strike i've had the worm slip off the o-ring...even if tight. :-/ i use Mustad wacky weedless hooks... 1/0 from Cabelas...5 for $2.89. they are very durable. you don't need to "set the hook". just watch your line and real the line tight after they take it.
  17. i just picked up a Team Daiwa Tiera spinning rod for $55 a couple weeks ago... MHF 7' i really like it.... so maybe you can stick with Daiwa..
  18. Yamamoto double tail hula grub. it can be fished many ways.. like a jig, hop it, slow reel it...or swim it.. X3 on the Live Magic Shad....it's a killer... and versatile too!!
  19. KVD works!! it keeps my Yo-Zuri ultra soft from coiling... without... it coils bad... 6lb on spinning gear :-/
  20. I believe Ugly Stiks have aluminum oxide guides unless it's the Lite version. what about the LITE version?? is it ok to use braid??
  21. black cavitron with red blade. awesome. (and dont forget the jitterbug) X2
  22. i think the Gammie hook is good quality..no problem there imho i would suggest with a senko movin' up to a 4/0. and as others have suggested....check your drag....
  23. has any one used these or know the quality? i've got a chance to pick up a couple used ones for around $30 apiece. i don't know if they are low end or not?? thanks..
  24. so if braid will "eat" the guide at the tip of the rod... what type of replacement tip is recommended?
  25. just picked up MH spinning rod....all others i have are Med. looking to get a specific set up for "power" fishing gonna put it on a new Quantum 2500 spinning reel. i know thats not a "power" reel but its what i got. i've never used braid before. i've always used mono...and recently Yo-Zuri ultra soft. i don't wanna go crazy price wise on the braid...so what low/medium priced brand and lb should i get? also, can i use an improved clinch knot with braid. i don't plan on using a leader. thanks..
