  1. The Pflueger President is a fine reel with a solid track record. Tough to find better performance and value at the $60 price point X3 i own 2 and would recommend to anyone....for the money....very hard to beat... imo
  2. just fished a night tourney this past saturday evening. i had luck (4th out of 19 as a non-boater) with a dark not-all black willow/colorado blade 1/4oz spinner, a junebug anaconda and a black buzzbait. good luck!!
  3. i love Zoom products...they work fine as-is. but i do use Mega-strike and JJ's.... not all the time. who REALLY knows if they work. i'm of the opinion that they sure don't hurt. not sure of the "attractant" part...but do think they make them hold on longer.... like i really know i think it's more of a confidence thing...which is 90% of it.. 8-)
  4. the sesitivity is outstanding... for example...there was a time that i was looking away from my line.... and a small dragonfly landed on the tip....i instantly looked back at my line... i was impressed..
  5. anybody used these? 7/0 offset round bend... they look like the ticket for the big worms instead of the 5/0 EWG's i have. if there is a better option....i'm open for suggestions.. thanks..
  6. i received the DHC5-681SPM it is a one-piece 6'8" med action, extra fast taper spinning rod with split grip cork handle. it is labled "tube-grub" at first look and feel i was very impressed...very light and the construction looks and feels great. nice high quality guides and reel seat. i have had the opportunity to use is 4 times in the past 10 days. i am very impressed. i paired it with a plueger president 6730 spooled with 8lb trilene xl for 2 trips and with a quantum kinetic pti10 spooled with 6lb yo-zuri ultrasoft. both performed well. except for tourney's, i fish from the bank and use very little weight or weightless soft plastics 75% of the time. and have found a couple new holes to fish that are pretty overrun with vegetation. i found the power of the rod to be on the stronger side of medium which i really liked. i caught over 40 fish on the rod with more than a few being over 3 and 4lbs. i like the light weight and ease of casting. what i really liked was the quick action for the hookset. i had no problem getting fish out of the salad.. overall i really like the rod and how it performed and would highly recommend it for the application i use.

  8. the clear JJ's is what i have... i plan on using Anaconda in Junebug and Powerbait in black w/blue fleck so..... ok with rage.... and quick dip the powerbait it will be... thanks....
  9. getting ready for a night tourney... i will be using some big worms 10" powerbait and 10" Rage anaconda's i have JJ's.. does anyone use or what are your thoughts for using JJ's one these.. :-/ since they already have their own scent?? thanks...
  10. didnt know they made 2 piece rods anymore unless your getting a pole from wally world. Did you find any nice 2 piece poles? if your're trying to say 2 piece rods aren't any good... i would have to disagree...i believe i have read here that the action is not that much different....just as good?? maybe not?? but junk?? no way.. you can find a decent 2 piece. i found a Team Daiwa Tierra 2 piece for $65 and it works fine. even a 2 piece ugly stick will work if it's not your primary rod...and just to be kept in the trunk.. imo
  11. I throw soft plastics or jigs/plastic trailers about 90% of the time. The biggest exception, is spinnerbaits. X2 biggest reason is i fish from the bank and get hung up too much...plus it's a confidence thing with plastics
  12. which one is your favorite? are they used for the same one application? pitchin and flippin.... what color(s) work best for you?
  13. full grip....and cork. i don't own a split grip but have held and considered one but i didn't like the feel of it..
  14. Black Jitterbug. Why ? because besides that it works I like how it sounds X2
  15. bobby... looks great!! when/where/how soon can we get them?? the bait monkey is on my back!!
  16. i'd say go weightless. i fish from the bank 90% of the time and if i try to use any weight at all...i get hung up every 3rd or 4th cast like you are talking about. really nothing you can do. just let it sink and work it back. usually if you're fishing from the bank you aren't fishing very deep water anyway...if parallel to the bank. good luck
  17. i got my "winner" email also.... looking forward to using it and giving feedback.. 8-)
  18. i think for the money they are fine. i know there are many hi-end guys here that look down on them, but i am not one. meaning....i'm not a a hi-end ($300 and up) rod guy. i own 2 ugly stick lite..7' med and they work just fine. are they as good as the hi-end stuff?? guessin' not. but do you catch less fish with them?? maybe in certain applications. i fish 3-5 times a week and like them just fine. would i like to be able to get a hi-end rod...sure. but i'd like a corvette too. you don't NEED hi-end stuff to catch fish. i just finished a tourney with the KVD of our club, he had plenty of hi-end stuff but he didn't laugh at my 2 ugly sticks and 2 daiwa tierra's.... so, if thats what you can afford...they work well. imho
  19. right now i'm only using 2 lines..on my spinning gear yo-zuri ultra soft 6lb and 8lb trilene xl....and xt sometimes i use improved clinch(cinch?) knot and have had no problems with larger fish. drag is key. and checking for nicks after a few fish.
  20. i am in need.....well ok want.. 8-) of a med heavy spinning rod in the $60-70 price range. i know... maybe i should step up... but i can't :'( i found the bionic blade on sale for $50... reg $80. what is your opinion on this rod?? thanks..
  21. i liked the looks of the amistad special too... as for the wacky problem with the ocho... :'( i use o-rings, so i hope i have better luck... :-/ thanks for the input guys..
  22. what is the difference between these?? besides the smell ;D i picked up some ocho's in baby bass i couldn't tell much difference...other than the ocho's were more $ if you have used either one..or both..what do you like about them? any luck? thanks..
  23. I know I wont be buying senkos anymore i get what your sayin'...and trying to do....give us a possible alternative.... but... :-? until they produce fish..... i wouldn't jump off the senko's just yet. if/whenyou do have success..... i want to hear that too... thanks for the info though......they do look good...real good.
  24. maybe a silly question... if i put backing line on. can i tape it down and tie braid on top of it....or do i NEED to tie the braid to it? or can i just tie braid to spool on top of backing.. sorry if this is dumb... i've never used braid and thinking of trying. and i am not comfortable trying a uni knot yet.
