  1. might sound crazy.....but, depending on the cover you're fishing...put on a trailer hook...or 2. i don't do it often. but have tried it and it works. but there wasn't much weeds/etc to foul it up. just a suggestion.
  2. has anyone had any experience with these? good/bad/ugly? colors? i did a search for "rapala thug" and "thug" nothing came back. thanks..
  3. double bladed buzzbait. to someone who doesn't fish. i'm sure it looks pretty goofy. my wife couldn't believe i paid $10 for it. she was not a happy camper. dummy me...i should never have bought it with her around...
  4. Geez don't beat the guy up about it... Sounds like a fun little test that may not be perfect but hey, when is a test of fishing baits ever perfect? X2 sounds like fun.... great idea.. and... 21 fish in 2 hours!! excellent i wanna play....
  5. i think i understand what you are saying.....but imo.... it is just the nature of fishing a fluke that it is hard to "feel" it. since it is on slack or semi-slack line unless when moving it. to me, it's hard to feel or watch for line movement with a fluke like i do other plastics. i do more sight fishing with a fluke, where i can see it. thats just my opinion...
  6. I can detect the slightest nibble on plastics, but with a jig I am CLUELESS!!! Your probably right, I am getting bit and not even realize it. x2 fishing from the bank i rarely get to fish jigs (since they get hung up about every 3rd cast) my confidence is zero. i want to learn to fish with jigs but just can't get the "feel".
  7. from the bank... if no buzzbait/jitterbug/popper bite i switch to 'ol faithful weightless or 1/8 oz bullet...curly tail worm....zoom/powerworm/culprit parallel to bank. hop it or swim it slow then vary speed on bottom or swim it through water column. usually works for me.
  8. I have a couple of Pflueger Presidents that I have been well satisfied with. They are worth a look. X6
  9. My day starts and ends with top water. When anglers miss a bite throwing top water, its mainly operator error for not "feeling the fish" before setting the hook. While every body else is off the water during mid day eating chicken in their boats, I am out there ripping buzzbaits and toads and catching fish X2
  10. no music for me... just nature. and i love it that way. i can't stand when someone pulls up as close to the bank as they can get, rolls windows down and blares radio while fishin' that i can hear 50 yards away. but i don't say anything....thats their choice.
  11. You already have the 2 I would recommend. IMHO I would stock up on more of those. X2
  12. has any one used/had any luck with these? looks like a rattle trap with a lip and it floats.. i've never used a luhr jensen product.
  13. i put just a dab or 2 (a little goes a long ways) of Megastrike in with my plastics the night before i fish and put onthat way. i don't take the full bag of each. i'll take a few of whatever i plan on using and put in a baggie. as for JJ's.... i pick a few plastics and dip them the night before and package them seperately in 2 freezer zip lock baggies. making them a double bagger
  14. If you need the convenience of a two piece for portability, then go 2 piece. If not, go one piece. Any loss in sensitivity is negligible for most in modern rods. X2 i use both and can't tell much....if any, difference.
  15. Sorry I'm still relatively new to this, but is there a quicker way to switch from my traditional zenko to a spinnerbait without cutting the line and re-tying it? I would prefer not to carry a hundred rods on me though. i commonly take 2 rods. one i have a spinnerbait tied on and the other i use a duolock snap. no swivel and it works fine with plastics and allows me to change hook size or type of plastic or if i happen to want to throw a crank bait. is it best to use a snap? prob not. but it doesn't hurt any hookups. good luck..
  16. I'd throw a dark colored worm. Probably start w/Junebug and go to black/blue if needed. X2
  17. I fish them weightless T-rigged, the have a great wiggle to them as they fall. X2
  18. Cabela's carries Yo Zuri Ultra soft i fish spinning gear... the 6lb works great and with a break point of almost 12lb if your drag is set correctly. i'm thinkin' you could handle most anything. not sure how manageable the 8lb is?
  19. All Black All White I just switch the two up all day or night. One of these colors will definiitely work. (1/4 oz.) X2 i like gold blade with white and red blade with black
  20. i put the megastrike IN the bag with my plastics and rub it on that way.... plus it leaves them in the bag WITH the megastrike.... a little goes along way. why go to the trouble of turning baggie inside out and sticking hand in and doing that over and over? :-/
  21. i didn't care for it.. didn't seem very strong...and the spool i had had major memory issues even with KVD conditioner. i am a Berkley XL and XT big fan and also use the Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft...
  22. look at any place that sells plastics..look at their selection... and most everyone here could mimic it andstart their own fishing department... ;D zoom u-tail, trick worm, finesse worm rage anaconda berkley power worm 7" and 10" yamamoto senko strike king shimmy stick i think many different ones will work... once you catch a few fish on one brand... it'll be your favorite. until the bait monkey gets ahold of you and you buy something else...and it works....and so on.....
  23. hey bobby... any warranty on these?? ;D i had a 3lb'er crush a 1/4oz black w/red blade saturday night.... tore it up so bad it won't run right. i tried bending it back... but i can't get it back to good. ......yet.. i'm not done trying.. they're too good to not give it some more effort. bought it sat. afternoon.. it was only the 2nd cast with it.... :'( i've had good luck with the white with gold blade too. i won't use any other brand... 8-)
  24. 7lb2oz on a zoom u-tail watermelon seed weightless
  25. I'd be at the local Wal-Mart getting a couple Ugly Stiks X3
