  1. i never would have thought i would like the split grips...until i was lucky enough to "win" one of the pinncale rods here and it had a split grip. it turned out i really like it. the lamiglas i just bought has split grip also.. but i will say...i still like the full cork grip also. so both are fine. what i definitely DON"T like is the foam type grip.
  2. sounds like i made the right decision... i bought the xl664s.... can't wait to try it out.. knowing TW i'll have it by the end of the week.. and knowing me.... if it's as good as you all say.. i'll buy another one!!
  3. thanks for the feedback guys... i'm gonna pick up the 664. 6'6" M and hope it does fine for the 3/8oz spinners. since i don't own a truck i either have to get a 6'6" rod or a 2 piece if i get a 7 footer. prob would have liked to get the 7" MH but it is a 1 piece.. so i hope i'm happy once i get it.. thanks again..
  4. i'm looking for a spinning rod and it was recommended that i take a look at a Lamiglass thats on sale at TW. at $80 it's inside my price range. i can't go any higher. what's your opinion/experience with this rod? i'm looking at the 6'6" M and looking to use it primarily for spinnerbaits. i will be using 3/8oz spinners most of time. do you think this rod will work for that weight ok?? i know if i "step" up another $20-$30 it would open up to more rods.....but i am at my limit at $80. i'm looking for input on this rod in particular. i really appreicate any feedback.. thanks..
  5. i wasn't trying to blend any colors when...... i put a couple pearl swim senkos in bag with a couple red shad zoom u-tails when i was bank fishing. the color looked pretty good. dark red patches that looked like blood on the pearl. looked like a bleeding swim senko... and i've had some luck with them.
  6. i used to be the same way.... couldn't catch anything on a spinnerbait... now it is my go to lure...always have one tied on. i fish as a co-angler. i find a spinnerbait is easy to fish in the back of the boat when my boater is fishing fast. (which seems like 90% of the time) the last 4 tournaments i've done real well using a spinnerbait. it is very versatile and doesn't get hung up hardly at all no matter what the cover is. i like to flip it so it lands just on the bank and then twitch it so it flutters in the water..flashing the blades. i 've got many hits like that up close to the bank...if not hit then...then just start reeling....steady you can pitch to cover and reel through grass easily too. i throw a smaller, 1/4 oz on spinning gear alot too. i think the smaller profile helps sometimes :-/ at least i think so... it's a confidence thing too. white/chartruse and i've had luck with a green shad with some flash. mainly double willow, but also use willow w/colorado. just keep throwin one. you'll eventually have luck
  7. I like the Falcon KY weedless whacky hooks. Weightless or 1/8 pr 1/16. They come in two different sizes, 3/0 seems to work the best for me. X2 i also like the Mustad weedless wacky from Cabelas. $2.89 for 5 and they hold up and stay sharp after many fish
  8. plueger president is hard to beat for $55 i also have a quantum kinetic that i like and i got it for about $75 am sure there are many...and others will offer their favorites..
  9. what knot do you use? will improved clinch knot work....leaving the desired tag length and running it back through the hook eye to get the bait to stand out as much as possible.. :-/ thanks
  10. X2 on adding a spinnerbait set up.
  11. i'm curious too. i bought 2 on ebay and haven't had a chance to fish them yet.
  12. black cavitron buzzbait 3/8 jitterbug single colorado blad spinnerbait black chatterbait 10" black w/blue fleck power worm 10" junebug anaconda black popper dark colored cranks
  13. thanks for the ideas/suggestions guys... i appreciate it.. is palomar knot the best/easiet to use for braid? :-/ no leader bein' used
  14. finally got me a heavy action rod and picked up some Power Pro braid.. holy cow this stuff is strong!! after tying on with a palomar knot (is that the best/easiest knot?/) no leader. my clippers wouldn't cut the stuff!! what do you use to cut the excess with after tying on? a good knife? or is there a better/best tool to get? thanks..
  15. it looks like the megastrike has a better design to ALWAYS stand up. seems like once in hits bottom the others will fall over?? :-/ i'm thinkin' the Lake Fork hyper worm would work good too??
  16. i've never used one...but the bait monkey says i should have a few just in case i want to. what is your favorite? what weight works best for you? i've got yamamoto Kut tails, trick worms and finesse worms so i think i've got the plastics...just not the shaky heads... open to plastics suggestions too.. thanks..
  17. you did good.. try the u-tail worm, trick worm, finesse worm and fluke... you'll be addicted they always produce and hard to beat for the price.
  18. i just had to pick up some of these...in the 5" greenpumpkin. i swear they smell like they are infused with JJ's Magic did i miss it...and they are?? :-? has anyone used these with any luck??
  19. rig it with a 3/0 or 4/0 EWG texpose or skin hooked. "top water only"?... i suppose it could be fished below. but it is designed to be fished as topwater. it is a very good bait. just as all *** are.
  20. i'm 90% bank fishing... zoom u-tail. with, like raul said, a good amount terminal tackle to be able to fish it differently. but that little 'ol worm has done well for me. it might get some smaller fish.....but i've caught plenty of big fish on it too... and if i gotta pick just one...i know it will produce. imo
  21. can you say....busted? too funny jake... are you a private eye??? 8-) i go to a zoom finesse green pumpkin magic, weightless, 1/0 gammie ewg on 6lb yozuri hybrid ultra soft. with the new 6'6" pinnacle spinning rod i got from here paired with pflueger president 6730. my favorite finesse set up.
  22. lake fork tackle live magic shad is hard to beat. fluke a close second for me. there are many listed that others like too.
  23. Lake Fork Live Magic Shad....it works the action and texture is amazing X3 never tried it with achatter.....but going to...
  24. for wacky i use Mustad weedless wacky hook. i get them from Cabelas... i use the 1/0 size. never had a hookset problem. with wacky i rarely have to "set" the hook. it sets itself...usually in the corner of the mouth. at first i was concerned about that being too small of a hook...but it isn't. and the wire weed guard works for many fish. very durable.
  25. what hook size is best to use when replacing the hooks on jitterbug? i've got some size 4 round bend treble gammies... they look about right? thanks..
