  1. hmmmm....wild guess....it was caught on a jig....
  2. if you are in the market for some shakey heads... you need to check out Siebert's Extreme shakeyheads...Owner Deepthroat Hooks. wicked hooks and crazy sharp. i use trickworms, finesse worms, Rage Menace...just about any/every soft plastic can be used.
  3. it is NOT your typical braid...it was designed with spinning reels in mind....and no need for a leader at all.. this is from TW The longest-casting and easiest handling superline TUF-Line has ever developed, TUF-Line SuperCast will change the way you think about braided line. Utilizing a revolutionary post-process coating that adds lubricity, this new coating allows SuperCast to have superior castability and distance compared to monofilament, fluorocarbon, or standard braided lines. The added lubricity also allows knots to cinch down tighter for higher strength and security. Manufactured with a unique bi-component process, TUF-Line SuperCast incorporates an exclusive inside-out coating process that ensures a perfectly round, smooth, and highly abrasion-resistant superline that does not break down or lose its rigidity with prolonged use. The coating process of SuperCast also ensures permanent coloration of the line so the color won’t fade, flake, or bleed. SuperCast with its smooth outer coating, quietly glides through the rod guides without the tell-tale braided line screech, allowing for longer casting distance and a stealthier approach when flipping or punching. SuperCast also eliminates common issues associated with spinning reels when using braided lines, like poor bail performance, tip wraps, and wind knots. So if you have been hesitant to try braided lines on your spinning reels, SuperCast is the perfect choice. For casting reel applications the ultra-round construction of SuperCast virtually eliminates the line's ability to dig into itself and will give you trouble-free handling all day long. So whether you are using a casting or spinning reel you will find SuperCast to be the quietest and easiest to manage superline ever designed. TUF-Line SuperCast delivers a significant advancement in superlines by producing a line that has the smoothness and handling of monofilament and the toughness of braid.
  4. i got 12 of the 100% living rubber jigs delivered last friday.... they are awesome! as are all of mike's jigs. now if the ice would disappear!
  5. Pinnacle Perfecta M. i love mine... perfect for shallow cranking. as well as some wacky rigging and light weight shakey heads... very light and very sensitive..
  6. TufLine Supercast... 12lb is = to 6lb mono diameter 15lb is = to 8lb mono diameter i started using it last year on 2 spinning setups and really like it. strong, no wind knots, casting distance is amazing, good sensitivity, thin enough that line visibility is not an issue. IMO. i would recommend it..
  7. I use improved clinch knots on both ends. Great hooks, no complaints. X2
  8. well.... i have a different take... . since i am limited to what i can take...i prefer to use all my plano's for baits....crankbaits, lipless, jerkbaits, etc.....depending on what body of water i am fishing....not hooks or weights. to me, that seems like a waste of a plano (and space). just how many hooks and/or weights do you need for any one outing? i keep all my hooks in their original package and put the unweighted and weighted in separate quart size Ziplock freezer bags in a side compartment of my tackle bag. they fit just fine. as for weights. i don't see the need to take more than 4-6 each of the different weights i may use. so, i take a few out of their orignal package to lessen the space they take. and mark each baggie for storage and then put the orignal in my tackle bag with 4-6 weights of each. i have never needed more than that of any given weight. the weights will also fit in the same side pocket of my tackle bag as the hooks. i am also able to fit multiple sizes of shakey heads in that same side pocket. does that make any sense? not sure i am able to explain in words..how i do it. i don't see the need to take up a plano with just hooks and weights... IMO i use an Okeechobee Fats bag that holds 4 3700 plano's. it has 2 good sized pockets on the side as well as some storage space in the front and back. not sure of the exact model.
  9. thanks for the info....feedback.. i plan on using them on the new Siebert living rubber jigs i ordered last and are on their way....sounds like they will work well for that.. will also try them rigged as suggested... thanks..
  10. a buddy has one he uses at night tourneys.... the bass crush it!! darn near had a heart attack one night....i still give him a hard about it.
  11. any one use this...have any luck with it? i'm thinking with it's smaller profile..... and it looks like it may have more of a subtle action that it may be a good jig trailer for cold water??......on a living rubber jig... opinions....?? thanks...
  12. all that talk about breakfast has me hungry... biscuits, gravey, grits...
  13. on another note... i like the Menace on a scrounger...rigged vertical. looks just like a swimming baitfish coming through the water..
  14. thanks Kent.... i thought so........
  15. i'm thinking these would look real good on a swim jig.. question.... rig it with the tail vertical?? or horizontal? i think vertical..... but then at slower speeds would it roll over...so rig it horizontal? or am i overthinking it??
  16. Form just sent.... This will be my 2nd Trip.... last year's trip was the best week of fishing ever for me....looking forward to seeing everyone again. For those "on the fence" about going..... I was kinda nervous about going last year for a few reasons. 1) i didn't know anyone. and it was obvious from the posts that there were some pretty close friendships that had been made from previous trips, i didn't know if i would fit in or be "accepted". if it was kind of an "old boys" club or not. i can tell you...it is not. yes, there are some tight friendships (which is awesome)... but everyone...and i mean everyone....was really nice and made me feel "at home". i felt like i was "one of them" after the first night of the meet and greet..wine & cheese soiree.... and i hope to make the same type of friendships. 2) although i feel like i am a decent angler..i was intimidated by the knowledge of those going and wondered if my skills would "measure up". i can honestly say that was never an issue. every person i fished with was awesome... i felt like i fit in... and my skills weren't as lacking as i had been worried about. i learned alot..... so... i guess what i'm trying to say... if you have any doubts about going...whether you will fit in or whether you are a good enough angler..... leave those concerns at home and come on.... you will have a great time and never want to miss another trip... i know i won't. i can't wait!!! one more thing... i'm wanting to purchase a used BC rod... MH 7ft full cork handle.. i'm hoping one of the attendees might have one they can part with... i'll post in the flea market... but hoping one of those going will have one. that way i can see it, hold it, etc. before purchasing.
  17. with that reel...i'd go with red power pro.... imo
  18. Dwight.... i corrected myself....thanks... Kent... i prefer the 3 1/2" myself...that size matches my baitfish better..for here..
  19. one of my "go to" baits.. my absolute favorite trailer is a lake fork live magic shad.... and X2 on boot tail type swim baits sometimes don't work that well. They have a specific action of their own which is not enhanced or improved by this type of head. They seem to fight each other more than anything else. steady retrieve works best for me....speed is dictated by what they want that day.. bill size determines how deep it should be worked.....short bill...shallow.... long bill..... deep
  20. that looks awesome.... i think the bait monkey is on my shoulder...
  21. well....all's well that ends well... met with and joined, a different club sunday. 23 total members. 10 non-boaters...and after talking to a few of them, they get treated well by the boaters. as an added bonus, they fish 4 different places that I have never fished..... the biggest bonus... the last tourney... a 2 day event is on KENTUCKY LAKE!! thanks to all who gave their input....it is appreciated...
  22. send me a pm with your address and i'll stick some stuff in the mail to ya. good, name brand baits, hooks etc,...that i can part with. i've got no problem helping someone who wants to get started bass fishing and on a tight budget...
  23. i think i've found another club to fish in. it is pretty close and they fish a lot of the same bodies of water. their meeting is sunday. i'll find out more then. i've talked to one of their guys and told him what is going on in the club i fished in....he said "thats dumb" . so i'm pretty sure i've found another "home". the "team" deal won't work where i have fished...not enough non-boaters... i appreciate all your feedback.. and Francho.......that has been the most popular response from the dip-sticks in the club... "get a boat"... so i'm hoping things work out sunday....and i can say... adios to them
  24. pflueger president or supreme. i own 2 of each and not one problem from either one in over 5 years of use. great value..imo
