  4. pop-r buzzbait frog spook dawn and dusk...the almighty jitterbug
  5. i can't answer the knot question....but i think it would be hard to do a loop knot with braid and it not slip?? trim one leg shorter and it will walk easier. and/or use a popper frog..for more distrubance.
  6. scrounger and a lake fork live magic shad...one of my go-to's. and i hope it produces at Wilson next week too..
  7. i'm a firm believer i only catch the dumb ones....it doesn't realy matter to me either way... me thinks we tend to over-think...but isn't that part of the challenge...
  8. life jacket... last year it was about 11pm when i left.....at about 1am driving down the road... i was going through everything in my head....and...panic attack.....realized i didn't pack my lifejacket...it turned out ok as i was able to borrow one every day... this time....my life jacket has been in my trunk for the past month....lol... now...what will i forget this time??

  10. not bad..... way very windy..water was pretty muddy. caught a lot of fish (everyone did) but was hard to get keepers.. it only took 12lbs to win. i caught mine on..spinnerbait, jerkbait, wacky senko, and mostly on a chatterbait. my best fish came out on the main lake where the old roadbed is. is was crazy windy out there but that is where we did the best..\it was the first time there for our club...i think we'll go back next year since most everyone caught fsih..
  11. hollow bodied frog. .. weightless t-rigged senko or other plastic.
  12. circle hooks are a great idea to help with what you are doing. since they want to mimick you and your hooksets.....maybe...you could use circle hooks too... ? i find when i take grandsons or kids in the neighborhood, anymore i actually try to fish less and just watch and enjoy them more. they sure can be entertaining (and yes, frustrating too)..lol.. some of my best memories are when my son was young and the stuff he did... we still talk about it.....10 years ago, he actually rigged a senko "wacky" before i had even heard about it...and caught a 4lb'er. that was just how he put the hook in the worm...lol
  13. glad it turned out well for you... i agree...being nice and walking in with a good attitude can go a long way...you did well...
  14. i still wanna know how the "2 small bags" for the Roadtrip are coming along... 2 years ago i swore i wasn't gonna buy another crankbait.....that was about 75 (or so) crankbaits ago..
  15. after reading on here...and TW about the shoddy hooks, i replaced them with Gammy as soon as i bought it. as ww2 said, it sank. so i took it back to BP and got another LC Pointer...
  16. after reading this...i am worthless at work today... lol... i hope we can run into some of those browns...this week can't go by fast enough.. i can't wait
  17. Dick's usually has it... if your's doesn't, just ask them..they will get it for you from another store.
  18. i use 20lb PP or Tufline braid on spinning setups with no problems... on other spinning gear i use Tufline Supercast. 12 or 15lb. that stuff casts a mile...
  19. nice pic mike.....looks very peaceful.. this is my home lake...taken with my trusty flip phone..lol.
  20. yes, i use the 3" for shakeyhead and as a trailer on smaller jigs and the 4" by itself texas rigged and on a jig for a larger profile. great bait.. imo
  21. Kent, sorry for your loss. sounds like you have the right attitude about it...remember and appreciate all the great times together
  22. any knot will work... just get it as tight as possible... one thing is KEY after that...the first few turns of the handle......go slow and easy without much tension until the line is around the spool a few times....then start putting resistance on the line and continue to reel it on. i found that if you put too much tension on the first few turns..it will slip...
