X2 you had to know this was going to eventually happen... when asked for a simple "vs" of anything it ends up being..
my dad can beat up your dad... lol...
Pflueger....President or Supreme..
Dick's carries the President for $59 and right now you can get a $10 mail-in rebate. you can't beat this.
i own 2 President's and 2 Supreme's. best spinning reel for the money...imo..
as i was typing this...3 replies...ALL recommend the President... lol...
you better get back to Dick's and pick one up...
Cavitron... THE best...by far imo.
and one thing i've learned, don't be afraid to throw it in some nasty stuff...weeds, etc. it will come through easier than you might think...
i agree....a great spinnerbait. i was fortunate to get one at the Roadtrip...and they flat out work, period.
top of the shelf components...
it is now my no. 1 spinnerbait..hands down..
1st thing...change the hooks...
i normally fish it like you mentioned...slow and then slower....but if you are intent on fishing it...then try fishing it faster and not give them too much of a chance to inspect it...
Spinning gear: #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft....
i use it and really like it...i also use McCoy co-poly..and like it..
kvd line conditioner...makes a huge difference for both on my spinning reels..
guessing maybe you weren't either wetting it to cinch it tight or the line itself is bad?
I've been using the improved clinch with mono, fluorocarbon, and braid, for 25 years; never had a properly tied knot fail me. X2
love the Bug.....caught some of my best fish on it at the Roadtrip...
great action (as always with all the Rage baits)...and better durability than i thought it may have since it is so soft.
it was awesome to fish a bait before it is actually on the market...thanks Big O...
compared to the Pit Boss similar in size. I do like the Pit Boss..a lot. but the Bug definitley has more action. so i think they both have a place.
Braid with a leader is used to get the strength of the braid but the "invisibility" of the floro leader
i couldn't disagree more...the "strength" is only as strong as your knot and/or the leader you use. you don't have 40lb strength when using 40lb braid and 20lb leader.
as for an "all around" line... i would go with a 10-12lb mono of your choice. that leaves you open to top water (which fc does not) and that line strength doesn't limit the depth of cranks as a heavier line might and a good mono will hold up well enough for texas rigs, etc. imo.
i've used spinning for everything up until the last year. still use spinning for 90% since i'm not comfortable yet with the bc.
i throw jigs up to 3/8oz on 2 of my spinning setups. a 7ft mh Veritas and a 7ft mh BP Extreme both paired with a Pflueger Supreme and 20lb braid. never had any problems..
i use a worm binder/wallet. i can get at least 20 spinnerbaits in it. i put up to 3 in a sleeve with no problem identifying them.
drodriguez.....you use 10xd's from the bank? that is interesting...where are you fishing?
black and blue jig with a black/blue trailer. a trailer that gives plenty of movement...ie. Rage craw or Zoom speed craw
i've also had good luck with a texas rigged Zoom speed craw in Junebug
Pflueger, Pflueger, or a Pflueger.
best spinning reel for the money... imo
i use spinning reels 90% of the time
i currently own 2 President's and 3 Supreme's. not one single problem, ever, in over 25 years of using Pflueger reels. the one Shimano Symetre i gave a try, didn't compare... especially for the money.
