some nice setups....
BUT
i would try to narrow it down to 5
i fish as a co-angler in my club..and that is plenty.
i use duo lock snaps on a couple setups so i can change quickly...as the boater speeds up or slows down..changes depths, distance from the bank, etc..
(now let the duo lock snap detractors chime in)
simple answer...is..yes..
as my frog setup..
i have used a MH rod (a Veritas now), Pflueger Supreme and 20-30lb braid for years and had zero problems
yes..a BC setup is gonna be said to be "best"...but, it can...and has, been done with a spinning setup with no problems.
i started the exact same way as you mention..
7ft is not "too much"..but in tight quarters i used a 6 1/2 ft. and didn't feel like i was "missing" anything.
for reels...i would definitley recommend a Pflueger President (can be bought for $60, max) and then you have close to a $100 for a rod.
you can get any number of good rods for $100. i would go with a MH. it is much more versatile....especially in the long run.. as for length. 6 1/2 or 7ft..whichever you prefer.
do you have a Bass Pro or a Dick's close to you?
i've got a tourney this weekend at Nolin Lake, KY
i've never fished there...
if any has...i would very much appreciate any ideas, suggestions, baits, locations, etc..
thanks...
you can't go wrong with green pumpkin w/blk, watermelon w/blk, black w/blue. in the colors TW offers in bulk
the color i have the most luck with (because i use it the most) is pumpkin w/black and green flake..
i like the orange(ish) color with the green flake...a good bluegill imitator.. imo..
awesome...you definitely made a difference in his life. oustanding. great job and he will by your "son" and you his "dad" for the rest of your life...and his..
i would venture to bet that he looks to do the same thing later in his life. talk about paying it forward... ...
congrats to the Spurs (and a classy move by Dwight to start the thread)
the Heat were "tired" really? lame excuse..
they were lucky to win it last year...down by 5 with what? 23 seconds left..and pull it out.
Spurs won't make any hi-lite reel...but they sure are fun to watch play
i'll use some cheap or old mono for backing....so i only have about 75 yards max on the spool. that way i can get at least a couple spools worth out of each box of braid.
Rhino fhished them on a 1/8oz ball head...since we weren't in heavy cover or weeds..
i was not too proud...once he was catching 3 to my 1..and i was throwing a fluke, i switched..
i don't own a sexy dog... so i can't say.
but i do replace the hooks on the SK KVD 1.5,2.5, 3xd and red eye shads...
but the jerkbait, 5xd and 6xd seems to have pretty good hooks.. ??
1/8oz, screw lock, either a 2/0 or 3/0... 4/0 is overkill..imo
during the Roadtrip..and watching Rhino killem' on this exact bait...it is one of my new "go to"
we even ordered from TW and had some delivered onsite at the Roadtrip... lol..
imo.. there is really no "hookset" on a topwater with treble hooks...they either have it or they don't..i pause..then sweep...
i agree with Felix....change the hooks to a good sticky hooks...that will definitley help too..
have to respect LeBron's talent...kinda like Pete Rose for me...(old school tellin' my age) lol..
but the whole "decision" thing turned me off. i liked him while in Cleveland...and don't blame him for leaving...it is how he did it. and the whole "introduction ceremony" for him and Bosh...was a huge turn off..
not to mention he "gets fouled" on every play. i'm tired of that act.
i definitley don't care for the Heat...they all flop (ie. see Wade) and Chalmers is flat out dirty... that elbow he gave Parker last night was worthy of an ejection and at least a one game suspension. imo
