  1. I returned my Energy PT, and bought a Revo HS SX. The Quantum felt like a great piece of machinery, but it didn't work for me very well. After a couple of hours screwing with the break and drag, I was still getting the nest, and the whining during cast was awful. First cast with the Revo went a mile - no noise, and incredible smooth (11 bb). This is the first 7:1 I have owned.
  2. I returned the Energy PT back to Dicks today. I have been baitcasting for 3 years, so I am no expert - but I know how to use a casting reel. First cast, the spool "whined" extremely loud - it was actually embarrassing as a lot of other people fishing near me were laughing. Every cast whined, and every cast produced the birds nest - I kept trying different settings, but I realized I wasn't going to make the noise go away no matter what. I think I am going to get a Revo SX instead....
  3. My 760pt doesn't have a flipping switch, and it isn't orange. Won't know how good it is until this weekend... I just bought a Fenwick rod for it, and can't wait until Saturday.
  4. I posted in the other thread too... I just bought the Energy PT from Dicks today. The reel and the box do not have the "s" for the saltwater setup (and the quantum website shows the reel having the word "saltwater" on that line); yet the user-manual in the box does - so I don't think the reel (at least the one I got) is the saltwater model. If I am wrong, and actually have the saltwater model - is there a downside to that? Am I giving up any performance?
  5. Just joined the site... Been fishing for a couple of years now up in Northern Vermont. Prefer the rivers over the big lake, but will fish anywhere I can as long as I can. Just picked up a Quantum e760PT to start the fishing season and can't wait for the ice to break up a bit more so I can start using it.
  6. A couple months ago I bought the Quantum KVD reel and love it. I just realy prefer these brake systems over magnetic. I just had my second tourney this year with the KVD reel. I ended up coming home saying I have to go get another KVD Quantum because it casts so much further then all my other reels. It just handles light jerk baits so well. Then my dad handed me the Dicks ad with the Energy PT for 80$ and I knew I could get a 10$ off coupon to make it 70$. One other thing is that these are the E760PTs reels. The only difference is these are made to handle salt water and don't have the pretty cover. At least that's what my local Dicks sold me. I just bought this at Dicks - though I didn't know to get a coupon. The reel itself (or box) does not have the "saltwater" logo, nor the part number of PTs. However, the user manual that is in the box is for the PTs or saltwater model. The Quantum website no longer has the 760 specs, does anyone know how old this reel is?
