  1. I use a Chronarch MGL. I think it is perfect for this application.
  2. I have purchased a few brand new Daiwa Aggrests for under $100. These are great reels.
  3. The Sol is much better than the other two for light line/lure applications. I have all three.
  4. I have two and they have held up great. Good value.
  5. Super nice reel. Good luck with it.
  6. I also have used the Tournament Pro hard for over a year now. It is every bit the reel as a Revo Premier. I compare it to the Premier because that reel seems to be a gold standard for the money these days. I fish both side by side and the TP performs identically (casting distance, smoothness, no backlashes, etc). Costs less too.
  7. I have had mine for over a year. I use it hard with braid. It is as smooth as the day I got it and it is holding up well.
  8. Spinning or Baitcasting?
  9. For Pete's sake, the op never even used the Lew's reel. Imflammatory post.
  10. Jeb--Let us know the difference it makes. Thanks
  11. Correct. The Shimano reps say its the same reel. Hooligan is right.
  12. Nothing to laugh about, you are right. From a performance perspective, the gold Carbonlites and Shimano Citica E (clearance prices) are the best values in baitcasters today.
  13. Yes--stick with the heavier baits, also I agree with you on the Lews.
  14. I still have 2 Cayennes. All are the same: I need to set them at 6 with the spool tension knob set that the lure falls slowly to the ground. I get the exact same distance I do with the Curado 200E7 this way. Note: I have read numerous places that you can throw light baits well with the Cayenne. I never found this to be true. Stick with the heavier baits.
  15. I have owned both. I sold the Smoke. In my opinion, the Tournament Pro is a much better performer for light and heavy baits. Read the TT review of the Smoke. They are correct, it does not handle light baits well.
  16. I'll second the positive comments on the Tournament Pro. Great performing reel that has taken a beating without a problem.
  17. I still think the Chronarch D series was the best reel value Shimano ever offered. It performs just as well as the Core 100 and casts like a rocket. You could find them in mint or like new condition for $200.
  18. I have a Tournament Pro also. It doesn't take a back seat to any reel in its price class. I would say it is every bit the reel the Revo Premier is from a performance standpoint. Great reel.
  19. Anyone who owns both: Is there any performance difference between the two? I know that the Patriarch drag is rated at 20#, but is it exactly the same drag as is in the Premier? Is the 20# drag force value legit? If you had to buy another (either a Revo Premier or XT) considering the price difference, which would you buy? Thanks
  20. I have a Sahara but I would have to go with the Exceler as well. I have both and would go with the Exceler hands down.
  21. Save yourself some bucks and get an Exceler on SALE now at Gander Mtn for $39.99. Super reels.
  22. Hence the backplay in the handle. ;D
  23. I will apologize to redlinerobert ahead of time: But I bet the old lady was flat after you ran across her too. Sorry---cabin fever. ;D
