  1. I loved Smith Mountain Lake, and the boat traffic was pretty bad during the day but nothing compared to Boone.
  2. well..........i dont make the rules ha ha
  3. well......technically looking for a new JOB at the moment, I am working 2 right now.....7 days a week, except when I take off for fishing. It can get to be pretty rough......but, you are exactly right lifes too short, thats why I am in the market for a change.
  4. WHATS THAT??
  5. well, unfortunately NO....but, I wish. I have got my fair share of fishing in this summer though, which is wonderful and a weekend full of fishing around the corner. ha ha
  6. DOUGLAS....this friday and saturday night.....I am pumped!!! he he Yeah, there are some really nice ones, we are blessed I guess. and some NICE NICE bass.....Most people call Holston the dead sea...but, you can drag some big smallies out of there as well.
  7. yeah.......you need to focus on fishing. she sounds like a real "WINNER"........But, really dont give up on women, she just isnt the right one for you. Alot of the guys in our club have women who do not fish and they are alright. You dont have to find one who loves fishing as much as you, you have to find one who supports you and your decisions no matter what. and hey, there are those out there who love fishing....but, you have to watch, some of them just say they do to be close to their men. you can tell someone who loves the sport and would fish whether you were with them or not. ) like me ha ha.....with or without my bf I am going to fish. ha ha but keep your head up. =) you will be fine.
  8. THANK YOU!!!! I'm glad to be Back!~
  9. Well, I would have started earlier if I knew what I know now. i think the best way that I could have bettered myself would have been fishing more tournaments earlier with different people. =) I love my partner and he helps me alot but, sometimes when you first start tournament fishing it is good to see how others do it as well. So, if you join a club where it is everyone for themself, it is okay to fish with different partners and learn EVERY technique that might help you out. (Even if you already know the technique....maybe you normally dont use it on that lake or something.....) This makes you see everyones perspective and become more open minded.
  10. I would get my FROG rod...with a frog on it of course, for Ponds, I am partial to my BPS Frog Kit and I would throw it right near those lilypads!!! Why? cause I have a pond close by that sounds similar. I also dropped a 10 inch June Bug Ole Monster by the cattails and landed a 4 1/2 lb large mouth....so just experiment.
  11. ha ha......if you consider yourself a fisherman and you do fish alot I dont know how you havent fished after 2am.....lol.
  12. I fish all sorts of different ones. For tournaments we fish Cherokee, Douglas, Boone, and Holston mainly. For fun I fish all those plus Claytor, Flannagan (sometimes), and recently Smith Mountain. and for the really small just because lakes we fish Pound, Big Cherry, Hidden Valley, Laurel Bed, and stuff like that. It doesnt matter to me where we are at....as long as we are fishing!!!
  13. My input is needed....ha ha.....Okay, this is a first....=) awh just joking. thank you.
  14. Smith Mountain Lake... What a trip?!?! If you havent been there, I suggest you go! A few weeks ago, for summer vacation from work and everything I decided to take my boyfriend to SML for our 2 year anniversary, since neither of us had ever been. I called around to a few of our club members and NO ONE had ever been there, so I got a map and we planned the trip. We got there on Friday night and got to our room about 11:00, we rested for a few hours and put in at the d**n....d**n is right, that end sucked. You could see all the way to the bottom no matter where you were, I only caught one and the bf didnt catch any. So, we headed out kinda early to check out of that room and go to the other end of the lake. We found a really nice place to stay, went to a local tackle shop, and headed to the public ramp that was nearby. We got in the water, and immediately I was excited. The water was so much better, so much more color, and the fish were Biting!!!!!! We fished Sat evening/a little into the night and got back up and fished Sunday. I loved this end of the lake, we ran everywhere and got to know everything. But, by the time we got on a REALLY good pattern it was time to head home. We caught lots of fish but, I caught 5 good fish and the bf caught 3....so, it was overall a good trip. Those willows that hang out over the lake and cast a shadow....the fish love them!!! And the lake was BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!! =) Thought you all might like to know how it went and my suggestion for a good fishing trip if you have never been!!!
  15. Its been awhile since I've been on here, I didn't disaapear or anything, I have just been so busy...working 2 jobs and fishing. I just wanted to tell everyone that I am back, and maybe get to talk to some of my friends from here a little more now. Amanda
