  1. I live in VA but I had the same problem this spring. Perch , bluegill, crappie hitting large baits. They hit anything from 2" crankbaits to 4" buzzbaits. I caught alot of good eating size crappie (catch and release but I have eaten crappie) 12" -15". Its all fun to me, I love catching bass, but its still fun to have something different to hit and reel in. Enjoy it, atleast your catchin something.
  2. Thanks for the info? I was told that it just covers up the human smell which is good also. Thanks again.
  3. Does anyone use any type of scents? Do they really work, or are they a waste of $$$?
  4. I found out about Trilene xl on accident and I love it. I went to buy Berkley's vanish flourocarbon sp? and in the box was the xl so I used it and it was great but I had to get the flouro so I went back to Wal-Mart and Got Berkley vanish again and hated it. Went back to Wal-Mart Got 10lb Xl and I love it. Cast smooth and far and has so far proven durable.
  5. I just tried Berkley Vanish (not transition) But I am extremely disappointed.
  6. Thanks for all the input. Ill not use them. These pet shops and walmart are well known for selling diseased fish. Ill make sure to tell my buddy too. Thanks again
  7. Thats messed up. I was happy for you too. I remember thats how i felt when I caught my first 7lbs bass It happened fast and I felt week in the knees. Good one though.
  8. I live in King George Va. I fish mostly at the lakes(3) In Presidential Lakes. I also do some catfishing in the Rap River near the Fredericksburg Boat Docks as well as the Potomac. But mostly Bass fish in the Lakes and any water I can find. Theres a little creek by my sons doctors office I often get my line wet whenever he goes. Anyone else live in or near King George? Im going out today.
  9. Theres a guy that fishes at 1 of the lakes I frequent and the other day he was tellng me that he uses goldfish. Has anyone heard of this? I personally use artificial 99% of th time but my youngest son 3yrs doesnt quite have the feel for artificial. I thought I might give this a try, and I wanted to ask you guys what you thought. Thanks
  10. Thats nice though at least you caught something. Today was my first day (3.5hrs) I caught 5 (not huge but were ranging from 11"-15") on a Rapala shad rap perch color. First time having luck with crankbaits which I now love, First time I caught bass in cooler weather, and of course the first for this year. Cant wait till tomorrow. Nice catch though.
  11. Tried to post the link but im not allowed. But go to the basspro shops site via bass resource (a portion of the proceeds is given to br to help keep the site free) Then go to freshwater, tackle, and soft tackle. They also have a single binder and other brands as well. Oh and the price for mine was $24.99. Hope this helps.
  12. I use the Bass Pro Shops Extreme Double Worm Binder. I paid like $25-$30 for it but it works great for me and its a binder it has 10 bags on each side and storage on both sides *** well for hook weights etc.. So when i get new plastics i just throw the bag in the binders bag and your set. Works like a charm for me.
  13. Looking pretty good. C-list is a gold mine, I use it everyday. Promise not to laugh but I fish in a paddle boat (no motor). So of course Im looking to upgrade in the near future. I was actually looking at some boat plans, to try and build my own, and get the kids to help. They would be proud of that, including myself. Good luck to ya cant wait to see the end product.
  14. Hello All, I Just joined up yesterday. I read a few post before I actually joined. I love it. Gotten a few good pointers as well and I know there is more to come. I always enjoyed fishing did alot in the Bay When I lived in Md. grandparents used to always take me among other family and friends. When I got into my teens is when I first found out about bass fishing. My mother and her friend use to always take me, while mom used live minnows and he used everything from spoons, plastics, cranks and so on I picked up on a little. The last 5 years Ive been going hard at it. Plan on going today, Its a little cool here still I think mid 50's, and dont know much about bass in cooler weather but it will be fun anyway. Anyway I look forward to chatting with you all. Thanks for having me.
  15. I use An Uglystick 6' med power. Alot may disagree with Uglystick Ive seen some pretty bad reviews on BPS but just as many good. Ive used them for as long as I can remember. Skipping is one of my favorite things to do, on the pond that I fish there is a big pavillion type deal that goes out on the water so I try and get as far under as I can. And practice of course. Good Luck
